Aye, it's the technical stuff that really pisses me off with BBC Scotland's football coverage too. In addition to all you've said there, I always think the actual quality of the pictures is really poor too. Pretty much everything about BBC Scotland's football output on TV is really amateurish. Even Sportscene, which is basically their flagship football show, can look really homemade at times.

There's no way you can look at some of the teams that have qualified for the UECL and tell me that Scotland shouldn't be getting at least one diddy side through the qualifying path for that tournament every season (not including the 3rd place team dropping into it by fucking the Europa qualifier). I know a lot of the really diddy sides like Linfield have qualified through a Champions route, but even through the League route, there are teams with significantly smaller budgets than Dundee Utd and Motherwell who have made it through.

We produce plenty of good players, and even if we didn't, the likes of Hibs/Hearts/Aberdeen have the budget to go out and sign good players who can compete at this level. It's probably a combination of a few things, but the underachievement is really striking when compared with other nations.
