How you think I’m suggesting Dick Campbell is quite beyond me TBH. As far as. Murphy, you’re using the if word again.

You started the thread talking about Dick Campbell and I used the if word talking about him.

Yes I'm using the word 'if' in relation to Murphy because the season isn't finished. There's also no guarantee Annan would stay up by changing managers, sometimes consistency is best.

Out of interest how do you think Annan should be performing this season?

After yesterdays horrendous and very expensive loss ( again in the Scottish cup ) would it not be apt to do as Dick Campbell did and say thank and let a better manager keep Annan in division 1 ?

You're suggesting Dick Campbell resigned because of poor form and you believe Peter Murphy should do the same? Are you advocating Dick Campbell as Annan's next manager?

If the answer to these questions is yes then you're needing a touch of realism here. Dick Campbell is 70 year old, has been around the Scottish game for years, has his own business and without wishing to sound ageist has probably managed his last football club.

Peter Murphy on the other hand is making his way in the game and is not going to give up at Annan until he's forced out. He probably has financial commitments that managing Annan helps pay towards. If he keeps Annan 8th or 9th and wins the playoffs his CV will look much more appealing to other clubs

You’re 100 % correct on the wannabe/ has been answer,

.There is a manager across the border who operates very successfully in a much worse geographical area ?

Mainly due to he’s very competent.

They area is so poor its attracted the Americans to CARLISLE??

Dumbartons draw just makes things worse.

Annan were beat 5-4 after extra time by a club with a similar possibly larger budget than your own, it's not as if you were pumped by an EoS club.

Annan would also have been a differently numbered ball to Dumbarton if you had got through so wouldn't have got the same draw they did either.

Would you be asking the question if you had got to the next round?

My rule of thumb was that they weren't going to High school knowing! With all of mine they worked out the tooth fairy was me and then followed Santa. I'd say last year was the first (youngest almost 10) we didn't have Santa.

That said, they still keep it going for their half sister who is 6.

I absolutely get that they can't go to high school still believing and most kids have a reasonable suspicion by the time they hit P5 but to tell before they're even in P3 seems a bit like wanting to spoil Xmas for them for me. My son knows that the ones who go to Xmas parties and in shopping centres etc aren't "the real santa" but he still believes as far as I know that he's real.

What time do folk with 10-14 yr olds fine their kids going to bed?

My son is 8 and goes to bed any time between 9 and 10pm. He's never been one for needing loads of sleep and he can get up about 7am no problem. His older cousins (11 and 13) are still in bed before him.

This question is mainly for those with older kids but we'll all have our own experiences from our youth:  at what age is the time to tell kids the truth about Santa? I ask because I took my son and a neighbours' 7 year old daughter to school in the car this morning, while we were waiting in the car the girl whispered in my ear "does he know Santa's not real?". I'm giving it the whole "of course he's real" but she tells me quietly that her mum has told her he's not and it's parents who do it all. She's the only child of the neighbour so it's not as if there are any older kids in the house who would have said anything.

All I can think now is that the neighbour is an arsehole and what the f*ck is wrong with people

  6. That is never a red card, would have been a different game if it stays 11 v 11.

A horrendous referee who if he was as rated now as he was a year ago would have been refereeing in the Premiership this weekend and not doing Morton v Bo'ness Utd. He will be back doing LL and WoS games soon enough

How is the one on Alison a foul but the Newcastle guy jumping on the Arsenal defenders back the other week not?

I thought they were both fouls. If McTominay's 'goal' in Spain was a foul then the one on Allison was a definite

Defending terrible again but for it to come from a free kick that wasn't a foul is galling to say the least. Like "aye that last one was a foul so I'll just blow for this perfectly fine challenge since the advantage didn't work out". That's your FIFA/UEFA representative right there folks.

I've only seen the second half and the two goals this half have come from free kicks given that didn't look like fouls. Doesn't excuse the defending at Stanton's goal or the Goalkeeping at Vaughan's goal but this should still be 0-1

Getting ahead of things slightly I know but if Raith see off Airdrie in the other semi and we manage to win our semi then a Falkirk V Raith final in front of 10/12k  at Tynecastle or Easter Road would be a game to look forward to.

The final is at East End Park is it not?

  10. Like everybody else, I thought we were brilliant last night. If that's the best team in the championship then we have nothing to fear although I don't believe DU were 100 per cent committed last night either.

Delighted for Finn Yeats to score his first goal and I thought he had Middleton in his pocket all night.

An obvious massive mistake from Long for DU's first goal but I'd keep him in goal. Its a mistake and hes a young keeper, even experienced keepers make mistakes. Unlike some around me last night I dont put any blame on him for the second goal, was a good strike that might have taken a nick off Donaldson. Can't keep dropping keepers after a mistake or we'd always be dropping defenders for losing their man, strikers for missing chances etc if there was consistency.

Really not sure where to put this, as this isn't a depression thing. But no other thread seems to fit.

