  1. Was signed on loan for a month to play in the Kidderminster first team and ended up playing just 64 minutes of competitive football on 12th March and didn't play again. Link | Link 2 | Albeit, he did feature for Northampton for 45 mins in a friendly against St Mirren and 30 mins against Dundee United this summer. Can only assume he played well enough in those two short appearances for Murray to be convinced to hand a one year deal to him. Full pre season or not, I'm not sure I'd want to chuck him into the starting line up against Cove though.
  2. I've listened to the Bill Clark interview and I don't feel it revealed much. Essentially, John McGlynn and/or Paul Smith flagged to the board in December that Goodwillie could be available to buy. For whatever reason, while there may have been discussions internally and/or with Clyde, nothing happened initially. But surely you can't tell me when Clyde contacted McGlynn/Karen Macartney/John Sim last weekend to try and re-start discussions that McGlynn didn't back the signing or had no knowledge of it? My overall impression is that Clark was detached from other members of the board/Sim. Clark claims to have no knowledge of the transfer since it was a "dead duck" in December and then suddenly he's called on Monday morning to vote on it. I feel like we'd only get the full story from McGlynn/Smith, Macartney or Sim. I understand why Clark might be inclined to protect McGlynn. He was chairman when the decision was made to bring John back to the club and perhaps wants to deflect the focus off him. Maybe I'm being cynical, but that's how it came across to me. At the end of the day, if it wasn't for Goodwillie's tight hamstring on Tuesday night, a man ruled as a rapist in Scotland's supreme civil court, would have played for Raith Rovers and to me - that makes McGlynn and Smith's positions untenable. Same applies to all board members who voted for the transfer. I appreciate some of them have to stay until we get new members in, but they do need to leave at the earliest opportunity. I'm willing to listen to McGlynn's account of events, but I'd be surprised if my opinion changes.
  3. The first step in a long line of action needed. McGlynn, Smith, Macartney, MacDonald, Morgan and Sinton next out of the door please. I don't know how Sim leaves, given he owns everything, but we can't do anything about that at the moment.
  4. Surely John McGlynn and Paul Smith have to go? The statement by the club on Tuesday, while abhorrent, made it abundantly clear that it was a footballing decision to sign Goodwillie. Footballing decisions lie with McGlynn and Smith. No one else. I appreciate that McGlynn is the stereotypical "football man" who confesses his whole life revolves around the sport and perhaps isn't as aware of wider society as he should be, but for him to pursue the signing of someone that a court of law ruled as having raped someone is baffling. I don't believe McGlynn is a bad person, or that he doesn't have morals - he has worked tirelessly to make Rovers a successful community club - but I suspect his obsession with football and winning has clouded his judgement. I can't see any way out of this for McGlynn and that hurts. I had so much respect for him after having such an important role in saving the club after the Anelka fiasco. Most Rovers fans are aware of the stories of him working all hours, even doing plumbing, cleaning and painting around Starks Park to make it a better environment for everyone. We also know how much he's done in Kirkcaldy and the surrounding areas, visiting elderly fans isolated by the pandemic, attending community events and visiting sick children in hospital with the players. The board members that approved the transfer also need to hold their hands up, apologise and leave. And whoever approved the statement that went on the website on Tuesday should leave the club at the earliest opportunity as well, but I can't help feel McGlynn and Smith should be the first to go. "First and foremost, it was a football-related decision." I'm sorry it's come to this, but John, Paul - it's time to go.
  5. Random question... ...can anyone remember that retro, old video game style video Raith TV did once? It was like N64 style and was going through the goals scored at the start of the season. Anybody got a link? Can't for the life of me remember if it was this season or previous.
  6. Perry was bad, well, very bad, when he played for Rovers. Admittedly, might perform a lot better two divisions below, but I wouldn't be too hopeful. Will be interested to see how he gets on.
  7. Sorry to totally verge off topic, but how on earth is Craig Wilson playing for Ballingry Rovers these days? I would never have thought he'd be any lower than the top of of League One at the age of 27. He wasn't spectacular, but he was a solid defender and comfortable on the ball going forward. Does anybody have the faintest what happened to him?
  8. Really like the look of the home kit from the official site, although I thought it looked a bit cheap on Matt Elder's tweet. Hard to tell until you see it in the flesh I suppose. Hadn't noticed the collar until someone pointed it out, not sure I like it. But a big thumbs up from me, overall. I know there have been calls for bringing backs the hoops over the last decade or so, but it feels like the club have really pulled off a bit of surprise with this one, so well done them.
  9. On the post about new season ticket prices and the walk-up price next season, the official website says that this season "unfortunately last season’s free offer for primary school children was the subject of an unacceptable level of abuse, and has had to be discontinued". Anyone able to shed any light on how exactly people abused this feature? I didn't realise they got in for free, was it season tickets or free for paying at the gate? I hope it's not the case that the turnstile operators didn't bother to i.d. kids who claimed to be of primary school age or something, because that clearly could be tightened up if the case.
  10. Looks like Ayr's left back Eddie Malone has signed for Rovers. Decent enough, no better or worse than Dyer.
  11. I'm also quite surprised at how disappointed I am at the news too. I'm not keen on his tendency for the hoofball option, but he was a solid defender at this level, which was proved especially last season in our title challenge. I'm worried that there's not many left backs out there in our budget range that are any better than him.
  12. If that was you, good job. Summed up the situation perfectly.
  13. John Baird's brother has claimed on his Twitter account that Rovers have knocked back a couple of bids for John. Doesn't say when they were knocked back, but he only tweeted it in the last hour or so, so I presume he means today.
  14. On the subject of Gary Wales...I worked out that he made 64 minutes worth of appearances in a Rovers shirt last season from 7 appearances off the bench and 0 starts. This has no relevance to anything on this thread, but it does sum up how his numerous injuries and lack of Baird & Tade (who ironically is injured for 5-6 weeks right now) injuries affected his season.
