  1. Hellenic Lge local derby today Shortwood v Stonehouse (Nailsworth nr Stroud) clubs 6 miles apart. £6 with online prog. 1-0 then 'Wood see pen saved. 1-1 ft. Stonehouse better 2nd half, not many clear chances at both ends. Decent stuff albeit up in the air quite a bit, fair result in the end. Att guess 150+
  2. Should be a ruling that if your home park isnt available, either change the date OR is switched to the away clubs' ground. This isnt Mickey Mouse Football.
  3. Just build the stand for everyone's benefit then, unless you have plans for your own ground, one day ? Guess thats a stock answer to every question: we don't own it, so why bother. You could always install temporary seating/terracing that you can always move elsewhere.
  4. Loved the luncarty photos and the original idea of having two goalmouths at one end, gives the sub gk some interest in the game I guess. Hope the ultra's didn't delay any trains !
  5. Avonmouth F.C make their Glos County Lge debut v Sharpness (nr Gloucester) Decent set up, already have lights installed, not a bad clubhouse. I arrived dead on k.o due to my exhaust falling off, but an enjoyable game which looked destined for 1-1 until two late goals sealed the win in front of 142 (£2) Inc prog until they run out. ft 3-1 for last season's Bristol & Suburban Lge champions.
  6. Seems that modern life is catching up in Scotland, maybe it's the lack of youngsters who aren't/ don't want to commit to playing. A shame that some big names are folding, always thought that both Wales and Scotland were immune, their kids always looked interested and leagues stayed strong.
  7. Any reason for Perthshire's collapse ? players missing, red cards etc - saw them a few times last season and looked a decent side. Guess there's no surprises until teams find their form.
  8. Western LGE Div 1 at Bristol Road : Portishead (nr Clevedon & Weston) v Odd Down (Bath) £6 prog £1 after wasting a first half hatful of chances, the young hosts turned on the style with some excellent football and good goals.Looked like they're enjoying playing, nice to see, while the visitors looked totally disjointed. Portishead 6-0 att 107.
  9. Thought id chuck this in, am now up in Inverness Oct 7-14 which i didnt realise was international week - any idea where i might find midweek games ? Wrong wk for reserves as well, ruining my planning !
  10. Hopefully this isnt the case, the preliminary work should have revealed any problems. Is the ground built on any ex coal mines or landfill sights etc ? Good luck KRR
  11. Looks like some cracking games going by the results, and goals galore across the West. Wonder what the Pollok crowd was ? as it's usually a big one - over 1200 when I last went there for a Talbot game. Welcome back football Be keeping up with the news until I come back.
  12. Just to add that you can't see much from the bottom row of seats - nice barrier in your eyeline. Maybe a long terrace with seats above, would have been better. As per programmes, IF you find it loss making, just don't print so many Biggest joke v Kelty was 2 or 3 youngsters stood on far side, causing no harm - in went the militia to earn their money, pathetic. Is the stadium planner on the dole yet ?
  13. Should have done one of today's tournaments - after just 2 overs with the ball staying low/ bouncing round your chest - game abandoned for a dangerous wicket. Didnt they know that ? Strange one, roll on October.
  14. My week ends at West Scotland C.C for the 100th Rowan Cup Final : Prestwick (batting) v GHKelvinside. Late flight so should get a full day.
  15. Back at Central for Viaplay : Cowden v Montrose. Not a classic but the 2nd half was better.Simple for 01 cross, knock down, finish. 11 def pen. Both created chances, but gave the ball away far too often. Expected a bit more from the visitors, 1-1 fair 4-5 on pens.Decent pint in the Kirk and pie n bovril was ok.Excellent week again, up in Inverness in October.
  16. Just back on the bus to Glasgow, the 'Battle of Kilsyth' well explained, half decent game with both sides having chances. As I was down the far end, I'm guessing no doubt over the penalty ? Athletic should have been given at least one from where I was stood, and agree the no.7 terrorised the full back all night.Just bring him down and see how he reacts Good bit of needle between both clubs, nice to see.
  17. Thought that Biabi and Daramola later, tore them to shreds and could have got more. Unlucky 1st goal looked offside, lack of communication and a leader needed at the back. Both sides good going forward, well done to the Kelty fans who turned up.
  18. Part 1 at Clydesdale C.C for Sth Asian Academy 317 all out with Scotland under 19's on 191/5 on my departure. Some good players on show and cider £3,80 - quick dash to Meadowbank (2nd visit) for Edinburgh 3 Kelty 5 att 426. Good stuff from the visitors who were 30 down late in 1st half.Daramola and then Biabi caused havoc for the home defence. Put some terrace on the far side or something.
  19. Back at Old Quarry Road for interesting pre-season game : Ardeer 4 Shortlees 5 probs around 100 att . The ammies played some good stuff with the home defence all over the shop. Some well worked goals, a cruel deflection , and an own goal by Ardeer I think. Think tired legs played a part (I didn't see them come on) but enjoyable stuff at least.
  20. Didnt feel great but off to Moor Road for Lanark 1 Lesmahagow 4 two poor defensive goals in my ex full back opinion ! then some momentum 12 before conceding again. Enjoyable game, the Gow more threatening going forward, deserving the win.
  21. Day 2 sees me at Castle Road for Scottish Cricket Cup semi final : Tunnocks Uddingston 204 then Grange C.C managed to throw it away somehow, ending up 199 all out with one ball left. Magners at £4 so that was ok.
  22. All about getting some miles in the legs eh, nothing to be gained from all those games. Makes my playing days look a glorious success !
  23. Trip begins at NDP for tenants v landlords, both after last season's struggles. Clyde did ok first half, decent through ball well finished by Scullion for 1-0 The Accies were more lively the 2nd half, forcing many corners but their final ball ended most attacks. Two late goals sealed the win, well deserved overall. They could be useful at their level, whilst Clyde really need at least 4 or 5 more in that side (only 2 subs and a gk) to avoid another struggle.
