I mean, it kind of is. Article basically touches on it, but towns across Scotland are filled with Old Firm fans. It is not healthy for football in this country. The description of cartel capitalism is perfect.

Thanks for everyone’s thoughts. I’ve been reading all posts with interest. I have an interview arranged for the new job in a couple of weeks time. I’m not sure whether I’ll get it but I think I’ll keep looking at jobs in different industries going forward.

Considering taking quite a hefty pay cut (~40%) from a job I don’t enjoy to embark on a new career path. Obviously I’d be starting at the bottom again but longer term I might be able to work my way back up to a similar level. Is that ridiculous? Have you ever taken a pay cut? Would you take a pay cut? Any horror stories that should serve as a warning to me?

It was great to see our captain wearing a rainbow armband. It was extremely disappointing to hear a Stranraer fan shout a homophobic remark at a Stenhousemuir player.

I’ve been thinking recently that maybe a football club does have a natural decline, and there’s no doubt that Stranraer are on the decline and have been for decades (in terms of local interest). Maybe that’s okay as I got to enjoy some good times. I also read that the Lowland League would be the end of the club but I see no reason why it would have to be. I’ll celebrate a Stranraer goal against Drummore United just as happily as I would a goal against Stenhousemuir.

Sad to say it, but I said after the Elgin game that I was fairly confident we would finish bottom this season. It was clear that we were going to struggle this year. Team is too small and inexperienced. Hope I’m wrong.

Celtic just signed Bosun Lawal from Watford to play for their colts team this season. He is Irish. I thought the (supposed) point of this was to help develop players for the Scotland national team?

This might just be my Stranraer focus, but I have a feeling that Stranraer might have been in the lower league playoff more than any other team over the last 16 years. Does anyone know if that is right? I also feel like we might have the worst record in terms of attempts/getting promotion.
