  1. I wouldn’t even call that a rumour but that was made up by someone (may have been Chris Sutton) on BBC 5 Live. Graham was substituted but he was still at Ibrox at the end of the match and missed the first half of the women’s game because of it. He was sacked for losing back-to-back matches at home to the worst teams in the league (for many a year) having already fallen behind in-part due to the losing run you reference and publicly conceding the league title. I think most Thistle fans liked McCall, he was a solid appointment for us at the time and I think the right man for a rebuilding job on and off the field. He put a terrific squad together last season but struggled with it for large spells and was rightly sacked, probably should’ve been earlier in the season.
  2. Apart from the one Thistle supporter commenting on this thread who never did like McCall anyway, most criticisms Thistle fans have of him don’t come from that season. He’s a very decent appointment at that level IMO, although I say that knowing nothing about Clyde’s current squad and their abilities.
  3. Wouldn’t be sending any player to Clyde if they’re still bottom of the league and fully out of confidence come January. McCall will know Ji Stevenson of course, who we have on-loan there at present.
  4. It’s really no that deep. He’ll get his suspension for his action(s), and be back out on the field again, probably before Morton win their next league game.
  5. Yeah cause this is totally the same. Graham is an experienced guy and should know better than to react to abuse, although I think he’d probably still be in bemusement at the straight red (which presumably was his initial argument with the officials). If the thing that a few people have now said was what was said to him as he walked off then whoever said it at least deserved the offer of a square go in the car park. But I’m no sure the validity of that. The Rangers coach headbutted the Celtic manager through no provocation, and even he only got a 6 game ban. There’s obviously no comparison between these two incidents and Brian will be at Petershill Park in about an hour hopefully leading the ladies into a SF.
  6. More of a “haud me back” than a proper squaring up imo.
  7. Couldn’t see the Graham incident that much from the JHS. Was his gesture really that bad? I think players who get stick/abuse from fans are entitled to give a bit back. That said, could say, a player who gets as much opposition abuse as Graham does should know what he can and can’t do and it’s sheer stupidity that could cost us - someone from the bench (Mitchell?) appeared to then run after him, not sure what was going on there either.
  8. I was at the game so I didn’t hear it but apparently the reporter at Firhill claimed we went down to 10 men after Brian Graham had got a red card. This appears to be backed up by the BBC Sport Scotland match report initially stating we played the last 15 with a man less. Graham was a sub when he was sent off, so obviously 11 men remained on the pitch.
  9. Echo previous thoughts on it being an awful game of football, particularly second half, Morton typically made it a ‘battle’ and therefore we struggled to break them down at times. Alston’s goal was absolutely tremendous and we did deserve to win IMO, indeed Alston should probably have scored again and we did have a few half-chances in the first half too. Fitzpatrick MOTM for me, he ran himself into the ground the whole game, and Morton players were lining up to try and bring him down. Muirhead, a close second - been critical of him at times recently but really stepped up today and just about won everything in the air, we dealt with the late Morton onslaught very well. A scrappy game, as these ties against the relegation fodder of the league can be, thankfully we saw it out and got a good 3 points.
  10. Depending on fitness I’d bring McMillan right back in from the off, although Wasiri has definitely been better in the last couple matches. Apart from that expect it will remain as is from the Arbroath game.
  11. Got to say went into yesterday’s game with little confidence of us winning, and would certainly have taken a point beforehand. So the result and performance was especially pleasing, didn’t feel we had a bad player in the side and we really dominated Arbroath all over (reverse of our previous encounter). Aside from his goals, Fitzpatrick brought back the pace we had been missing from the last few weeks, McInroy in particular was excellent imo and credit to Williams who was solid at RB.
  12. Adeloye has a knock and will miss tomorrow, Fitzpatrick back for this one, McMillan will still miss out but should be back for Morton, Robinson and McGinley still out and Ngweyna ruled out for 3 months.
  13. Presume we’re playing one of the 3 CBs at RB, rather than a back 3. Suspect Ayr might put Chalmers on whoever it is.
  14. If it had not been for his performance against Arbroath, MacKenzie would come in at RB with no one really batting an eyelid. Disappointing to have so many out, Fitzpatrick I think will be again quite a big loss with the pace he usually brings to the side.
  15. McGinley, McMillan, Fitzpatrick and obviously Muirhead to miss tomorrow according to Doolan. Seems McGinley has picked up a knee injury, thankfully Fitzpatrick’s injury isn’t too bad and he could be back for next weekend.
  16. Great to see the tickets are doing well, and will be a record crowd. The Women (and Brian) have been doing fantastically well representing the club over the past few years. Find it strange any Thistle fan would actually be upset over this, find it even more strange that an Annan Athletic fan would be on here greetin’ about it, but there you go.
  17. You think one match will wreck the surface? What box exactly do you think they’re ticking here?
  18. Women’s Team to play their game against Accies at Firhill, a week on Sunday. Tickets free.
  19. Bit of a shame this on a Friday night, I’d fancy us to have taken a really good support of if it was on Saturday afternoon. Need to get back to form after today, a few changes for sure. Not sure what to expect from QP, they seem to have been quite poor ever since we beat them.
  20. Don’t think we were that bad in the first half, but felt like it was game over once United scored their second. I was a big fan of Kevin Holt when he was at Firhill, so no surprise he’s been solid for United and was really good today. Midfield once again our biggest issue IMO, a recurring lack of protecting the defence. The players in that position, are not bad footballers but they aren’t able to do that job in a way for example Docherty could. Muirhead getting an early booking is always a concern particularly if the game ends up frustrating and not going our way, probably gives Wasiri a chance to come in from the off next week now. Most people pre-season expected United to win the league and can’t see past that at the moment, would’ve always been content with Top 4 this season and I’d say that looks kind of our level based on the first quarter. That said obviously a 5-0 drubbing at home to anyone is disappointing.
  21. I’d imagine United have definitely sold out that stand before. Had they done it earlier in the week they may also have been given the end bit of the JHS. The club have to leave a bit of the old main stand empty (as they do if/when we “full capacity” the other two) because they sell the tickets as unallocated seating.
  22. According to the website, tickets are available for United fans right up until kick off (obviously if the stand has sold out that’d be different).
  23. I don’t think style of play comes into much, Dowds just wasn’t going to displace Graham (aside from goalscoring, his hold up play for was/is nowhere near as good) and any decent form he had for us came prior to Doolan’s arrival. Danny Mullen was rightly ahead of him in the pecking order for most of the 2nd half of last season, although neither were realistically displacing Graham. I actually like Anton but the reality is if it wasn’t for the fact he had a year left on his deal he’d have been released in June. Probably best to just ignore anything ‘Ark Sports’ has to say, on this matter or any other tbh.
  24. Probably would’ve taken a point before the game tbh, so not too disappointed with that.
