We’ve already got a perfectly good right back with 2 backups at the club.

In my opinion we have the best right back in the league . So I wasn’t advocating signing an expensive thirty something just highlighting that the market was indeed fluid .  As for this Dryhorse business , give me a break . I’m just an Ayr United fan wanting to debate Ayr United . Some of you need to dump the high school chess club stance and just go with the idea that other people see things in other ways .

same Vaclav Hladky that’s been linked with the old firm and several championship clubs down south. Dearie me, Dry Horce is that you?

Just the keepers on Wiki without a club . Don’t know what the Dry Horce patter is all about , however it’s safe to say not a huge amount of keepers about out with young dudes on loan  !

I wouldn’t be looking for signing news just yet ( still nearly 12 weeks to kick off , that time window is like signing players before the season has finished in normal times , does no one  have faith in Kerr’s signings ??? ) , fans have moaned for years about lack of social club and facilities in the stadium , action being taken to rectify those issues is big and welcome news to majority of fans

Let’s be clear on this , the news of the new bar etc is fantastic news ! Long long long over due . If the club use it properly (travel club busses leaving from it) (open for a while after games) then they may just be staggered at the revenue it brings in . Plenty of bars and clubs have been dinning out on Ayr United for quite some time .

On the signings, our last manager had a nose for a player that’s for sure , that’s about 8 or so of his signings move on and up . Kerr on the other hand still has to show what he’s got . I think everyone is optimistic but at the same time nervous ! We most definitely want to retain play off status . It’s gonna be hard but that’s got to be the goal !

Ok , So in your opinion , who from the players available list on wiki would be both within our price range and of some benefit to us . .? Just wondering  !

Well I’ve no idea what the budget is. What I’m saying is Steven Lawless had a cracking season and would’ve been looking for a move to progress his career. He’s not looking at a move down the divisions to better his career.

There are literally hundreds of players we can pick from that have either been released from Premiership clubs in Scotland, players in lower leagues looking to progress or any number of guys punted from clubs down South.

If you’re asking me outright who I’d like to see us sign that wouldn’t be too unrealistic then I think Stephen McGinn would be a class replacement for Kerr. He’s pretty much finished in the top flight although I’d imagine he may eat into our budget a fair bit. Ray Grant is another one who would be pretty realistic and ready to step up from Clyde.

At the end of the day we can all say who we’d like Kerr to sign but the reality is he’s probably got 4 or 5 players that he feels are both realistic and good enough for each position he needs to fill. He’ll ask about all of them and from the ones that get back to him he’ll make a decision. There will be a fair bit of sitting around and waiting on Kerr’s part as he waits to see who he can and can’t bring in.

Would agree with you on McGinn , might be ready to do a Kerr and come to the likes of us as a senior pro/captain as he looks to the next stage in his career .  I am however curious where our expectations are when a guy like Cadden is deemed not good enough and goes to L2 in England and Lawless is good enough but is way out our range in L1 . Doesn’t seem to leave us much wriggle room .

I know we cant sign five or six on McGinn type costs but one or two would be nice . We are after all trying to secure another play off slot . Aren’t we .

Talk amongst Ipswich fans that the likes of Drinan, Ndaba and McGavin will all be available to leave as they’ve not been handed squad numbers for the coming season.

I thought Drinan had another year to go on his deal down there  , would be some great news if we got him on loan , even better if he’s been released and we get for keeps . Three year deal would be superb .

  6. I’d say our priorities would be replacement for Harvie (Sean Kelly) and for Kerr himself (Stephen McGinn) plus a keeper and a centre forward(Drinan) , of course a centre half (Peter Hartley) would be usefull as well  . The bracketed names are available but I’m aware of our place in the pecking order so I won’t hold my breath ... over to you Mr Kerr .

It’s really hard to see what we need transfer wise for next season until we know what current players are staying and leaving. Presuming all the furlough players apart from Gillespie who I can’t see being offered anything stay then I’d say we’re looking at something like:

1x GK (Back up keeper to be Academy keeper)

    1x CB

    3x CM

    2x Wingers

    1x Strikers

That means we’d be looking something like:

4-3-3: New keeper, Houston, Muirhead, new CB, Harvie, Murdoch, new CM, New CM, McCowan, Moore, New winger

Subs- Graham (?), Geggan, Roscoe, New CM, New Winger ,  Moffat, New Striker

If the squad is shrinking for next season surely the injury prone players on furlough would be extremely risky signings  .

  8. Fact of the matter is the Pars have done some good business . What we will do remains to be seen . As a club we appear to be moving forward . What Kerr does in the market is critical . This is the challenging summer McCall alluded to , its going to be a huge challenge  for Kerr to get it right and keep as in a play off spot .  I’m optimistic in the ability of the management team ,but they will need to be backed by the board as it’s a massive re-build .

Isn't this pretty standard for Dunfermline? Make a couple of signings that make ye think they mean business but then revert to mediocrity elsewhere

To be honest I have been happy with most of those signings . If we had signed those five our fans would have been buzzing and talk of promotion would be the norm . We just have to accept that we’re not paying top money so we have to wait for the leftovers. That and the possible rabbit out a hat from big Mick with his contacts in the south !
