Apologies if I’ve missed this through this thread, but what is minimum percentage of votes required for this to go through?

My mate and I went to a Beith game this season when a Stirling game was called off and mentioned at the time that Fowler could probably go up at least 1 if not 2 levels. He looks quick and clinical. Believe he was given a 3 year deal at Beith this season if I’m not mistaken

I’m not sure if this resonates with anyone else but I felt that the euphoria of the last minute winner on Saturday knocked the stuffing out of the support a bit. That for me felt like the moment we won the league. Also, there isn’t a “singing section” at Stirling, but the folk that are likely to sing were split up across the stand - I think there’s something in that too. I really don’t understand some Dumbarton fans confused at why we didn’t celebrate more last night. Yes, we all but won the league but we also mathematically didn’t win the league. The prospect of winning it at home now - which I believe we’ve never done before - is very appealing. I think the P&B bubble can be weird sometimes and I think there is a perception amongst Dumbarton fans that there’s some sort of hatred for Dumbarton amongst us. I genuinely don’t think there is and I think that’s also why folk weren’t “getting it right up ye” last night. Given the circumstances surrounding this fixture, every interaction I’ve had with Dumbarton fans on the 40 times I’ve made the trip this season has been decent. I wish yous all the best in the play-offs but also wouldn’t be upset if I don’t have to go to the Rock again for a few seasons

We’ve definitely been more fortunate than most but I wouldn’t say we’ve been completely void of injuries. Jack leitch was out for a good few months, Cummings has now been out for a few weeks now, Davidson was out for a while at the beginning of the season, Cooper has been fit for about a month this whole season and, not an injury but we lost out best player in Fotheringham in January. That being said, Paul McLean, Carrick, Thompson, McGeachie and Currie being fit for the majority of the season has been key

Yeah agree with you for the most part regarding Carrick, Thompson and Currie. But it’s more guys like Spence / Davidson / Mcgregor that I’d be a bit more concerned about. McGregor is wildly inconsistent, Spence has done an okay job as a squad player but I’m not sure I agree with giving jobbing squad players 2 year deals and Davidson has been okay in parts but still not excellent. At this level I’d expect 2 year deals to be going out to guys that have been performing well for a long period of time - these guys haven’t. As long as the 2 year contracts stop there I’ll be satisfied

As much as it’s good signing up the spine of a good team, we probably need to watch what we’re doing with the 2 year contracts. How often have we seen guys at this level have 1 good season and that’s it. Would hate for us to be in a position where we’re stuck with 3/4 players on 2 year contracts that aren’t performing

I mean, given how much rain and snow the west coast has had the past day or so, it makes sense that this game is called off and the communication from Dumbarton has been much better 3rd time around. I struggle to see when this game is going to get played other than waiting until the middle of April or the Wednesday 29th. The game on the 25th is going ahead on the same day as Scotland vs Cyprus. I appreciate that this is at our bit but I think the statement the Albion put out about it was pretty fair if not a wee bit self-serving. But who isn't in league 2 eh I'd hope the 2 clubs wouldn't agree to play this return fixture on the day of ANOTHER Scotland game on the 28th - with Scotland vs Spain happening that night. I'm talking extremely selfishly here because I go to both Stirling and Scotland games - but it would be a real shame to have to make the choice between the Scotland games or the Stirling vs Dumbarton fixtures given what's at stake.

