  1. Posted this on FitbaNorth, Brora had the opportunity and squad to get promoted in 2014 or 2015 against Montrose, with the squad they had at the time could have easily got up to at least L1 but during the final play off game they proceeded to field a team including youngsters who had barely made an appearance for the club (and never appeared again) which coincided with the chairman saying they didnt want to go up due to the costs involved, which at the time they would have been guaranteed a minimum of circa £70k for finishing bottom of L2.

I find it laughable that they are now all for this new league, where going by this thread they would be getting circa £40k, would love them to finish outside the top 2 next season in the HL. Shambles!!!!

  2. Think its a shocking idea and format, not sure how the voting system works but can see L2 teams voting for this as im sure they will be getting more 'guaranteed' money than the current parachute payment if they dropped into this new league as opposed to the HL or LL.

LL teams I assume also would vote for this as geographically the majority of games will still be close and also they currently play against the B teams anyway and again are likely to receive more guaranteed money by playing in the new league.

The outlier is the HL who outwith Brechin this will be a non-starter, unless of course the guaranteed money was attractive enough, again without having the knowledge not sure SFA can make the decision for them if they voted against.

Would there be an automatic promotion for L3/Conference league winner or would there still be a play-off between team 42?

  3. Haven't been to Cove since the HL days, the ground is looking somewhat more like a stadium now with the new stands, looking good.

Strange one re. McAllister could understand McIntyre not being happy if he had missed a game but the player himself said he re-arranged his flights so he wouldn't miss the game,  so he was transfer listed because he was going to miss 2 training sessions?! All a bit strange, wont do McIntyre any favour's if he is treating fans favourites like that incuding the gk if he does indeed not start him, not a good start to his reign where it appears he has been unpopular since being announced.

  4. A substantial five figure fee, come on the people in the know how much is it?

That along with his wages, all in gamble for Brechin to get back in the SPFL for a 35/36yr old?

Not slating it, his record speaks for itself, just given the supposed financial outlay at his age its a huge risk.

  5. In theory Elgin should essentially be a HL select team and be able to pick all the top players from that league supplemented by 1-2 players from further a field if required and what a very good team they would have if this was the case

As others have alluded to the inflated wages on offer & lack of desire to travel from the majority of  these players has prevented this from ever fully happening, which personally think is a shame, hopefully may change one day.

I dont know Gavin Price at all and he has done a decent job at Elgin but being Perth based cant be easy for training etc, especially the last couple of years with Covid restrictions.

  6. As an outsider looking in not a fan at all of the B/Colts team in the LL but also noticing a lot of comments saying there are a few teams who don't deserve to be in the LL due to being fairly new clubs or small fan base etc from fans of clubs in the EOSL and WOSL, all of the big junior clubs have had plenty of opportunities to apply to join the LL over the years if they wanted but opted to remain in juniors.

Now there is a pyramid they seem to think they have god given right to play in the LL above these other clubs, I personally think there should be more promotion/relegation to/from LL as there should in the HL but I don't blame the teams for voting against this when they have been and are continued to be looked down upon by ex junior clubs.

  7. Poor from the LL teams unfortunately I have no doubt the HL teams would also do the same thing if they have a vote on the same issue, saving grace for HL at the moment is that there is not many teams currently licensed in tiers below but this will change in next couple of years.

As alluded to before the HL & LL are in no position now to be arguing for automatic promotion to L2 if they are now acting like the SPFL operating a closed shop.

  8. Think its good moves for both of them and ICT, assume they are both based in Inverness, we have a lot of young players the experience and quality of both should hopefully help them.

Said on the ICT page, would have taken Vigurs in a heartbeat but heard he's off to Cove, others saying Brora but cant see that happening if what I have been told re. Cove deal is  true.

  9. If McKay finds anywhere near his previous level off form then it can only be a good thing for us, Gardyne will split opinion but on form again will provide a real threat for us in the Championship.

Draper not really bothered about was great for us but seems to have been hampered by persistent injuries, personally would have loved Vigurs back but heard he is off to Cove be  a great signing for League 1.

  10. Out of the 3 teams Kelty have by far the strongest squad in terms of size & depth, starting 11 Brora are very strong but I worry about what they have in reserve. Brechin appear to be a mixed bag depending on who is fit.

Cold, wet & windy forecast tonight so should favour Brora as they are used to playing in those conditions, Dudgeon Park is one of those grounds that is always windy every time I have been.

I certainly wouldn't write Brechin off, having said that fancy Kelty to get promoted, looking at their squad don't think they have a player under 25 so their experience should get them through both ties.

Compairing the three side's who do you favour to win the final ?

Only team ive seen is Brora in the Hearts cup game.

Must admit haven't seen Kelty or Brechin, going by squad on paper Kelty have the strongest squad of the 3 teams, Brora have a very strong starting 11 but 2 games in 5 days  after such a long lay off will be tough and squad depth will be important.

Winner of HL v LL will go up in my opinion and think that will be Kelty.

  12. Surely after the last year we have had people can't be wanting EF punished for not playing in this game, if the SPFL/JRG or whoever it was did actually say the game could go ahead that is absolute madness and just shows how much they make up the rules how they see fit.

Fair play to EF 100% the correct decision, all very valid points made by the manager as to why they decided not to play, not worth the risk for a game of football no matter how small that risk was/is.

  13. I have similar thoughts SPFL trying to delay the Brora v Kelty ties to force them to play Sat/Tues as opposed to Saturday/Saturday, which would help out club 42, a shorter recovery time for the HL/LL winner would certainly help Club 42, 2 potentially 4 games in the space of 7 to 10 days would be hard going after not having played in so long especially for Kelty.

  14. As has been stated already the ties under SFA control Brora v Kelty have been confirmed BUT the SPFL controlled ties e.g club 42 v HL/LL will be decided at tomorrow’s (Mon 19th) meeting, so it is still very much unknown if it will go ahead until after that meeting.

What way that will go who knows, the SPFL have proved they are a law unto themselves, if it is a no I would imagine they have done their due diligence for any potential legal claims from Brora/Kelty.
