  1. Gonna be interesting team lines tomorrow, does young Kirk get a start ? Indeed does JML get a start or does Bully have them on the bench for the last half hour .

Looks like we are still looking for a lefty , doubt it’ll be Sibald , but at least we tried to get him . Maybe these kind of players are a couple of seasons away yet . There’s been others linked , just need to wait and see .

Game day at last tomorrow , looking forward to seeing how we gel , how the new guys fit in and of course seeing our new no 9 getting off the mark .

Can anyone actually see this being a good enough squad to be midtable this season? I know I'm sounding synical but I was really expecting a bit more. Still time but the hope build up from insiders, to nothing so far happening. I'm at the meh stage

I think the 11 featured earlier should be enough to get past Elgin and QoS , hopefully accruing zero injuries. There is a bigger picture however , the three or four coming in would need to be starters if we are to dream of a top five finish . I have a feeling way may have to lower our sights and will be in for a really tough season . Hopefully fitness , cohesion and organisation will get us out 5he bottom four .

him about Ayr signing Musonda and that he's a Zambia international.

Then I started thinking, what players have played internationally and appeared for Ayr.

I could only think of a few. (Players who have made an international appearance before joining Ayr)

Andy McLaren, Junior Mendes, Kevin Kyle, Andy Walker, Craig Beattie, Robbie Winters, Luc Sonner.

Anyone know of any others? ☺️

Not too forget George Burley and I think his last signing , Arthur Albiston .

  4. So  it’s Elgin next Saturday with a bounce game against Falkirk squeezed in mid week to get Lawson and Bangala (maybe) a game . We do seem a bit short of goals as has been mentioned. An attacking midfielder and a lefty with some goals would be brilliant acquisitions . I’d be really surprised if we managed to get Sibald however Maxwell is possible , maybe h3 could bust his total of 5 in what was a car crash season . I’m also coming round to the idea of another decent forward , who I have no idea , back to you Mr Glendinning .

For Elgin we should be looking at two up top surely ? At the moment that would be Dipo and either Bryden or Ashford . Lawson and O’Conner maybe a half each . Anyway not much time left now , looking forward to it.

Well, the wee man loved it.  My old man who is notoriously hard to please went as far as "Big Dipo will definitely do a job" which believe it or not is a top top level of praise.

Safe to say your old man is bang on , Dipo only got 45 mins but looked the part . Bumped his marker off more than once . The irony is he looks like perfect foil for big Tomi . Can’t have everything I suppose . Murdy has a great game as did our centre back pairing of Frankie and big Sean .  The rest seemed a bit young and light weight . Could do with some experienced lumps in the side . But as somebody else said it was just a bounce game and we still have three or four to come into the side .

An experienced centre back - No idea who
    A centre midfielder - Crawford
    An attacking midfielder - Sibbald?
A forward. Maybe a striker who can also play wide in front three? - Prince Henry

I don’t think this is too far away . Despite all the kicking and screaming Broadfoot makes sense as back four cover . Same rules apply to Crawford , not my favourite but the boy can play when he’s on the ball . Sibald would be great but there may be serious competition, if not him maybe a lefty from down south or a loan from up here . The winger come striker is harder to see , if it’s a loan like the Prince fella then he’d need to be starting most weeks , which is doubtful as we won’t go with two up top all the time . I guess this week will let us know one way or another ......

Kilmarnock in the past have advertised in the AP for seasons, I'm not having a massive dig, but relatively unknown guys won't immediately excite fans, however much they promise and I'm looking forward to both of them, just think we need a wee signing lift. Sure the club are working tirelessly on that front and I'm aware they will have a wage structure, but sometimes you might need to push the boat out on a  couple that are just that bit better than those around you, a player a level up makes a massive difference....Lafferty......Shankland for example. I think we have the basis for a real competitive team just need to add the something special bit, you'll be repaid in season sales and extra money higher league finishes give you.

I don’t think we are at a level yet for truly marquee signings , however if we managed to sign Craig Sibald I’d be highly delighted. Maybe once we have stabilised on the park and got the infrastructure projects completed of the park the time for say the return of a Shankland for a season or so swan song will transpire .....

  8. I think the Tomi debate is immaterial , the minute he started to avoid calls we steamed ahead with Dipo. . This lad is our first choice centre forward . No doubt backed up with Bryden , Ashford and whoever the winger come striker may be . It’s looking clear that we’ll be playing a 433 or even a 451 given we have signed Bangala as a holder ! The 433 would suite two wide players the 451 more useful for a right/left half combo with a Sibald type advanced in the middle . To splurge a top salary on another out and out no 9 wouldn’t be impossible but would be a bit extravagant given our current impasse at centre half . Anyway if this is how it ends with Tomi then it’s thanks for everything big fella and all the best .

See while I think this is slightly negative it does feel like we’re maybe losing out on players signing for us because it’s maybe a tough sell to convince them it’s the right move for them to come here. Not ITK  but seems that way. I’m sure it’ll all come good.

As a club that finished 8th in the Championship we have our work cut out to convince players it’s us they should sign for . However we got Ben Dempsey and Dipo Akinyeme So it can be done .

Cuthbert not coming is a massive blow he was club captain coach material don’t know what happened but I believe that deal was a certainty to happen so can’t see us getting anybody of that quality in now seriously disappointing.

Would have been perfect for us and encouraging that the club had a crack at it , but always a risk that a player who has been in the one area so long has put down some roots , kids at school , who knows !

I see Mihai Popescu is still available, don’t know much about him other than he spent some time at Hamilton.

Having went for Cuthbert I’d expect us to be looking at similar for one centre half slot and somebody more flexible for the second centre half slot . People are writing big Kirk off but he can play both right and left centre back as well as both full back positions . If not him then somebody with a left foot  and a left bias would be better .