I live in Greenock and can see the rock so I’ve been on Rock watch all morning. Snow is coming down in sheets. I’d say if this keeps up for any length of time we’re humped. To be fair I’d have exactly the same opinion as you if this was Forthbank. But if the pitch is playable the pitch is playable. Doubt many Stirling fans could care less about preserving it for your game on Saturday

Next Tuesday it is. Fair play to Dumbarton for reducing the entry. the weather forecast still isn’t looking great into next week. If any of the decision makers at Dumbarton are looking at this thread, goan just call the game off in the afternoon if it’s doubtful so I don’t have to find out the games off in the Stags Head again

Can’t see anyway this game is going to be on. Meant to be sunny today which might thaw it out normally - but that big stupid boulder will probably block it out all day

I thought we just about deserved that yesterday. For about half an hour in the first half Stenny were completely on top but I never really felt threatened even with their dominance. The only player who I thought had our number was O’Rielly who had an excellent game. In the second half our centre half’s seemed desperate to score an own goal but otherwise again I never felt like stenny were that threatening. Once we realised in the second half that in order to stop Wedderburn dictate the midfield we just had to run at him a bit faster, we were much better. We controlled most of the second half. Particularly when Fortheringham was moved into the centre. Also thought Pabs, Geach and Robert Thompson were superb. I might be eating my words come the end of the season but that win felt significant and I think the players recognised that too. The past few weeks we have won comfortably, that wasn’t comfortable yesterday but we still managed to win. I’m no saying yet that we’ll win the league but we’ll be right up there I think. Shout out to the Albion young team as well. Like all wee boys they can be fannies at times, but they’ve brought an atmosphere with them that I don’t think I’ve ever seen at the Albion. This season so far has been one of my favourites in my 20 years supporting the binos, hopefully the good times continue!

I’ve been a Stirling fan my whole life time and have deliberately avoided all of this debacle throughout - but given the players are apparently now involved I thought I’d try get to grips with what’s going on here I know this has all been done to death over the summer but can someone confirm or deny that the way I have interpreted things is correct? As far as I’m aware, there will be a vote of the Trust membership on August 3rd to determine whether the current Club board should remain in post? If the trust then votes to oust the current club board, there will be an employment process for a new board and once that has happened, the trust membership will then vote on whether those individuals should be involved in the new board? If this is the case, who will then run the club whilst the trust employ a new board? I don’t have a side to this argument so I’m not looking to get involved in any debates about this but if someone would be willing to tell me if I’m talking shite or not that would be grand!

Buzzing at that result today. Not the greatest performance but a bit of grit that has been lacking from the past few months performances. Excellent finish by Flanagan for the second goal which seemed to take about 3 years to hit the back of the net. Nonetheless I’ll take that with a pinch of salt given 1. We always seem to do well just after getting a new manager in and 2. We have kelty next up who I assume will beat us. Lowlight of the game for me was the young team. I feel like I sound like an old guy saying it but there is genuinely no need for chucking pies at the stenny goalie, jumping onto the pitch when we scored, trying to jump round to the stenny section etc etc. I like having the young team there for quite a few reasons. I think they create an atmosphere that is often lost in league 2 games. For example at 3-1 to Annan 2 weeks ago, I feel I’d have completely switched off if it weren’t for them getting behind the team, which made it all the more exciting (and anticlimactic) when we scored our second. I also think that we need to be attracting younger folks to games and they have definitely made an impact on our attendances over the past few months. That being said their behaviour over the past few games (including the stenny game at forthbank) has left me really conflicted over wether it is entirely beneficial having them around the football club. It probably is, and they’ll probably grow into it but I don’t really understand the culture of being so raging at an opposition week in week out. Then again I’ve probably just forgotten what it’s like to be a wee guy

Agree with most of what you said. Regarding Bikey and Mackin getting taken off - at the time I was a bit puzzled. But the last 15 or so minutes I think proved that Kev got it right. For some inexplicable reason cowden started playing this weird high line which meant Omar, carrick, heaver and Moore kept getting in behind them

Thoroughly enjoyed that game and also enjoyed the Friday night experience. If I’ve got my bias hat on, I think we probably deserved to win the game given the chances we had. We missed a tonne of great chances, mainly from free headers. But I also think we were fairly lucky to still have 11 men on the park as McGregor could easily have been sent off in the first half. Edinburgh’s number 23 also caused us a hell of a lot of problems running in late from the midfield. However, not a bad result at all, I’d have taken it before the game. Big Mackin was superb tonight as was Jack Leitch. That move, goal and celebration from both the team and supporters for the binos first encapsulated everything I’ve missed about being at the football during the lockdown. Long may it continue!

