  1. Nothing to do with us only winning 16 out of 30 games then?
  2. Improving on one of the worst league finishes in the club’s history is a bare minimum expectation, not a success
  3. Wouldn’t surprise me as he’s clearly not going to get a game anytime soon ahead of Nesbitt.
  4. Allan seems to be another one where a contract has been thrown about like confetti. A decent few months in a Clyde team that play a totally different style of football from us and we give him a 2 and a half year deal. He was released from Airdrie so I’m not convinced paying a fee and then offering a 2.5 year contract was justified or necessary.
  5. Personally I wouldn’t want to see 5 at the back in this league. No point having 3 centre halves not contributing in an attacking sense when you’re playing against a bank of 10.
  6. You regularly slated the team (deservedly on occasion) under previous boards and management teams. I don’t think it would be fair to say you wanted the team to lose then. Yet now we sit 11 points off the top of league 1 with a 53% win percentage and you claim anyone daring to point out that league performance hasn’t been great must have an agenda? Ludicrous McCarthyism.
  7. Interesting to hear Gary Oliver say, “If I took every chance, I probably wouldn’t be at Falkirk.” Imo we have too many players thinking they’re too good for this league when in real life we’re well off top.
  8. Personally I don’t think either are the answer for next season and beyond but I do think McGuffie has the ability to contribute more in terms of goals and assists than Nesbitt, who seems to just run about to little effect in many games. Looking at the stats, Nesbitt has 4 goals and 10 assists in all competitions. Mcguffie has 7 goals and 2 assists, but has played far less. It’s beyond me why one was given a new 2 year deal tbh.
  9. It's starting to look like Nesbitt's 2 year deal is up there with some of the contracts thrown about like confetti by Holt. A 1 year extension I could understand after his improvement in some games this season but 2 years is bizarre when you look at the totality of his Falkirk displays.
  10. Not really a bad spell though, is it? We were mediocre to put it kindly until the Queen of the South game at christmas. We had an excellent run from then until early March and have been dreadful in the league since then. You don't end up 11 points behind Dunfermline due to a couple of bad results. Frankly, the league performance has not been good enough. A 53% win percentage in league 1 is well short of the standard required and I don't think it is being excessively negative to say so.
  11. Got to assume Max was one of those carrying an injury otherwise it’s a shocking decision benching him.
  12. I actually suspect that John Mcglynn himself would say the league performance has been disappointing. Clearly there has been improvement in terms of recruitment and performances, however to be 11 points behind Dunfermline in March is clearly not great. Yes, there has been huge progression from last season but that was one of the worst seasons in the club’s history so it would have been a disaster had that not happened.
  13. It is a combination of a number of things in my view. Stubborn, one dimensional tactics in certain games, an inability to cope with physicality and not playing our most natural goal scorer. I also think more effort should have been made to offload some of the dead wood in the summer rather than waiting till January. We have a better squad imo than Dunfermline so to be 11 points behind them in March is pretty poor.
  14. You know more than the rest of us then as I haven’t seen the statement being retracted
  15. I’d suspect it will be used to find things like the academy and maybe infrastructure improvements.
  16. Before I believe. However, the directors seemed clear to me that they are looking to close a £400k operating gap- income and expenses without taking into account things like cup runs and transfer income.
  17. It was specifically mentioned in the latest Falkirk FC podcast https://www.falkirkfc.co.uk/2023/03/13/the-falkirk-football-club-podcast-episode-six-available-to-stream-now/ It was made pretty clear that the starting point for next season will be a £400k cut to the football budget and the cut will only be reduced if FSS and Falkirk Forever sign ups increase. If I recall directly, one of the directors actually said the budget for next season is out of their hands.
  18. The board were very clear that the first team budget will be cut by £400,000 next season unless FSS subscriptions increase so I wouldn’t be so sure of that.
  19. Exactly- which makes it all the more disappointing that despite considerably better recruitment and a more experienced management team, we are in a very similar position points wise to 19/20 and 20/21 (before the collapse).
  20. Simply not a true from a points perspective.
  21. I think it’s clear who has the agenda on here. 19/20 we had played one game less and had three points less when the league was pulled, so clearly very similar to this season. Fundamentally in my view we have too many players thinking they’re too good for league 1 (which they are on paper) but are not showing that on the pitch consistently enough. Doesn’t help that one of the biggest culprits has just been given a 2 year deal.
  22. I didn’t say the season has been mediocre- I said league performance (which is the bread and butter) has been. It’s easy to show improvement from our worst season in history but we are not significantly better in the league than 19/20 and 20/21 before the collapse. It’s not just the lack of points against Dunfermline that has been poor imo- we have dropped too many points to poor teams like Kelty, Queen of the South, Clyde etc. I agree recruitment has been significantly better, so it is disappointing the league performance hasn’t matched that.
  23. The point is we have not launched any serious title challenge and our league form has been inconsistent. I strongly suspect you’d have been on here slaying previous teams and boards for similar.
  24. Yes, we are on an upward journey. However, we have been too inconsistent and therefore mediocre over the course of the league season in my view. Yes, we went on a fantastic unbeaten run but prior to that we had won less than half of league games. We have not mounted any serious or sustained challenge for the league 1 title, which can only be classed as mediocre imo. Our points total is looking very similar to 19/20, during which a manager was punted.
  25. It’s certainly more than last year’s rabble would’ve got but considering the first of those four seasons we were 1 point off top when the league was called, I suspect that team would’ve got the same number or more points against Kelty- we’re currently sitting with 3 more points after 1 more game played than 19/20. Equally, I suspect the 20/21 team would have picked up a very similar points total before the injury crisis and Holt-induced collapse.
