The team that glasgow uni were supposed to be playing craigmark have tweeted saying their game tomorrow was off. I’d Imagine the agreed terms of letting them use our stadium is we have dibs on it.

Personally I would always watch airdrie over anything but I know some who may take that standpoint. As someone else stated I was suggesting we then play you away when we were meant to be at home. Under normal circumstances totally you’re correct but I think Jim Duffy and players alike would be glad just to get a game played after 7 months of no football at all. 2 out of your first 3 games postponed is far from ideal we’re not even out of October yet.

Mental people moan about plastic pitches. Should switch the game to New Broomfield with no fans have to travel anyway etc. Can’t see Dumbarton v airdrie attracting many PPV customers on a Tuesday night in November with champions league on the TV anyway.

Totally agree I think we have a decent squad on par with thistle. we lack that bit of extra quality/ experience and it showed with graham along with spittal being a cut above what we have that’s where the game was lost for us imo.

Not overly disheartened by that today think we held our own in large spells . Barring the 10 minute spell before and the 10 minute spell after half time when we got battered . Agree with the point stevo1968 makes above generally our final ball is pretty poor which is worrying. Think McCann and McDonald’s crosses into the box are often suspect. Hard to criticise those two but I find they get found out a bit in games against “better” teams. Think spittal had the beating of McDonald every time today. Maybe it will come with more experience

Enjoyed the podcast . Surprised the last minute winner that Simon lynch scored there (08/09) wasnt mentioned . Think it relegated Clyde and ensured thistle couldn’t win the league . Big hint of offside too. Very pleasing

Ally Roy’s out injured for a while broken wrist I think.

I’m never confident of an airdrie win. Can even remember telling a gala fairydean fan not to bet on us the game we went to win 11-0 against them. Growing up in the early 2000’s any game against thistle was one with added edge so a shame to not get to this one. As for the game itself nothing to lose / nothing to fear going to an empty firhill. Thistle being favourites with id imagine a bigger budget and superior playing squad. However, I’d like to think we’ve got a chance of taking something from the game after a positive start last week. As for the team I’d go for the same as last Saturday. Think thistle will quickly find out this league is harder than they think if they didn’t know already....

Noticed this also last season. That’s our 4th win in a row against Peterhead and think he’s complained about every one [emoji23] genuinely don’t think the game for us was ever in doubt. Embarrassing stuff indeed.

Pleasantly surprised today thought we played quite well and better than Tuesday night with all players chipping in and putting in a shift. Think there’s more to come but next Saturday will be a much tougher test. Have to mention dale carrick think he gets forgotten about at times but a very important player for us imo

Yeah thought it was a pretty even game, on another day we’d have scored a couple in the second half when we were dominating . Good sign that we could hold our own in the championship. Thought ray grant was the standout for you and as expected parry making good saves when called upon. And agreed , said before the game just glad to see a competitive game! all the best for the season.

Seems utterly ridiculous clubs were trying it for the first time last night in a competitive fixture having not tested out in friendlies. So credit to airdrie for being ahead of the game in that sense. As for the game itself I’m just glad to have competitive games back... it’s been a long 7 months. Mon the diamonds [emoji815]️

Even a young striker on loan from the premiership maybe worth a punt. With Ian Murray’s hibs connections and having got a player on loan from them the past few seasons. I noticed Jamie Gullan is still there and not getting a look in really pretty sure he had a successful stint at raith.

I’d line up ... Currie McDonald Crighton dycey Mccann McKay Sabatini Robert Carrick Oreilly Gallagher Think the defence will take care of itself only Falkirk conceded less than us last season . Hutton and currie both more than capable at this level. Crighton and fordyce are two of the better cbs in the league. Think Sabatini sitting next to McKay is probably an upgrade on wedderburn/ Miller . Going forward is where I have concern. Think we’ve seen glimpses of oreilly and Robert taking people on in the friendlies so hopefully they can chip in with goals provide service for the strikers. Think carrick would be good in the number 10 role linking up play and chipping in with goals . The main problem I see is who plays the traditional number 9 role and scores the goals we need. I rate Gallagher and think there could be a player in Roy but for a successful season we need 20 odd goals out of one of them unless we bring someone else in. The 5 sub rule is interesting as we can chop and change as the game progresses and disrupt other teams. As I’ve mentioned I’d take 4th place if offered now. I think it’s obvious the league will be harder than last year and partick and Falkirk will be favourites with much bigger budgets than us. I’d like to think we could keep up with them but A playoff place has to be the minimum requirement once again. Couldn’t really care less about cup competitions but would be good to go into the Peterhead game with a bit of momentum.

A tough watch tonight as been mentioned. Hard to tell what our best 11 is and hard to see where the goals will come from. Hopefully Murray has an idea what it is and we see it against Cowdenbeath. Still think we are maybe a striker short but will keep the faith.

Agreed . Allan Russell a prime example never really kicked a ball anywhere with poor stats to match. Pretty sure we were warned he’d be hopeless. However, he turned out to be one of the most complete goal scoring forwards - in my time supporting airdrie anyway .

Wouldn’t read anything in to it anyway . We could be getting a Gary mackay Steven or a danny bo both came from EPL youth systems [emoji23] As far the result a bit more encouraging and good to see ally Roy get another goal. Should get a chance in the starting 11 of the cup games imo
