All in all, weird season, ended up roughly where we're meant to be, somehow.

Scored a million goals, scored some belters, conceded nothing but horrors.

Scottish cup a disaster, league cup a disappointment. Still quite like this team?

Also can we stop hooking Davor as a standard option, we go to pieces every fucking time.

I'm fine with keeping "out of possession Davor" on for the full 95, but subbing "Davor with the ball" as early as possible.

  2. I think we should probably lose that PCA we have with Halliday.  I don't think he's particularly bad, but I feel the money would be better spent elsewhere. The only advantage that I could see with him is to add veteran presence for the weans, and cover us if we extend Slattery

We should also tell Blackburn that Gent was in the same box as hallidays PCA that we lost, and the fact that he looks like our now signing, Jorge Jent, is just a coincidence.

I think people shit talking Spittal are telling themselves stories. He still works his ass off, and stuff just wasn't coming off for him today. He should still be our poty.

  3. I'm sure the "well society needs capitalists" crowd are the same venn circle as the "scrap the women's team" ghouls.

In reality, how much money woild genuinely push us to the "next level"? And what even is the next level? We have St. Mirren and Killie enjoying their turn doing what we do every 5 years or so, then it will be a different two when those teams either sell their good players or try to be too clever, like we normally do at the end of our good cycle.  If we wanted to guarantee top 4 and cups, we'd need to spend more than Hearts, hibs and Aberdeen, but they're as unpredictable as everyone else. So how much more money than those three teams would we need to absolutely guarantee 3rd every season? My back of a napkin calculations suggest it would be a fucking shit load.

So even though punting the women's team and telling the community teams to buy their own strips could make us the  millions we need to get third, it's only fucking third, and now the weans are crying and weve pissed off half the planet.  We'd have to stop maintaining the ground and challenge the OF just to make it worthwhile.

Won't go too much into politics, but if you're not a millionaire but you're a tory, you're a gimp.

  4. I dont actually think we'd lose 5, but that seems to be whats generally mooted as the downside of top six. With absolutely nothing to lose, we could be a dangerous prospect for the teams that have something to play for. Then you have killie and hearts just seeing out the season...

I was at peace with "just don't be stranded at the bottom come the split" in December, so I'm not going to be distraught if we don't get it done next week.

On another subject, I can't wait for next January's frenzy about Bair coming back on loan from Leeds or something.

  5. Dundee will beat Aberdeen if it comes to it. Aberdeen are soft and think they're safe, which they probably are.

Being in with a fair shout of the top six in the last pre split game is great considering the run we had. I absolutely would prefer losing 5 games in the top six over being best of the bottom six. For one, it's more money, and also I'd rather f**k up the title for someone (ideally with a goal from Oli Shaw), over dooming Ross County to a playoff that they're going to win anyway.

I don't think it matters what half were in, Theo Bair will still find his way to 20 goals.

  6. Encroachment? Was that the reason for the confusion after the goal? I just assumed the keeper was wasting time.

From the still shared by the person claiming it was encroachment, there's daylight between Gent's feet and the line. Also, Dundee were encroaching (not that it helped them much), so it would have been a retake anyway.

The penalty is a stonewaller going by the dumb rules that have been in place since var came in. No one likes the current rule, but it's what it is for now. We've been done by it multiple times this season, so I'm not going to complain when we get one.

Ideally we would scrap var, but it's here to stay, and nothing about scottish refs suggest they'll get better at implementing it. Instead, I expect them to expand what var can check, then all pat each other on the back for making the game more about them.
