Thing is, that much was obvious pre Jan window - yes we signed a couple of decent players on loan and also one or two really promising ones perm - but none of them were in the CH position (apart from Triantis, who is shite). Baffling, really. You are the stats guy, but outside of our awful goals against record this season, many of the goals emerged like Saturday, barely any real danger, but as soon as an opposition player breaks through or takes a shot we lose a goal ! I would say its Sunday League defending, but its closer to playground stuff, jumpers for goalposts etc.

Nice earner, good pension, lots of nice expenses paid for and no possibility of actually running the country. Aye, I think the whole Indy movement needs a serious reboot - Alba isnt the answer, but the SNP (of which I used to be a member) seems like its just treading water now.

I have a small maintenance business and work with letting agents - this is bang on. Some of the cash raked in by these landlords is incredible. I cant go into exact details, but one tourist place (multlple flats one stair) up near the castle brings in almost £400k per annum......... Long term lets isnt much better - I was working in a 1 bed flat just off Leith Walk yesterday, got chatting with the guy and he pays £850 pm before any bills, and hes expecting a £60/£90 rise. TBF its a great location with great pubs and transport links, but £850 for one bed??? It used to be better/cheaper in Glasgow (where my son is) but anywhere near the Universities is awful for long term lets now. Someone is making a fortune (and its no me, by the way, my hourly rate is fine !!) out of our young people.

tbf North Berwick has always been like that - back in the day it was (and remains) the retirement home for many an auld ex finance / law / doctor person who wanted to move out of town and be closer to the gazzilion golf clubs. There are certainly little pockets in Edinburgh (Grange / Morningside) where theres many English settlers.............but I'm not sure its such a big influx as you might think. See also G12 along the M8, my son lives around it and i've heard a few English accents.

Oh, in other news I was in the ticket office yesterday and we have sold nearly 3000 STs more than at the same time in 2023.

The Pie character is actually pretty funny, and as LL notes above - very good live. Unfortunately - and like too many of the supposedly serious media commentators - he hasnt really done his homework properly on this situation. Frankly there are dozens of areas where he could ridicule the Scottish Govt but to jump on this bandwagon is a wee bit beneath him, especially if he doesnt really understand it.

I was in the car with my father in law yesterday and he was ranting on about "the police can now record anything and now have these powers to tell employers all about what your neighbour reported about you.......for anything, and they didnt have this power yesterday". Honest to f**k it took all my self control not to call him out as the reactionary right wing fuckhead that he is - but my wife was actually doing a more measured job of putting him straight on actual facts. The media is absolutely culpable for this shite, and while I have little sympathy with people who are too lazy to see past the headlines in the Daily Mail / Express / Record / BBC you would at least think the editors could dredge up stories that were vaguely true?

Not sure that Rowling is quite as brave as she is portraying herself either. Asserting that sex is a biological fact or that it is not changed just by virtue of the gender by which someone chooses to identify is not and never can be a hate crime under this legislation.* So her saying that someone identifying as a woman is actually a man - isnt an offence under the new law. *stolen from Prof Adam Tomkins who helped draft the law.
