In my view, the current board have taken exactly the right approach in reinstating the academy in a way that is sustainable and supports the first team, rather than takes resources away from it. A good example is ditching the plan to have a reserve team this season. Personally, I think resources should always be prioritised for the first team and I would have no hesitation in delaying the full academy relaunch if needed. Some of the sums I have heard discussed are simply not affordable or appropriate for a club of our size unless we were in the top 6 of the premier league. The current approach strikes the right balance for our current circumstances imo.

Without knowing the detail, I would assume there would be some benefits from having these teams run under a charitable organisation rather than the club itself. I’m thinking of things like tax treatment and grants that may not be available to the club directly.

I liked him- lack of end product at times but plenty of pace and energy.

Ultimately the only objective this season is to win the league. An unbeaten run is irrelevant if that is not achieved.

Points are what wins leagues, not peformances.

Not sure Ross has done anything to merit a contract yet tbh, certainly not for a league above.

For better or worse, a decision has been taken that the FSS is to be aligned at all times with the Patrons and board of directors (at least publicly) rather than acting as a representative body for supporters. That is all well and good when things are going well on and off the pitch, but will not be tenable in my view should that cease to be the case. There may well come a point where the interests of the supporters are contrary to that of the Patrons/board and the FSS needs to be able to raise the supporters’ views on such an issue.

Not for me- goalkeeper is a far bigger weakness than centre forward imo and I wouldn’t be playing Long at all. I’m not Maciver’s biggest fan (and he wouldn’t do a league up in my view) but he will do a job there with Shanley as back up.

Don’t mind Lawal at all but makes sense for him to move on as he would be struggling to make out bench never mind the starting 11. We are well covered in his position (there’s an argument for me that Lawal is a better option than Oliver at No. 10 but that’s academic). I’d be looking at a centre half and experienced goalkeeper if possible, with McGinn leaving the club.

Makes sense for Allan to go out as realistically he’s going to get very little game time here. Wishful thinking but I’d be looking to move on Long, McGinn and Lawal next with an experienced goalkeeper and another centre half coming in if possible. I wouldn’t be surprised if the board would like to see wage costs trimmed a bit too.

Difficult conditions but should have had more than enough quality in the starting 11 to beat Bonnyrigg. Subs should’ve been on long before the 92nd minute. Long is simply nowhere near good enough in my view. Ideally we need an experienced head there but Hogarth has got to start in the interim. All very well saying the league is the priority but that could now well be a number of contract extensions/signings that cannot be afforded. Got to hope this loss of form doesn’t continue in the league. For me, there is only one man to blame if it does as it was started by the ludicrous messing about last week.

Personally I’d just be sticking Mackie at centre half if Lang or Donaldson are out. I certainly wouldn’t be looking to make 3 unnecessary changes to a winning team.

How did Tiwi do for you guys? He was someone I wouldn’t have minded Falkirk having a look at given his record at Bo’Ness but he doesn’t seem to have had a huge impact at Kelty.

The attendances looked higher than quoted to me at the last two games

I can understand McGlynn’s desire to make a few changes as in my view it’s not realistic to expect the same 11 players to play every week for the whole season. There is also a need to keep players match fit as some will be required due to injury or suspension at some point. However, clearly the scale of changes was excessive- Donaldson at right back was a crazy decision. I don’t think it helped signposting to the media that this was an opportunity to rest players either. Also a bit of a reality check for those saying only 3 or 4 additions would be required to challenge at the top end of the championship. We have a good number on the books who are not contributing enough at this level, never mind the league above. E.g. Agyeman, Mackie, Allan. Ross is another one who has done very little in a Falkirk shirt.

It’ll be interesting to see if there are any movements out the door over the next few weeks. Mackie, McKay, Lawal and Allan are not going to see much football- McKay might be happy to see out his contract but I’m not sure if the other 3 will be happy to sit on the bench or in the stand. May even be that McGlynn/the BOD encourage a few to consider their options to try and trim the wage bill a bit.

Good solid win for us against a team clearly set up to frustrate. Great to keep the unbeaten run going too. Thought there were more than 4700 there.

It was no coincidence in my view that results went off a cliff very shortly after Holt was appointed to the role.

The problem will be the pitch imo given that it can’t be cleared

We don’t have the budget to keep players to be in and around the place imo. Hopefully an agreement can be reached and he can be moved on.

Quite clearly there is absolutely zero chance of FSS reaching 2400 members, through no fault of anyone. There is therefore absolutely no point in wasting time considering that possibility in my view, and alternatives have to be considered.
