I wouldn’t be hugely surprised if Mr McCall made a move . I’d be hugely disappointed , but McCall has form for this kind of move . If Cammy Smith came in the opposite direction it would ease the pain but realistically it’s more lightly to be a Ross McIver . Big Tomi comes in for some stick and he really needed to do better last night . However if he was to finish the season with 15 goals he’ll be hard to hold onto . Hopefully he stays for another season and improves like Rose , Harvie etc all did in their second season . The fact he’s not cup tied makes me a bit suspicious. Again he might be an asset to be traded for the greater good . Hope not though , we are developing a habit of letting our top goal scorers walk season on season : Shankland , Forrest , McCowan ...... On the Bradley substitution , it had to be McAlister hooked and Maxwell moved into left central midfield , but I get it that Reading was struggling . Incidentally I though Houston had a very solid game . Our window priority’s have to be left centre half , 2 x experienced midfielders and a new striker ,either at no 9 or no 10 ....If we are ambitious and aggressive in the market we should be ok . If we go down the youth loans path we struggle somewhat .... -

Oh Tomi Tomi Tomi .......... Hopefully we have quality coming in after New Year . We are right in a fight for survival . It’s mission critical to have a better window than Accies , Morton and QoS , we simply must beat Queens next week . After that the really tough fixtures begin ..... -

Does anyone know if the club plans to run some buses out of the Hub for the Killie game ? Or are buses still in the bin due to the virus ? Think a few beers will be required for the New Year Derby ...... -

As much as I hope Smith will bring forward the summer plans by six months , I have a feeling he won’t and we’ll give Duffy the window and probably the rest of the season . If the rumours are true and it’s four in and four out in the window then the question would be who ? It certainly looks like a left sided centre half will be a priority . The rest are open to question . Obviously centre midfield needs attention, so one there, maybe two . Adeloye will have suitors , 8 goals in half a season isn’t bad . I wonder if un cup tied Tomi will be horse traded for the greater good ? Talking of horses , Afolabi can go , he’s poor and costing McKenzie development minutes . So our January team might be a fill in the gaps below unit : McAdams Houston Aero (New player) Reading Bradley Murdoch (New Player) O’Conner (New Player) (New Player or Adeloye) -

It’s all about the window now , that and damage limitations in the games leading up to it . In an ideal world we’d be brining in two or three that would be seen as long term signings . Picked by our long term in coming manager . However that’s a lot of moving parts .... we’ll just have to hold our breath and see what happens . Maybe Reading or Adeloye will attract some interest and thus change the dynamic a bit .... -

Love the way you brush aside the addition of a £200k bit of real estate, paid for totally by the Chairman . Real estate that will provide a facility that most fans have been wanting for years . Oh and the small matter of creating revenue for the football club . If you wanted to ,you could mention the re purchase of the car park or maybe even the purchase of the land behind the North Terrace ? Not that your going to do that either ,or even wonder why the Chairman would want to buy both parcels of land . I get that your not happy with the team , who is at the moment ? However the cycle off bleating and greeting is pissing everyone off . There is about six posters left on the Ayr United portion of this platform , all the moaning minis with not much else to say other than howling at the moon . -

There are two types of loans really , rookie development, which has been discussed in the last few post but there is a second type , contract wind downs . There are quite a few players in the Premiership who are in the last few months of their contracts , they need to be playing football now with a view to getting a deal somewhere for next season . Ayr could do very well in this market if they choose to be bold . Names who may go out on loan include : Declan McDaid , Keegan Jacobs , Robbie Crawford , Lee Erwin to name but a few . -

You never know it just might be . Most of our team are out of contract in May , it would be their interests to clock in as they’ll be needing a contract from somebody next season . However St Mirren are a proper Premiership team and will have too much for us in our current state I fear . Important think is we made the tie and will lift some cash . Hey St Mirren might even leave us Lee Erwin on loan for the rest of the season ... -

St Mirren will bring a decent crowd down , hopefully we can match them . Could make about £50k out it , that would get us three players in the window till May . Get the tickets printed and out now , Christmas presents etc ... -

Watched them train on Monday for a little while at Cambusdoon . Looked to me like Moff was training on his own . Team we’re doing shuttles at the clubhouse end , keepers were at the other end goals , Moff was in the middle going through a routine with one off the coaches . There might have been a perfectly good reason for this , but that’s what I saw . Im not in the camp that says Moff is the answer to all our Championship woes , but against Albion Rovers on Saturday I’d play him up top with Tomi all day long . On all the flack getting dished out in the direction of Smith , give it a rest . He’s in the early days of his tenure , he’s here for the long haul . Plenty of good times ahead . -
Winning this game could pay for our entire window . Maybe time for Moff and Tomi up grown and Aero at centre half .Loads on here tempted to not bother going but it’s too important a game for that .

The team is rotten , they have chucked it . New staff required now . Five or six senior pros required in the window . Most of that team are L1 material . Big job ahead . It’s over to Mr Smith now ! -

It is what it is , we’ve been doing band aid fixes since McCall left . We need a plan and I have no doubt there is one . However the roof is on fire and we have to react . Everyone knew how yesterday would pan out . The dressing room has gone , the team don’t give a f**k . So either we regroup in the summer in L1 . Or we stand a fight right now . Don’t know which is the best economic model ., but as a fan of our towns club I’d be in the stand up and be counted group ! We’ve been here before and it can be turned around . Anybody Willie Jamison and co arriving ? -

Hate seeing the club in this state . Duffy is a good guy and deserved his chance , which also bought the club time to get plans in place for the future . Maybe the club planned the big switch , manager , coaches and players in the summer ? Well results (or lack of them) dictate the timetable . So I reckon those plans need to be brought forward . Christmas time is a possibility but I’d be inclined to change things now . If we were waiting for a target that is in a contract at the moment either managing or playing , then bin it and get the available candidates interviewed now . A new appointment for the Albion Rovers game would be perfect , giving the manager a pretty easy game to get his feet under the table . Hopefully we’d get a new boss bounce for the next three critical games . Failure in these pre Christmas games would pretty much consign us to the Seaside League , it would just leave us too much to do after Christmas . So Messers McIntyre , Levine , McCann etc get your interview suits looked out .... -

Hopefully Robbo is right and there is nothing in this , however there are one or two factors that can’t be ignored. 1. McCall needs a centre half . 2. If there is a fee involved it would give us budget to get two in , assuming we have two targets identified. 3. We have plenty of centre half’s , two just in plus Baird (former target of Hopkin). Only leaves Aero . 4. Aero was benched for the Arbroath game . Issue with lack of training . For me it’s an absolute no no . If it’s a budget thing then surely we can peddle Chalmers and perhaps Miller down to L1 . Even if we paid part of their wages until May . Might allow us to get one in . Can’t see us being strapped though ... -

The above point is the crux of the matter . There are a pretty sizeable number of Ayr fans who yearn for a return of the McCall years , well the last couple anyway . However despite having the best centre forward in our history (probably) and one or two other players of real quality we couldn’t finish above fourth . Our beautiful passing game died in the winter and teams like Ross County crushed us on their way to the title . All that as well as the fiasco in Auchinleck . This is the main conundrum even with our improved budget it’s highly un lightly that we’ll be able to pass our way to the Premiership . So we either look at a style that has worked and we can afford like Livingston’s or find another manager who will play a nice style of football but in the Championship . For the record I do think we haven’t found the correct balance yet , we are too predictable . A central midfielder is a must , also the bullet needs bitten and two strikers played , at least at home . -
