  1. Might have been the same guy I saw joining the roundabout at the Craigs far too fast, then started blaring his horn because he had to slow down for the sensible drivers who wouldn't have seen him coming when they joined the roundabout. Frigging maniac.
  2. He did reach the semis, beaten by Wilhelm Bungert IIRC. Might have been the following year when the open era started, partly as a realistic response to the Wimbledon boycott.
  3. Couldn't think of anyone other than those mentioned by specsaver and myself. On reflection, thought it might have been Jeremy Bates. John Lloyd did have a fairly long career right enough, so fair play to him. Thanks for giving me a sleepless night
  4. Murray, Henman, Ruzedski, Mottram, Mark Cox, Roger Taylor are 6 I think from memory of their singles careers at the time (I am that old). Don't think the Lloyds would have had enough singles wins, though John in particular had a good doubles record. Can't think of a 7th atm. Hopefully come to me in my sleep!
  5. Well done to GB's women's team, beating France on clay to qualify for the finals in Seville later this year. Katie Boulter was ragdolled in the first rubber yesterday, but came back today and won convincingly. Emma Raducanu was utter class in both her rubbers. Real signs that she has a good chance of fulfilling her potential if she can get a good run without injuries.
  6. As the title of the thread suggests, this may well come down to which teams have the bottle for the fight. If Annan get even closer to the teams above, I fancy them and ourselves to have the best chance of escaping, mainly because of the managers and the attitude both teams have shown last season and this. They seem to never give up. I worry a bit for Queens, based on what their fans are saying. If the players aren't really playing for Bartley, they could be found wanting when it matters most. Not sure about Kelty. Defeat next week at Annan, on top of their current bad run, could be enough to affect their run in. Having said all that, I've felt for a while that 1 bad week for Annan, where they lose and the others win would leave them with too much to do. Think it'll come down to a point or so here and there at the end of the day.
  7. Well done to Katie Boulter on winning her first WTA 500 event. She has been gradually improving her ranking, and now sits in the top 30. Saw bits of her matches, and she pretty much blew some good players away. Good luck to her going forward.
  8. Think the loan player(s) coming in depended on the parent club getting players in before the loans were released. Darren said something about a domino situation. I took that to mean the loan(s) were agreed, but could fall through if circumstances worked against us. Putting 2 & 2 together, I wonder if the players coming in on trial might be in case the loans fall through.
  9. Yeah, noisiest b*****ds in the world. We know you're there, we can fucking see you, ya big worthless tossers.
  10. Into the final now. They seem to have generally got to about the quarter final or last 16 stage in the bigger tournaments this year, so good to see them getting further this time.
  11. We really were crap in the league last season right enough. Only won it by a few points.
  12. I would like to see some cover for Cammy Clark again. Can't see we've got anyone decent if he gets injured/suspended.
  13. I remember it from his post match interview with SATV after the last game. Am sure he said the players had 6 weeks before they were back at it on 15th June.
  14. Pretty sure the manager said 15th June for pre season.
  15. Moore, Dunsmore and Law signed for next season according to the Observer. Gives us a squad of 17 at the moment. Would imagine we'll be looking to add another 3 or 4 including loans.
  16. Hope you're right WC. Would be sorry to see a young goalie at the start of his career being released.
  17. Haven't read about Moore, Dunsmore, Callum Law or Will Greenhorn, but their existing contracts may cover them for next season. Callum Law maybe going to be released now Weir has signed?
  18. Succinctly put WC. The 5 games in 2 weeks is tricky for us, so pleased to have won the first 2. Blood and snotters needed to get us over the finishing line. This group of players seems to have a shitload of both.
  19. As it stands we need 11 points to be certain of winning the title. That assumes Dumbarton win all their games and overcome an 18 goal deficit. Realistically, I think 6 points would probably do us. Sons would need to win 5 of their remaining games to pip us. As WC says though, one game at a time. Won't relax until it's (hopefully) done and dusted.
  20. Raining constantly today and forecast is for more of the same. Would hate for us to have to fit in another postponed match into our schedule, but has to be a major doubt about this going ahead.
  21. This. Was a bit concerned Sons might pull away from us over this run of games. Think we did alright though, got 1 win and 3 draws out of the 4games after being fairly idle through postponements. I think Tuesday is a big game for you. Good teams go through relatively bad spells, with a terrible result (like yours yesterday) either leading to a recovery in form in the next game, or a continuation of poor form. Win the game and you're 5 points ahead. I know whose shoes I'd rather be in if that happens.
  22. Very good post. What makes it even more enjoyable(?) in a way is neither team is blowing the opposition away. Seems to be victories by 1 goal most weeks, which says a lot about the character of both teams, but gives hope to both that the other team will falter. Come the end of the season, I hope both teams manage to get promoted.
  23. After tomorrow's game, the rescheduled matches are on 7th and 21st March. We still have to fit in our postponed game from Saturday against Elgin, and I think the SFA ask for these matches to be played before the end of March. Still a tough schedule, but thankfully not as brutal as 4 Tuesdays in a row.
  24. £60 to get both ears microsuctioned to clear wax. I can afford it, but I'm sure many people would baulk at paying this. Locally, I can't get my ears syringed by the NHS because they consider there's a danger of damage to the eardrum using this method.
  25. Other than Forfar, Annan and Elgin, that's not a million miles away from where we are atm. A wee bit surprising. I think most folk felt there weren't any stand out teams before the season started, and there wouldn't be much between the teams. No idea whether it'll end up that way by the end of the season though.
