  1. Agreed , put yourself in McInness’s shoes , Hearts and Hibs jobs gone then if not Killie then who ? Dundee maybe or back to Saints (doubt it) .
  2. Not a bad shout , their time lines collide at Hibs . Another would be Marvin Barkley at Livingston , captain and reserve coach . A double header with him and Effie Amborse would be a blast . Both able to play as well....
  3. Can’t imagine big Tomi coming up here from London for £500 a week , apparently he’s buzzing about town in a Range Rover ...So I think we paid decent money to most of this squad ..
  4. Going to need to top those numbers to get three or four players in at Christmas. Be looking at £1,000 a week for anyone coming to us from the Premiership .
  5. To lighten the mood a bit , the craic with Mathie in the Hub on Friday would indicate that he is well down the road with regards signings in the window . Admittedly I don’t think the surrender in Dumfries would have decreased the pressure he is under . To the QoS fans on here trying to bait the Ayr lads , your a total irrelevance normally but at the moment you can times ten that . The next few weeks is going to be a costly business , Duffy and Hopkin’s backroom staff will be requiring a pay off . If we can’t get our new guy to resign from his current team (if that is the case) then his club will be requiring payed off as well . Then your on to new player’s and signing on fee’s etc . However the do nothing boat has sailed ....
  6. If/when Duffy leaves the club , how long would Dave White be able to hold the fort , as we look for a replacement ?
  7. Duffy’s position is untenable. His time has to be up now . Urgent action is now required .
  8. Think there might be something odd in my coffee this morning but Henry’s post above is bang on the money . I think the third paragraph is very interesting as well as correct , if we can get four in place and grab three or four points before the Killie game then that game on the 2nd could be come pivotal in our recovery this season . Mathie mentions that he needs us to be at the other end of the table next season . So going by his statement he doesn’t seem to entertain a trip to L1 in May . However talking the talk is a lot easier than walking the walk . This window has to be our Willie Jamieson moment . Duffy and the team upgrading our survival chances buys time for the correct long term appointment . By the sounds of it ,it won’t be some obscure wildcard , as Mathie want to sell the club to the wider community in south Ayrshire . A recognised manager and even one or two names in the team known to most , would start to move the project in the direction needed .
  9. With the Passport business in mind is there lightly to be a crowd of over 10,000 on the 2nd ?
  10. I’m sure it was mentioned by Smith before ,that it was to be a stand with terracing at the front , hopefully a a similar angle to the ones at Tynecastle etc , the current view from the North Bank is average . There was also mention of a Gym going in somewhere as well as hospitality. Revenue creating infrastructure.
  11. No not offended at all . Guy needed to get his chance , he got his chance , by half time v Rovers it was done . I didn’t wish for it to happen as some did but it happened none the less . The blow back threatened to put this season in the bin . Mathie coming in has given Ayr United a second chance to make something off this season , obviously a down grade on what we’d have wanted , but something positive never the less . Me a snowflake ? Not even in the next life moosh ..... Enjoy Dumfies , who knows the worm just might turn down there .
  12. Wow I’ve triggered the snowflake quartet ! You guys kill me . Well metaphorically anyway . Ceeeeyaaa .
  13. Pretty much backed every Ayr United since McLeod the first time round . That’s what fans do until the end .
  14. You just can’t help yourself Mr Negative can you ? Whatever your doing for a living drop it immediately, there is a post waiting for you in London working with the other two modellers (worst case scenarios only) at Sage . I gleaned plenty of information from that article , he mentioned that the academy was important but hinted it should be providing more players and hinted that it was odd that it wasn’t in-house ! He mentioned that other clubs of our size were doing fine (St Johnstone) and there was no reason we couldn’t do like wise . He mentioned getting the town behind the team , this can only be done with a huge improvement on the field . On that he noted that it was clear we needed “budget parity” . Again paying the rate can only be seen as good news . On Smith and the funding of the Mathie appointment , in a five year plan, it’s called start up costs . Maybe brought forward a bit due to the Hopkin fiasco and the blow back from that . All in all this is a spectacular appointment for “poor wee Ayr” . It’s a clue to the direction of travel , Mathie ain’t coming here to bury a very decent CV in mediocrity . He plans to win . Smith plans to win . Music to the ears for most ! Mathie also mentioned his immediate priority is “the fast approaching transfer window” , I’m fairly sure he knows what he’s doing in this regard ! Looks like Duffy will have all the support he needs to plug those gaps in the team . So Henry get your big boy boots on and join in for what should prove to be an exciting five months as the old ways of poor wee Ayr get laid to rest , ... then the fun really begins ...
  15. Bang on the money here . Im guessing we’re in year one of a five year plan . That’s generally how guys like Smith manage projects . There is a bigger picture . We just need to get to May and still be in the Championship . The window will be key , hopefully Mathie can guide us through the minefield that is the Christmas Window .
  16. Mathie at MD is a huge move in the right direction and surely proof that funding for new players is in place and ready to be used where there is player availability ? Along with the land purchases this is further proof of a bigger picture at Somerset . We’re not out the woods by any manner but the jigsaw pieces are slowly going in to place . Obviously the new manager is a critical addition , hopefully Mathie can help with that .
  17. Out injured at the moment , also still under contract until the summer . Perhaps he’s on the move ,which would be a huge blow to Ayr at this point . If he’s moving back to Dumfries maybe he’s on the QoS radar .
  18. I got mine on the Killie ticket portal ,pretty easy to use if I can manage it . Looks like about 500 sold for our end already . Might be a decent turnout from an Ayr point of view ...
  19. Did anyone get a club email about members only nights in the Hub or Cameron’s Bar as it is now known ?
  20. I remember one of Rose’s first games , coincidently it was down at Palmerston . Dobbie gave him the mother of schooling’s . Seems to have stood him in good stead as he’s now strutting his stuff in the English Championship .
  21. I know what you mean , the lad looks way out his depth at the moment . He’s got another year to go after this season . Maybe he’ll improve with time .
  22. Fridays team went well to a certain extent . I wouldn’t expect much change in selection other than Aero coming in for McAlister , if indeed he is over his illness . Hopefully we’ll give it ago like we did on Friday , no point in sitting in and watching Queens play . If we give it a go then I’d be optimistic of a positive result .. Three games to go until the window ...
