  1. That’s because they are. Top of the last 5 form (12 from 15), with us second (11 from 15). The big difference is that they are also top of the last 10 (23 from 30), while we only got 13 points in that time (7th)
  2. Don’t forget that last season’s second place team got humped 8-0 in the playoff
  3. I actually thought that was a fairly comfortable win. It wasn’t fun to watch, but if the game was still going on I doubt ICT would’ve scored. We had the best chances (if not that many) while I don’t remember Mitchell making a save of note, nor them missing any decent chances. Suddenly being defensively very solid means we can get away with a lacklustre showing in midfield /attack. On balance I definitely thought we deserved the win anyway
  4. Meanwhile we did in a final we ultimately lost
  5. While I disagree with this entirely (not being accepting of racism or homophobia is hardly being "closed minded" I would say), the truly most bizarre aspect of this argument is the idea that the "media" is some sort of progressive woke echo-chamber which comprises only The Guardian and its ilk. This is the same media which includes The Mail, The Express, the Telegraph, The Sun, GB News, The Spectator etc.., none of which I have ever thought of as woke.
  6. Well if everyone who doesn’t like it apparently likes pro wrestling, why not?
  7. The weird irony about all this hoarding chat is that it didn’t even work. Strapp just moved them and took his long run up anyway. All it did was provide a bit of pantomime entertainment for the crowd.
  8. As for the first goal- a fan video from more or less level suggests that it was just about onside
  9. So it’s top v bottom in terms of last 5 game form. If anything, this entire table underlines what a crazy league this is.
  10. I forgot how good this was (and never witnessed it in person). Seeing it now, maybe I’ll go for this one
  11. But Osman was great for us for three full (premier) seasons before missing the first half of the relegation season through injury and not recovering. To me that’s very different to the 6 month wonders such as Keown, Barton et al.
  12. I’m amazed that Abdul Osman has not received a mention. He was immense for us for a decent length of time.
  13. But the decision to play on the Saturday was only made mid-December, after we had been knocked out of the Challenge cup. Prior to that, the final was scheduled for Saturday or Sunday. At the time of the decision, the semi-finalists were known and it was clear that there was a realistic clash between the final and the same club's mens team if played on the Saturday, with no such clash (for any of the remaining participants) if played on the Sunday. By leaving the decision as to which day of the weekend to play the final so late, it should have been simple to avoid any such clash. I really don't see why you can't think of what else they could have done for this.
  14. Won trophies with Liverpool and Everton. He's out of the running for this job, having tragically passed away at only 46 from Lymphoma
  15. Though of course, that’s something they would have known about when originally setting the loan period and allowing him to be cup tied. They don’t play for the next two weeks either.
  16. Hearts are having a very good season, largely due to an excellent defensive record. Unless there’s been an injury or two there, I think they would recognise the present arrangement as best for Neilson and therefore themselves. Also he was allowed to play for us in the cup, which suggests no recall is planned (or at least wasn’t then)
  17. There are a couple which break the laws of physics: He hung in the air The ball gained pace off the pitch
  18. We were much better in the second half and took full control when the second went in. Nice tactic to give Adeloye increasingly easier chances till he could’nt miss, hopefully will give him some confidence.
  19. Truly brutal match. Largely losing the midfield as usual. Got the goal (I thought Gaston should have cleared from my vantage on the JLS) and we do look more likely to score again than concede. However we don’t do clean sheets so Arbroath may still fancy themselves for something here.
