  1. American sport however doesn’t have the concept of free agency that football has. Totally different dynamics.
  2. This would be funny, especially if the leagues went full Neville and started dishing out fines, relegations and points deductions.
  3. You can re-align club football however you want. There’s no way the players are getting less money. Agents will be well alive to that possibility.
  4. Absolutely won’t happen. The players gained power over the clubs years ago. The clubs won’t get it back.
  5. I can’t read the article either but the tweets seem to be indicating we’re bothered that the EU might catch us up. Fucking hope they do. We’ve got our vulnerable vaccinated and our programmes is still going along well so domestic normality should be on the cards. Next step holidays abroad. Go Europe. ETA Tenerife already booked for September. Took a punt a few weeks back.
  6. See the rise of the IPL to the detriment of international cricket for how sportsmen stand on money v representing their country. I know cricketers aren’t as wealthy as footballers and top players don’t need any more money than they currently have, but never underestimate human greed.
  7. This has been coming for a long time. The big 6 have been after a bigger slice of the broadcasting pie for a few years. All so they can move money from our pockets to the players pockets, at the will of agents.
  8. Premier League’s statement has them officially financially bricking it. Dressing it up as the money they contribute to the pyramid but anyone can see through that.
  9. Bit of a red neck UEFA bleating about self interest though.
  10. Lots of PPV subs from abroad for the EPL from the far east etc. I’d guess the most popular non-domestic league hence why 6 English teams involved. Play some games in China etc. and it would probably be financially viable. Would likely trash Sky’s foreign subscriber base for EPL too. If the big 6 did breakaway for this it would be glorious watching the TV companies telling the EPL to hand back the cash. Can’t see the EPL letting them go and still staying in the EPL. Court cases could be epic . Will be stocking up on popcorn for this.
  11. Not unusual for someone to go down at a gig that involves standing still in the sun for hours. ceremonial duties are physically tougher than they look.
  12. No point searching for plaudits. Your sugar daddy has bought the title for you, surpassing the way that Cove bought league 2 last season.
  13. If he knew whether his colleague was a man or a woman his story might have some credibility.
  14. Mixing jags is in a trial phase at the moment (was on the news today). Unless you've signed up for a trial you should be getting the same second jag as first.
  15. I'm not talking about getting vaccinations. I'm discussing the vague criteria of being a carer. The clue is in the link I posted which is the criteria for being a carer. It mentions nothing about vaccinations. Also it doesn't state what you claimed at all. It cites it as an example of potential emotional support (as well as the other things listed). The word "could" leaves it sufficiently vague and open to interpretation. My wife phones her elderly father pretty much every day since my mother in law died recently. Are you trying to claim she isn't giving him emotional support (and she's been vaccinated in case anyone thinks I'm angling for carer status)?
  16. it says nothing about how you give emotional support. doesn't mention you have to be physically with them so why don't you have another go?
  17. Really? Practically every adult in the country can't find a definition to be a carer under the published guidelines? These two are particularly vague. emotional support visiting a relative who lives far away once a month Phoning someone to ask how they're getting on is giving emotional support no? You're having a bit of a nightmare here if you think that can't be stretched.
  18. Of course everyone lives in the same town as all their relatives. Define far away. An hours drive? Two? It's still an utterly stupid definition of being a carer despite your odd attempts to justify it.
  19. I'm not angry about it. Just pointing out it's a system open to abuse. Some of the definitions of carers are also stretching it a bit and most people could fit into one of these categories. https://www.mygov.scot/becoming-a-carer/ Visiting a relative once a month makes you a carer? OK then. I could register under that category probably along with every other adult in the country.
  20. At the time this policy was announced it was blindingly obvious what would happen as there was no mechanism to validate the claims. Literally anyone could claim to be a carer for their elderly neighbour.
  21. especially if you're only jagging 3m out of a population of 5m.
  22. Why would you think the vaccine procurement and roll-out is luck? Human trials started in March/April last year. By July the government had already signed up to buy AZ, Pfizer and Valneva. Hedging your bets with multiple vaccines (at a relatively low cost in the grand scheme of things) was a good strategy. They obviously believed that not all vaccines would be effective or they wouldn't have gone down the multiple vaccine route. As it turns out the efficacy of the vaccines has exceeded all expectations so we will have a huge surplus in the future. They didn't all hit the mark though. Sure we bought GSK which I think has turned out to be a dud. There may be others we've bought that are also duds. It's one of the only things the government has done well during this pandemic so at least give them some credit for it.
