  1. Tabling the initial motion. They knew neither Labour or the Tories could back it and therefore they could claim the moral high ground by saying they were the only party calling for a ceasefire. The potential Labour rebellion was a bonus where they could have a second dig at Starmer.
  2. It’s a bit more complicated than that. No doubt Labours position was a mess but it changed sufficiently enough with their own amendment that even the SNP were backing it. No-one is looking good here. A trap was set, it’s backfired and everyone is now scrambling for cover and forgotten the whole issue of the motion.
  3. More than that. They’ve withdrawn their amendment as well. Toys everywhere.
  4. The SNP tabled the opposition day motion, knowing full well Labour couldn't back it given their previous stance. The Government tabled an amendment (as they normally do and were bound to in this case as they couldn't back the motion as it was different to their public stance). Between them it looked like they had Labour backed into a corner with no way to be able to back any kind of ceasefire. Labour supposedly were going to abstain from the motion but lots of Labour MP's were likely to rebel and back it which would have caused it's own issues for Starmer. Big rebellion headlines, no control of his party etc. It looked like they were in a no win situation until Hoyle gave them an out. Labour MP's can back Labour's amendment and abstain the actual motion if it gets that far.
  5. So not well meaning at all then seeing as all 3 of the main parties are more concerned with their optics than the rights and wrongs of the issue at hand.
  6. You asking about the hospital pass or the move backfiring?
  7. BBC now saying that Stephen Flynn has abandoned his own motion and decided to back Labours amendment as a party. I await the calls for him being spineless and changing his position (while he's welcoming that Starmer has changed his position). Of course he could be using the situation as a political football to be seen to be pursuing a ceasefire of any kind hoping the Labour amendment won't pass and he can then return to his original motion which everyone knows has zero chance of passing... Politicians playing politics with peoples lives eh. Bunch of c***s.
  8. How can it be described as competitive when there's a team 15 points clear at the top and will win the title at a canter? It's more like an uncompetitive farce.
  9. Is it worth the effort? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-68358277
  10. Something in that article triggered a thought I’ve had for a while but never investigated. As far as I know the law basically says your dog has to be under control at all times? Part of her defence was she tripped and that’s how the dogs got loose. Is she still liable for that? What if someone tripped her? What if she tripped over someone’s lapdog? What if she let go of her dogs because she was being attacked by another dog? What if the dogs were in her garden and some random decided to open the gate and let them out? What if someone walking past her on lead dog decided to volley it and the dog took a chunk in retaliation? Where does the liability stop? I’m not talking about this particular case, just hypotheticals. ETA in the case of the 18 year old lassie in East Kilbride. Will she get off because she’s too young and daft to realise fully the implications of her actions?
  11. Cowdenbeath would be invited to enter a B team most likely.
  12. Surely NOTA caters for that? They’re still allowed to express their choice.
  13. Of all the things claimed on this forum to be undemocratic that is right up there. Would love to hear your reasons.
  14. Would love this to be an option as pretty much every politician across the UK is some type of self serving egotistical c**t and they all need a wake up call.
  15. Dentistry is obviously in rude health not just in Scotland but all across the UK. People absolutely do not travel abroad for significant dental treatments according to the BDA. https://www.bda.org/news-and-opinion/news/dental-tourism-patients-need-to-know-the-risks/ I don't think they're talking about nipping over to India for a check-up.
  16. ^^^ impersonating a police officer type post
  17. Surprised they want to be friends in Newton Mearns when they’re rivals everywhere else in Europe. Were they mobbing up to fight Waitrose?
  18. Alternatively maybe he thinks it started as one thing then evolved into another?
