  1. It has to be a GE now, all the pressure needs ramped up by all political parties. Now is the time to get the path to indy finally moving forward
  2. The SNP are a big business/keep the markets happy party I would agree with that but the big difference is that once independence is achieved we can vote them out for a party that is more left wing. The SNP are a means to an end and the best option at the moment in the cirumstances we are in.
  3. it feels a bit like making excuses for it not being achieved already, thats not very inspiring I think leaders have the ability to change these things , it may not be easy but if they cant do it then find someone who can
  4. cant keep blaming the voters, its up to the political leaders to galvanise the voters, especially when gifts like this are given to indy. Lets see if they can.
  5. Its all up to the SNP now, if they dont make huge gains from this the question will be why?
  6. and any government in Scotland wont be able to blame anyone else for being poor at their job, which will be very refreshing
  7. Labour do offer nothing in long term but if someone is struggling to get by and has to endure another 2 years of a tory government and Labour offer some improvement to their situation in the immediate they may vote for that in the short term. If they feel indy2 is still some far off place.
  8. Its a simple analogy but when we see the Tories and the whole UK establishment in complete chaos and on the ropes, is it going to be something thats regretted later if we dont go in for the knockout now. The times we are in now at this moment are unique, the SNP needs to think on its feet.
  9. Its a possibility but thats up to the SNP to campaign well enough and with this tory government in absolute unprecedented chaos surely they can do that. If the supreme court decision is no which is likely is it? What is the feeling on that? No seems whats expected anyway. If tories cling on till 2024 then you are looking at an election that lablur voters in uk still might decide to vote labour. You may have Rishi Sunak come in and bring some stability to Tories and labour voters in Scotland could feel its even more needed they vote labour. Then whoever wins how long before an indy2 is granted, 1 year, 2 years 10 years?
  10. Id guess that it would change more towards Yes if there seemed to be more movement and energy in pushing indy2 now. However that is done. Pushing for an early GE and SNP get the required 50% is it? then the weight for an indy2 becomes huge and momentum builds. The best thing now I think is a GE as that could be quickest route to an indy2.
  11. Howard Marks - Mr Smiley, my last pill and testament Its ok, not great. Some interesting bits in it and it starts off quite well but the main story it drifts into seems a bit over long. If you have followed his story then maybe worth a read but otherwise not.
  12. its such a mess now only a GE has to be the outcome, it should be easy enough for the other political parties to force this if they keep repeating it enough in every forum
  13. Thats a fair point, I can understand that viewpoint. I would still be for forcing the issue more now while things are in such a chaotic state. Maybe the way I said would lead to a boycott which would be serving no purpose. Some other way of building up pressure and getting some momentum going would be worth discussing at least. We are in exceptional times at the moment and history usually shows that in these times actions that determine the future happen.
  14. I think they should say that if the tories change leader again and dont call a GE, they will go ahead and hold indy2 asap next year. That the tories failure is so bad and their actions so undemocratic that Scotland has to have a vote to decide if its indy or not. it would put pressue on tories to do that now b4 they change leader it would raise the stakes and get a bit of momentum going as its all a bit flat at moment on indy side
  15. That they dont seem able to make any political gain in an ever deepening crisis at westminster, is just that they are clueless would be my guess. It feels like a wasted opportunity. Maybe they are just too cautious but you have to take some risks to take a country into independence.
  16. with the crisis in westminister being unprecedented, it would be an opportunity to really push things further, take a bit more ownership of the path to indy rather than continue to wait for the establishment response
  17. agree, Thats what I was thinking also. At moment its only proposed. We shouldnt wait any longer things have changed so fast and with the Tories decimated, time to take charge rather than wait on some establishment ruling that most likely is going to say a much delayed no anyway. BTW Whats the plan if/when its a no?
  18. I read that the Irish energy grid was warning of the potential of power blackouts too this winter. Though I think most european countries are warning of this.
  19. I think PM questions is tomorrow sometime so if she no shows that, I cant see her lasting beyond tomorrow
  20. I dont understand what we are waiting for now, we should name the date for the next indyref asap. To pass up an opportunity like this could be regretted later.