After my old man died, looking back I can see clearly what my reaction was. I went into some kind of overdrive work-wise. I took on every job and task going, and have pushed through tons of stuff. Things I had previously turned down as they looked like thankless slogs, I took on. I think I've just been keeping as busy as I can to keep my brain occupied.

I'm now starting to think this wasn't the best approach. Yesterday one of my mates at work came into my office told me I looked tired, and warned me that if I carry on like I have been I'll have a collapse of some sort. He's seen a few people do what I have been and hit a wall. Then last night the wife made an off-hand comment that if I carry on as I have been, I'll end up dead pretty soon. She meant it in a joking way but there is truth in it.

As I said, not depression but I can see that this all stemmed from March. I've done more work-wise in the last 7 or 8 months than I would normally do in a couple of years. And I have enjoyed it - taking on senior roles is a bit of a power trip, if I'm honest.

I'm not in anyway an expert.

Burying yourself with work is a quite common coping mechanism.

Just disctracting you from the grief about your father,

Maybe allow yourself time to process his passing & listen to your wife.

Absolutely agree with the reply. Throwing yourself into work is an automatic coping mechanism at the time that does eventually wear off. Take some time to process your grief, if your wife and friend are telling you what they did they say it from a concerned point of view.

All these new houses being built there (and also in Hallglen and presumably (eventually) where the college and town hall was) is great but can the health and education infrastructures cope?

It can't cope as it is now!!

Is the old college building a listed building? Seems strange it hasn't been demolished if not

On the meeting thing @FK1Bairn try not to stress too much it might be nothing at all. It's difficult to not stress though, I do it all the time.

I've only quoted this comment as there are far too many supportive comments to quote however as everybody pretty much said, it might be nothing at all. But thank you to all who responded to my initial post.

Today was D-day and despite going on for just under 2 hours, there really was nothing to worry about.  A colleague asked the manager at the end of it not to send an email again summoning us all to a meeting that we were all to attend with no exception because she had also got herself stressed about it and the manager apologised for the wording.

I need to stop automatically thinking something big is happening and just wait and see what happens because you get no extra pay or thanks for stressing

  14. Was wfh yesterday and on logging in found an email my boss sent to the full team on thursday evening saying theres a team meeting at 2pm this wednesday that we're all expected to attend, no exceptions.

I keep wondering whats going to be said at the meeting as i'm reading it as there's something big going down.  I know I'm being silly and it's probably the start of monthly team meetings that we haven't had in about 4 months.

This on top of the sudden passing of a former colleague last week we all knew and liked has got my brain working overtime.

The best we’ve looked in the past few weeks was against Alloa when Morrison was injured. I feel when he’s playing we try to make 80%+ of our game go through him.

I agree with this. Morrison is still a danger to opponents but the first half tactics seemed to be get it wide to Morrison to cross. We seemed more fluent against Alloa with Agyeman, Miller and Ross in behind McIver though Alloa gave us the time and space to play that Edinburgh didn't.

  16. We aren't going to play brilliant football every game nor will we get the same time and space to play we got in the first quarter. We just need to dig in and grind out results like we did today and against Stirling. Give me another 23 games winning by 1 goal and we'll win this league.

I'd also like to give a big GIRUY to the two utter roasters behind me in the KM7 stand today who came out with some utterly bizarre comments today such as Nesbitt's the best player we have, Henderson and McIver are weak links, McIver should have been subbed "for a proper footballer" and they'd sack McGlynn at xmas if we're still only 3 points clear.

Just when you think the fans are behind the team and there's a better atmosphere in the stadium along come some idiots to show we've still got a bit to go.

What bright spark from the council thought it was a good idea closing the footpath from West Mains Ind Estate up to the stadium, everybody was walking up the main road with the traffic feet away an accident waiting to happen.

God knows but I'm sure it's to be shut for months. But it is Falkirk Council we're talking about so nothing should come as a surprise!

  18. Absolutely not at our best but 3 points in the bag. Quite a few of our players not fully at it today, don't know if teams are sussing us out or if Hogarth's calamity shocked some of our players for a bit.

We could easily have been 2 or 3 up by half time but thankfully we went in at least level as Edinburgh would have got a huge lift if they had gone in ahead at half time.

Finally, to the 2 absolute roasters behind me in the KM7 stand today, get McIvor's goal right up ye!

  19. Don't know if it's a new series or a repeat but this was back on C4 tonight at 9pm. Title of this one was The No Body Murder.

I won't spoil it for anybody who hasn't seen it but my god that was unexplainable.

There's another episode on next Monday at the same time

There goes wee Max’s career. Levein teams’ average height for central players is about 6’3”.

Levein described Max recently as one of the biggest prospects in Scottish football. He absolutely loves him and believe he was involved in getting him a move to Saints originally.

He was definitely involved in his loan move to Brechin.

I thought Max was brilliant at Falkirk last season, really stood out though you'd expect that at that level.

It's all well and good Levein talking him up in the past but he wasn't the manager needing results back then.
