  1. Almost 20 pages ago I posed this... no answer yet. Anything now that would convince an ‘on the fence’ west junior team?
  2. Yeah I appreciate the conferences could be seen as a downside, but would only be for one season. If they did end up in a league with all the teams you listed (which would be very very unlikely) it would only be for one season not a number of years with reduced revenue. The East did conferences for their first season and even the most sceptical would say it was a massive success. Given that it would only be for one season you would play in a conference - would you say that playing in a conference for one season would be a reasonable sacrifice to allow your team the opportunity if they desired (not today or tomorrow) but any time in the future to start progressing up the pyramid, joining a league which has a fixture list from the start of the season, a youth league which can be joined if desired, no more fines for disciplinary, no more paying for friendly permits and no more defined date that friendlies can commence from... amongst many other things? Thank you for your reply and I’m not on either side of the fence - just interested in the changing landscape of Scottish Football. To me looking in if all west teams joined the LL proposals they would keep everything they love and lose everything they hate, with an exception of the junior cup and one season of conferences.
  3. Serious question: without mentioning protecting the grade or history of the level, can someone please tell me the benefits and reasoning for wanting to stay junior in the west under whatever banner it’s presented, or joining the LL/EoS formed WoS? I cannot see how any of the good elements of junior football aside from the prestige of the junior cup can be lost by moving across.
  4. Out of interest, if you weren’t happy with the official from Saturday - was there one of your previous 28 referees from this season you would have deemed more suitable and preferred?!
  5. Just catching up... Beenzon-Toste is a parody account, right?
  6. Two and a half hours driving and 116 miles! But don’t let Brechin hear that...
  7. It’s how far for their current players. As has already be alluded to it would likely be a massive turnover if they were to drop down a league and geographically where Brechin is the HFL makes sense, especially if in the next few years we see some of the weaker HFL teams get relegated and replaced with the likes of Banks O’Dee, Lochee etc. Also, Cove went two seasons with Paul McManus travelling from Fife to play for Cove, Martin Scott travelling up for a year and Nairn having countless Central belt players in the glory days travelling to play including David Hannah, Callum Antell and Kyle Wilkie. Couple that with the fact Brechin would be the team in the Tayside area playing at the highest level they could get the best from that area, and guys from Aberdeen - many of who already travel to Buckie, Fraserburgh and Banff to play which are all the best part of an hour from Aberdeen. Basically in that rambling post... the line doesn’t need moved.
  8. Haha, I knew I would pick the wrong team as an example - but let that not detract from the point. There are people here who have gone from saying they don’t want to be in the pyramid to now moaning that other teams need to be moved to another level. I see no requirement for SoS to be moved to a lower tier. I am almost certain it’s not as strong as EoS or a WoS but it doesn’t impact the teams who join the WoS or EoS in the slightest. Sorry for upsetting any bankies... the example was arbitrary!
  9. Got to laugh at this thread sometimes! Less than a month ago we had supporters of west juniors unhappy about the prospect as they had a great setup and now we have the same people upset that SoS would be at the same tier as EoS and a potential WoS. Why?! The argument is that the SoS isn’t as strong and they are all ‘rural pub teams’. So why is that an issue? You are a supporter of a club like Clydebank [picked as the loudest supporter of pyramid in the west and nothing else]. To get promoted you need to beat the winner of EoS and winner of SoS in a three way play-off like the EoS play off of 18/19. Why would it bother you that one game is against a team that you consider so weak?! That’s sure a bonus! It means you have to win your league and win a one off game plus a game against a team you already labelled ‘a pub team’. The same goes for the perceived strength of the highland league and it being on par with this all encompassing south of the Tay LL. As long as the winners of the LL and HFL are relatively competitive for the opportunity to then be competitive against club 42 then the pyramid works!
