You'd think supporters of a team who've just equalled their best league finish this century and who might be picking up their third Scottish Cup in 119 years might have better things to do than try to wind up fans of a team founded 28 years after theirs, who, despite only winning 1 trophy in the last 30 years, have won the same number of league titles, (currently) twice as many Scottish Cups, twice as many Scottish League Cups, 2 more European trophies, more League and Cup doubles, more cup doubles and despite being absolutely shite for most of the last 30 years have managed to avoid being relegated.
That's the badger. You can't go living on those past glories forever.

Hugh Shaw's "Famous Five" team began to falter in the 1953/54 season.
The season after Her Majesty's coronation.
68 seasons ago.
The opiate ingesters have finished 2nd twice since: in consecutive mid-70s seasons under Eddie Turnbull. In the second of those campaigns, they made the League Cup final and lost 6-3 to Celtic.
This is the eighth time they've finished 3rd since 1953. In one of those seasons - 72/73, under Turnbull - they won the League Cup. In another - 00/01, under Alec McLeish - they reached the Scottish Cup final. In two other 3rd-placed seasons (94/95 and 04/05) they made the SC semi finals.
Eight of their sixteen cup final appearances in the last 70 years have been in seasons when they've finished outwith the top six.
They won the SC and lost the LC final in 2016, when they finished 3rd in the second tier.
By most measures, 3rd place in the League, a SC final and a LC semi would represent their best trophyless season for a while. Probably since 52/53, when they were denied a hat-trick of League titles on goal average by a late Harland & Wolff Works XI equaliser at Palmerston on the last day of the season.
It's hard to see how the average banana flats spoonburner could fail to see this as a successful season. However, we are discussing a fanbase amongst whom "Yes" had a majority for several hours in a Miggs.Net "Should Jack Ross Be Sacked?" poll after the St.Johnstone LC semi defeat only four months ago, so, as a man who preferred coke to smack once sang, you never can tell.
At least yer no bothered, eh.
I love how long you must have spent putting that together. Enjoy the rest of the season mate.

Nobody said he has no limitations. Its a bit strange though to call him out as a limited player and not much end product when he's literally been one of the most productive players in the league this season.
The state of this
Do assists (or goals, for that matter) not count if they're not evenly spread over the season?
When you score as few goals as Aberdeen the spread does become relevent, yes.

You're managing to make having a 'succesful' season sound like something really bitter.
Just enjoy it mate, it's only fitba. One day good, next day bad.
I support Hibs mate - you've got those days way too balanced.

I think I can say with some degree of confidence that I speak for all of Scotland, apart from the Rangers lot and @MJC, when I say get fucking intae them Aberdeen.

Thats fair, but there is a daft narrative on your thread that some of our players are limited - i.e. Boyle is apparently just fast.
I know fans can be one eyed, but there are precious few of your guys on the Dons thread willing to say what you have above. There is something about Hibs that triggers them.
And you can bet your arse they'd be all over the Hibs thread with their daft wee smilies etc. if the roles were reversed. Just look at the state of them on the Hibs threads when we lost e.g. Ross County. But, County hammered them and we're 3rd by a length, without sacking our manager no less.

It was quite nice to hear Jack Ross on Sportsound after the match saying that he aspires to be as good as Derek McInnes.

Aberdeen fans taking this well;
'worst Aberdeen team in decades'
'Boyle has limited technical ability the only thing he's got in his locker is pace, McGinn(Paul) is rotten, Porteous a liability, Doig overated, Ross no better a manager than McInnes, Doidge a haddy, etc etc.......
A cup final, 6 points clear and an 11 goal gap make it all the more delicious.
Don't forget Ross still has a job. I seem to recall debating with some Don around Chrismstas about the success of our respective managers and saying let's see what the end of the season brings. Superb.

Agreed I posted with a beer or two so to explain my post - basically no Hibs fans have been trumpeting that "we are going to win this thing".................given our SC record perhaps unsurprising?
More reasonable assessment would be that all of the 4 semi finalists were in with a great shout ahead of this weekend.
Fans of "another club" appear to think they are nailed on to win it even before they have played a semi today.
I'm gleefully awaiting that gas being put at a peep, with the added bonus of the Hearts nightmare scenario final becoming reality.

Exactly. If you're not on top of your clubs social media output, and crucially, how it's received on P and B, then the stench of failure absolutely repulses me.

I've always admired how the Jambos ploughed money into their club after Romanov in a bid to ensure something like that can't happen again. Pretty impressive amounts of dough involved.

And well played saints. Belter of a turnaround snatching that back at the death.

Absolutely not. Helps illustrate how you've progressed.
I'm wondering if there are many teams in this league who have won just the single top tier honour, or less, in 30 years? Can't be many, so one for the statos out there. You might even get a few from the seasides if that takes your fancy.
