Lawless has played in every game since Doolan came in.

I am not a sports scientist but I doubt his unfortunate injury is anything to do with the training and staff in place at the club.

My reasoning being I cannot ever recall a Thistle player having an achilles injury in living memory, including Stevie who must have played 150-200 games for us.

I think it was a snapped Achiles which did for Dumbaya as a Thistle player, after a very promising first season. This did happen close season during an informal kick around with mates mind.

  2. I actually thought that was a fairly comfortable win. It wasn’t fun to watch, but if the game was still going on I doubt ICT would’ve scored. We had the best chances (if not that many) while I don’t remember Mitchell making a save of note, nor them missing any decent chances. Suddenly being defensively very solid means we can get away with a lacklustre showing in midfield /attack.

On balance I definitely thought we deserved the win anyway

And as of now, the original meaning is slowly fading and instead, is used more often to term someone as hypocritical and think they are the 'enlightened' despite the fact that they are extremely close-minded and are unable to accept other people's criticism or different perspective. Especially considering the existence of echo chamber(media) that helped them to find other like-minded individuals, thus, further solidifying their 'progressive' opinion.

While I disagree with this entirely (not being accepting of racism or homophobia is hardly being "closed minded" I would say), the truly most bizarre aspect of this argument is the idea that the "media" is some sort of progressive woke echo-chamber which comprises only The Guardian and its ilk. This is the same media which includes The Mail, The Express, the Telegraph, The Sun, GB News, The Spectator etc.., none of which I have ever thought of as woke.

Went through it myself for draws, so we have Raith this year, Cove last year, Dundee Utd (of course they're on any PTFC related list of bad shit) in 15/16 in a post-split game that went 3-1 to 3-3 in the last 5 minutes and Ross County 3-1 to 3-3 in 13/14.

On the Thistle comeback side there's the East Fife game I mentioned in 20/21, a 2-2 draw with Dunfermline at Firhill in 18/19 and a 3-3 draw with Hamilton in 14/15 which probably needs an asterisk as we came back from 0-2 to 3-2, then lost a 94th minute equaliser so it didn't feel like much of a comeback at full time.

So that's nine 2 goal leads lost since 2013/14 and three where we've came back from 2 down to avoid defeat.

I did include Osman in my list of players who were great for us but then went to shite. I think you have to take their whole time at the club into account rather than just cherry pick a good few months in isolation. Were that the case you'd probably have Lyle Taylor pt. 1 in the team ahead of Graham.

But Osman was great for us for three full (premier) seasons before missing the first half of the relegation season through injury and not recovering. To me that’s very different to the 6 month wonders such as Keown, Barton et al.

Aye I've said a bit later that there are legitimate grievances but saying that the players would somehow have to miss the game due to work commitments isn't one of them.

This is obviously a sore point putting the fixtures against each other,  but I can't think of what else they could have done for this. Do they have it on another weekend? What if the men's team had made it to the challenge cup final which I think is the Sunday?

I don't envy the football authorities tbh. I'm hearing a lot of folk being annoyed without offering any sensible alternatives.

But the decision to play on the Saturday was only made mid-December, after we had been knocked out of the Challenge cup. Prior to that, the final was scheduled for Saturday or Sunday. At the time of the decision, the semi-finalists were known and it was clear that there was a realistic clash between the final and the same club's mens team if played on the Saturday, with no such clash (for any of the remaining participants) if played on the Sunday.

By leaving the decision as to which day of the weekend to play the final so late, it should have been simple to avoid any such clash. I really don't see why you can't think of what else they could have done for this.

The only aside to this would be that hearts have at least 2 defenders away with Australia on international duty for at least the next 3 weeks so may want some cover. Hopefully not.

Though of course, that’s something they would have known about when originally setting the loan period and allowing him to be cup tied. They don’t play for the next two weeks either.

A pleasant surprise. Hopefully doesn’t mean Neilson is away back to Hearts. Him and O’Reilly would be a solid CB pairing.

Hearts are having a very good season, largely due to an excellent defensive record. Unless there’s been an injury or two there, I think they would recognise the present arrangement as best for Neilson and therefore themselves.

Also he was allowed to play for us in the cup, which suggests no recall is planned (or at least wasn’t then)