This game is going to be a hell of a lot tighter than some people anticipate it being. I think we have the 2nd best squad in the league with a mid-low table manager so I expect basically every game to be tight. I’m glad Kev has switched away from the 3 at the back which clearly wasn’t working last season and I’m glad that we done so well in the league cup, but if we’re being realistic we still conceded 7 goals in 4 games which still isn’t great. That being said, I still have that early season optimism so f**k it, 4-0 Stirling. Mon the binos ️

Decent performance last night. Kept Hearts quiet for about an hour before we got quite visibly knackered and overrun in the last 20. Standouts for me were Jordan McGregor, Marc Laird and Bikey. Hopefully Bikey can keep that performance level up through the season, he'll cause bother in league 2 if he can. What a buzz being back in the ground last night though. That first ironic cheer when a Hearts player passed the ball out of play after about 5 minutes and celebrating the Albion clearing the ball off the line like we had scored in the second half were personal highlights. Now buzzing for the league to start and more than ready to be brought crashing back down to earth against Stenny next Saturday

He made 19 appearances in a 22 game season, so I'm not sure where you're getting injury prone from. Other than the impact injury he had in the second last game against Elgin which lead him to miss the Stranraer game, I can't remember him having a long lay off. If we are so reliant on one player missing one game, I think that says more about the rest of the team than it does Andy Ryan. Overall, this is an absolute massive loss for us. Other than some flashes at the start of last season, we didn't play as a team and more or less relied on Ryan to score/assist on his own. I'd mentioned in another thread that we only picked up 5 points in games where Ryan didn't score or assist last season. That being said, we can offset him leaving by playing more as a team and sharing the goals around. Will we do that? Probably not. Will we finish outside the play offs again despite building a decent side? Probably. Will the manager be gone by December and replaced by another jobber looking for his first gig in management? Probably. And I will spend numerous pennies watching in the hope that every single one of them proves me wrong. Mon the Binos

I’d argue that if anything we were in a better position than other teams. Kirkpatrick, Eadie, Meggatt and Hamilton on loan from hearts in theory are 4 good signings to a squad that was already playing quite well and had a good depth. The only long term injury we had was to Paul McLean which was a sore one. But apart from that no one was out for a sustained period of time without there being a decent enough back up to replace them. For me this is the best Albion squad put together since the fan takeover - including the team that won the play offs at East Fife. If I look at Stranraer in the game last Saturday, they only had 5 players on their bench. Apart from a small look at Greenhorn against QP we never had to rely on our youth players. Absolutely ridiculous to suggest that we were disadvantaged more than other teams. Cop out from the board who seem to be more interested in making excuses than admitting the fact that they made an arse of giving Kev a new contract before the season ended. We missed out on the play offs due to a persistence with 3 at the back which hasn’t worked in attack or defence since December, our inability to score at home, the fact that the goals we did score were basically just Andy Ryan assisting himself, and constantly bottling it against any team in the top half. Little to do with injuries, quite a lot to do with a poor manager IMO. I really really hope Kev proves me wrong next season but I’m skeptical to say the least.

Must win for the Albion but unfortunately I can’t see it. 30 of our 35 points this season have come in games where Andy Ryan has either scored or assisted and he’s out of it. We’re so reliant on him and without him we seem to have absolutely nothing. Failing that you can normally rely on our defence to keep it tight. We can’t seem to do that at the moment. I desperately hope I’m wrong but we’ve all seen this rodeo before and it probably ends in Stirling defeat. If so, the decision to give Kev an extra years contract is going to look very daft. In my mind, we have one of the best squads in the league and a few weeks ago looked certain for the play offs. Obviously covid plays a part, but no play offs this year with the squad we have would be an absolute disaster.
