    Goals win games……..MORRISON

Absolutely get that sentiment but it wasn't goals scored that won Dunfermline the league last year, it was their defence! We knew pre season we had to improve in that area and we have.

Just saying! I know that will just mess up heads further when trying to pick( including mine)  🤣

  2. Just checking as sure somebody posted under 12 tix at Montrose next week were £5, when I go into the website it says under 12 are free if accompanied by an adult , the header page on their ticket website says they are £5 but that option isn't there when you go through to order. Anybody have the correct link?

You think we changed ends in the PL? I have no recollection of this at all.

I seem to recall doing it as a young kid in the early eighties but pretty sure it stopped soon after as we started to get bigger crowds again.

Used to occasionally lead to a bit bother as well, remember one incident against St Johnstone and the guy getting lifted belted the copper as well, pretty sure it made the Herald that week.

Another time at Clydebank the steward opened the gate and dozens of Falkirk fans ran at all the fannies that had been acting like big men behind a fence throughout the first half. Bubbles's bus had to do a detour via the police station after the match to get get his bus numbers to match for going home 😆

After the recent nonsense at Hamilton and TNS I wouldn't be confident this would be great idea, unfortunately...)

I see a few sources now suggesting Morrison will be away today. Would be a disappointing one as for me he is our most important player. Agyeman and Ross have something to offer but not convinced they would be an adequate replacement.

Any word where he's going and how much we would get... any less than £150k we shouldn't let him go.

I would say that was far more to do with continual terrible recruitment of players and managers than the decision to close the academy.

No academy graduate had established themselves in the first team for a good number of years well before relegation was even contemplated (I would have to check but may even have been someone like Sibbald or Alston) so to suggest the loss of the academy was to blame is a stretch.

Nobody is denying the terrible recruitment but I still believe the closing of the academy was more than a coincidence. No idea of the stats around academy players making the grade but I'm sure over the last 4 or 5 years we would have established enough that would have prevented us going out and signing some of the duds we consequently did and im sure we would have been all the better for it on the park. I do recall a mate of mine who was friendly with somebody within the set up saying we had one of the best crop of young players he had seen.... who all got released.

It's all hindsight now of course and been covered on here loads of times so no point in getting it all going again.

In my view, the current board have taken exactly the right approach in reinstating the academy in a way that is sustainable and supports the first team, rather than takes resources away from it. A good example is ditching the plan to have a reserve team this season.

Personally, I think resources should always be prioritised for the first team and I would have no hesitation in delaying the full academy relaunch if needed.

Some of the sums I have heard discussed are simply not affordable or appropriate for a club of our size unless we were in the top 6 of the premier league. The current approach strikes the right balance for our current circumstances imo.

The problem is, an academy will be crucial to any aspirations we have to get back in the PL, so a financial balancing act will obviously be required but I disagree with any delays to relaunching it. We all want success ASAP but may be a bit of short term pain for long term gain required. See how quickly we fell from grace from the day it was scrapped, I know there was lots of other factors involved but surely one of  the biggest issues was never having any young lads we could progress to build the team instead of simply rebuilding squads every year with a steady flow of shite. That could easily happen again without an academy!

We're in a good place at the moment, throughout the club, but nowhere more so than in the stands, every year we have been in this tinpot league the fans have turned up in big numbers, I don't see that changing any time soon especially with the influx of young fans, there will never be a better time to get this kick started!

Sure Yogi had a story about him being late for the bus away to Dunfermline, obviously scored the goals and was apparently told to make his own way home post game.

Seem to recall on "The One F" forum at the time, some mysterious poster giving us lots of inside info ... think it was rumoured to be his auld fella who himself also turned out to be a pretty dubious character?

Speaking of songs, loved the ultras new Carpenters effort. 👏🏻 Sitting nearby I think the lyrics went:

”We’re on top of the league, lookin down on the Accies,

And the only explanation I can find,

Is the form that you’ve found, ever since you’ve been around,

Your loves put me at the top of the league”

    😬

Or the Wham effort for Ross Macivor

    Quality, well done lads!

  9.  Flying into Dusseldorf the day before the Swiss game and back the day after, was planning booking 2 nights (Tuesday and wed night) accommodation in Dusseldorf but any idea how easy it will be to get back to Dusseldorf after the game finishes given how late it will be when the match finishes?

And any thoughts on an area in Dusseldorf to stay relatively handy for the train journeys and airport?

I am holding off to see what AT Mays are going to offer this time. 🤔

I still have fond memories of spending 2 days on a bus going to Italy and not actually reaching the accommodation at around 2am the morning after the Costa Rica game.😂

And fond memories of the Casa Del Bimbo, if memory serves me right the rumour at the time was they had kicked all the orphans out of the orphanage to put us up for 2 weeks. 🤣

  11. Is it just me or anybody else have issues any time they try to phone the club shop?

Tried umpteen times today and just rings out to answer machine.... last time I had reason to phone a couple of months back, I called 12 times between 1000 and 1330(I was that passed off I actually checked my phone and counted). I eventually drove down to the shop. expecting it to be heaving with customers, hence why they wouldnt answer the phone, and there wasn't even one customer in the shop?

I actually think if you look at the state of the other groups and the remaining fixtures that five of the other seven groups could have a second placed team finish on 8 points or less. So I think what we have to do now is try to thump Peterhead at home in the hope that 8 points and goal difference would be adequate.

Of course there may be a scenario where we finish top of our group but it’s looking pretty unlikely……

Looking at the groups and the fixtures, I reckon it would take an unlikely set of results to get through on 8 points. There has been plenty surprise results so you never know.

Dunfermline have already played all their games and are on 8 points with a plus 5 and likely to finish 2nd, so that needs to be our 1st target to have any chance... put at least 5 past Peterhead.... so that no doubt means Mcglynn will go 1 up top and try to sneak a 1-0 win!

  13. Back to the play offs ... trying to work out what holidays I might need.

Semis are straight forward, finish 2nd and 2nd leg at home.

For the final, 1st leg at home if we play the Championship club...

What happens if 4th in league 1 beats the Championship club? Do they take the place of the championship club and get the 2nd leg at home or would finishing higher in our league take precedence for 2nd leg home advantage?
