Today is the final nail in the coffin of the utterly insane idea that Aberdeen are any sort of rival to Rangers.

Brilliant season, brilliant achievement and fun times all round. If the rumours of Gerarrd taking the trophy to Smith are to be believed then today is complete. Theres no coming off of this cloud.

Rangers had the chance to develop young players in the Scottish lower leagues over a number of years. It wasn't exactly a success story on that front.

Mmm, I remember it well. There was a decent amount of noise going on about bringing youth and copying the Ajax model etc. First time we fielded a team of kids and they went in at 0-0 at half time, they got slaughtered by the fans.

Whole idea was scrapped. Fans don't help their own cause at times.

Almost certainly, but we’ll still play plenty of games in a season where teams won’t do that. Celtic x4, European groups x6, qualifiers x4 plus any knockout games after.

I also think he has the dribbling ability that means he might be able to play in condensed areas, he just didn’t do it for Oostende cause they were a counter attacking team. His actual play in tight spaces was fairly okay from what I watched, and he can definitely dribble.

It’s an interesting signing overall. Gerrard and Wilson both said he fits a profile that were recruiting for, which was intriguing because I don’t think we have a player quite like him. I originally thought he was a Kent replacement but I’m less sure the more I watch.

True, getting our business done nice and early while Celtic are still walking about Parkheed with their thumbs in their mouths, looking in cupboards and asking if anybody fancies the manager's job.

Brilliant physical player. He’s not just fast over distance, he’s explosive over short distance in the same way that Kent is. He’ll be the fastest player in the league. He’s also a goal scorer.

Said before I see him playing the Kent role and I still see that, but I think you could play him up top in Europe in a way that you can’t do with Kent. Flip side is I think he’s less suited to playing with opposition players in front of him.

I posted a bit more about him a few pages back.

Was going to say, sounds like the first thing the SPL jobbers will do is throw bodies at him to deny him space.

  5. Just seen the Kent shuffle.

It's the footballing equivalent of answering your phone with one hand while dealing with a frying pan in the other. so instead of reaching for the spatula you just flick the wrist and everything flips onto its other side perfectly. Leaving you to continue your conversation without missing the details.

    Fantastic.

  6. Said it before on here, Lennon crumbles under pressure. I'm not going to play amateur psychologist  towards a man I've never met , but if I were him I'd just hang it up, cash the chips and enjoy looking at the trophy cabinet.  He's nothing to prove. 10iar was a bridge too far. He arsed it, was going to happen at some point. But see this as well as numerous other incidents, won't work out well for him in the long run. I feel sorry for those who are close to him, he needs to go find a wee village and put everything into perspective for a while.

I'm being totally serious I don't like seeing people struggle. It would be naïve to suggest this is just a middle aged man getting steam boats, the guy has plenty of previous drunk and sober. Time for a break.
