  1. Don't think it will make much difference giving Ashgar the boot now. Only 3 points from Killie and still think we would finish above them. Ross County too. Even if United finished in playoffs think we would win comfortably, like St. Johnstone did last season. I suspect other teams will be dragged into the relegation battle, Motherwell, even Hibs, maybe even St. Mirren & St. Johnstone. Could be as tight a league as last season. Not been a great season for sure, but still confident United will stay up.
  2. How did Josh Mullin end up at Hamilton? Always rated him at Livingston & Ross County, thought he'd end up with a Premiership team. Did he go off form for a while? He was good as a winger.
  3. I will be watching Hamilton v ICT match live via iPlayer tonight. Easy for me to say, but looking forward to it, something to do on a Friday night. Wish there were more Championship matches on the TV. Hope the full play offs will be televised, if Dundee finish in the play off spot, will be box office!
  4. Guess that would have an effect on a team, when some players still on Premiership salaries, while others on Championship? Can anyone estimate the difference per week? Should they make the play offs, still wouldn't bet against ICT going up through them. Having Inverness in Premiership along with County makes superb away days for the rest of us!
  5. Nothing against Jim Goodwin, but don't think he has the experience or the tactical genius needed to be a success. I'm sure Aberdeen will finish mid table, safety, but not expecting fireworks from them for the rest of the season, or next to be honest, I hope Goodwin gives youth players a chance, would be great to see and he would go up in my estimation if he does play the youth and drop the dead wood. Aberdeen were obviously desperate for a replacement, felt you could have got a much bigger name, proven mansger with better experience and contacts. Goodwin just a bit boring & average, will be interesting seeing how they do, While Aberdeen will be up for this, players trying to impress Goodwin, see no reason why United cannot win here, decent counter attacking football should see us a goal or three. Away win United!! With Hibs playing Celtic, Rangers playing Motherwell, even Hearts away to St. Mirren, could be a great chance to overtake teams in league, gain more on Hearts. Really looking forward to this match. .
  6. At least there is a cup match to look forward to. Been a while since Aberdeen won a cup? How long ago was that? Genuially forgot!
  7. How much of the success was down to people like Terry Butcher, Charlie Christie, even John Hughes and scouts? Remember ICT made some great signings from lower leagues in England round Butcher's time particularly. Even outgoing players lost to Aberdeen and the like, were well replaced. Certainly appeared to have very good scouts who could find quality. Why has the quality lately not been as good? Though I guess it's the same for most teams in the Championship, this season particularly. Has any team being outstanding outside Arbroath?
  8. Think also only 1 team will be promoted from Championship this year, can see the Premier team easily dealing with play off final. Even Dundee if fall in play off placebwill coast it. Hope Arbroath do it, but can't see past Killie winning title, That relegation place, too early to say. Dundee hopefully. Let's see how long St. Johnstone's recent form lasts, bet they lose this weekend.
  9. Aberdeen (A), Livingston (A), Hearts (H), St. Mirren (A) All very winnable league games. Would swap all for a cup final win though. Celtic are beatable at home, can be done!
  10. While every team sooner or later blames the manager, were there not issues before Billy Dodds even arrived? ICT from my memory were hardly playing teams off the park with silky football under Robertson. He seemed to be 'criticism free', few complained about Robertson. Didn't get you promoted either. What changed? They appeared to be flying under Dodds at start of season. Was certainly a very impressive run, was he not due some credit there? Neil McCann was a great temporary appointment, was there no chance of getting him full time? Don't remember what happened at the time. If ICT make the play offs, which I think they will, is that not a successful season? Why are they expected to finish above bigger budget teams like Killie/Hearts/Dundee Utd/Dundee? Is Scot Gardiner doing a good job? Why is Dodds getting all the blame, isn't there more to this than simply swapping the manager out? Dodds still a United legend, hope he does succeed and get ICT promoted.
  11. Think St. Mirren have done well here, avoiding inexperienced Naismith & Brown. Robinson should do well there.
  12. Even if Partick win their games in hand, would still expect ICT to finish above Raith Rovers and finish in play offs. Is Dodds under pressure now? Aren't play offs to be expected for ICT and generally considered a good season? . Killie being title favourites, which they still are, sadly. Play off matches are influenced by form on the night, hit form right time and it could be beating Dundee in that play-off final!! Long way to go yet.
  13. St. Mirren, Livingston and Motherwell could well fall into the battle here. Just takes 2 or 3 defeats, then real pressure hits. Bottom three teams are used to this having faced this all season, rest not. If St. Mirren go for a poor appointment such as Naismith or Brown I think they could really struggle. Watch them fall basically!! Just when it looked like St. Mirren could have a great choice of experienced managers to select, some of the names listed earlier definitely would do well, Naismith & Brown float to the top. Unbelievable! Will they? Surely not?? Motherwell I hope fall down the league too, far top physical dirty team they are. Not a good watch. Clever tho. Think St. Johnstone / Dundee / Ross County will continue to win matches here and there, dragging others into it. Dundee bottom hopefully, think the play off place could be a suprise. I'm going for St. Mirren
  14. After all the recent praise, can see St. Mirren get sucked into relegation battle if they hire badly. Livingston too. That play off place will be close. Dundee down, of course. Think Ross Co have enough quality to stay up. Motherwell too physical & dirty a team to get relegated, very poor watch though! Wonder who will end up in play off place...
  15. What's happened to Billy Dodd's promotion push up there? One point looked like ICT play offs totally guaranteed, now Partick in driving seat with heaps of games in hand. Quite similar to Hearts situation with Neilson at moment, high placed in league, yet pressure on manager. Dodds appeared to be doing superb earlier in the season? Hope he still gets you guys promoted at expense of Dundee hopefully.
  16. I'm still a fan of off the Ball, maybe showing my age, but I enjoy it. Like listening to in background, with West Ham v Newcastle on mute.
  17. Derek Adams is decent IMO, Paul Lambert would be even better. Would be massive getting either and would be huge upgrade on Goodwin. Experience and their contacts would be excellent for signings. I hope its Ross!!
  18. When Ross left St. Mirren back 2018, did he leave on good terms?
  19. Yeah, Goodwin rising star, team are only 5 points away from Ross County in 3rd bottom, how the mighty have fallen!
  20. Wouldn't be suprised at all if McGhee somehow keeps Dundee up, can see him getting the team going. Its next season where I think the implosion will happen.
  21. I was worried they were getting Ross, or even Derek Adams. McGhee will be a great laugh!!
  22. Appears very little experience to me, suprised the Don's can't get a bigger name, someone who has achieved something. How far the Aberdeen have sunk really!
