  1. I can see logic in that idea. Wouldn't object to Gibraltar being a bounce game personally and would explain why we took that as a game in the first place. Maybe if we weren't opening the tournament we'd have 3 friendlies like I think other teams have arranged (Portugal, Ukraine).
  2. Fair enough, thanks for that - just have to wait and see then. The different end dates is always an issue.
  3. it was in a different thread. accies1874
  4. That's it, I believe it was you that said previously there was a standby list last time with Lewis Ferguson on it. Why would that method be changed? I don't know though.
  5. Can you imagine a squad announcement before the Finland game, just doesn't make sense or worse after it around midnight lol. That would be one for the books. Surely the squad will be settled before the Finland game at least.
  6. For Euro-2020 the squad was named on the 19th of May. The deadline was 1st-June and the last friendly took place against Luxembourg on the 6th-June. For Euro-2024 The deadline is 7th-June (the same day as the Finland game, which kicks off at 1945). Seems needlessly complicated logistically. What makes you so certain?
  7. Good post. Good news re: Stuart Armstrong. Clarke might use a percentage of any potential additional spaces for younger players (Johnston, Conway). If he can kill two birds with one stone so much the better. I take your point about them being fit or not, but it's my view that a 26 man squad affords Clarke the option of gambling on core players returning from injury, e.g. Hickey, Hanley and Armstrong. Is there a risk in terms of full back coverage even if Hickey goes? it might be worth having a player in the squad capable of covering that if there's an issue there (Johnston). Similar with Armstrong and Hickey. Someone who could maybe cover both those areas (Fraser) might end up coming into it.
  8. Good point. I'll maybe have to do a comparison with the other leagues in Europe later on to see if that is normal, maybe it is I don't now. The automatic counter argument is always that these teams are in the position to get more penalties. It's such a big drop off, even to Hearts.
  9. That's an amazing stat. St Johnstone have only apparently had 1. Sevco the only team in double figures with 12 and that's just in the league - so 1 every 2.75 games as it stands.
  10. Anyone know what's going wrong at Sassuolo? I assume there must be issues behind the scenes. Josh Doig must wish he'd joined Marseille or just stayed at Verona.
  11. That's true in my experience, live down there for 5 minutes and it's easy to completely lose touch with Scottish football.
  12. Was a dull game, not interesting enough to keep my attention the whole way through and I only had it on in the 2nd half. I didn't expect Hearts to do better, but I wanted them to. I've seen that game play out a million times. I gave up when Dessers scored the 2nd. The defending for both goals was terrible.
  13. I think that's a fair enough assessment. There's so little integrity in the game it's hard to really know what's what anymore. If it were a Scotland game I'd feel hard done by not to get one penalty in the game and leave it at that. I'm not into the subsequent twitter statement/crap/politics, but unfortunately that's also a big part of football now.
  14. This is all part and parcel of being on these boards. I've been guilty of being a nugget myself, so I'm not going to deny you your right to be a dafty on here. If you want to use multiple aliases then on you go, I don't have an issue with it - you probably needed a rebrand as your The SandDancer account was taking some hits. So good luck with your new look, enjoy and do what you do.
  15. Assists. https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/sport/football/aberdeen-fc/3867531/confirmed-aberdeens-calvin-ramsay-worlds-best-teenage-defender-with-assists/
  16. Funny that considering you were all over his thread commending him for suggesting we drop Callum McGregor. 2nd top poster after your man aka long time lurker aka @Butters Scotch.
  17. Fair enough, you know more about it than me then. I don't follow their twitter account. It's so childish, but I've heard Marinakis is a dumpling before.
  18. I'd be interested to know how the process differed from Glass or Goodwin. Obviously it took longer, but what other little tidbits have come out? maybe the net cast wider? looking at more candidates? is it that kind of thing or is it some kind of data analytics magic?
  19. It's so bad, hard to believe a professional club would tweet that - it's like an April fools joke. Just get rid of referees and VAR and let the teams ref themselves then or better yet just let the fans fight amongst themselves to make decisions. It's got to that point, chaos rules apply.
  20. Probably best to take it easy for about 8 minutes and lump one or two balls into the box near the end if the players have tired legs.
  21. Not Scottish, but relevant to Scotland. This is crazy imo although it's been going this way for months. I don't see how this can be resolved if people or even clubs can't grow up.
