  1. Can the ball still hit the stanchion in these new fangled goals?
  2. I fancy them to get to the final, I think they could take care of the other championship teams and then it’s a lottery against the Premier League side. They’ve currently got all the momentum so you never know. There’s something about them, quite similar in terms of squad size and raw ability to the Livingston side that went up through the playoffs in 2018. Very different styles of football, but psychologically quite similar.
  3. You’re choosing to make it so. . Was a pretty simple and correct statement, unsure why you took such offence to it. Won’t be “getting it right up me” at all, as per my second part of my post (which you ignored/clipped to suit you), I had zero surprise seeing the score come through. If you can keep your form going I expect you to get to the play off final - I rate you higher than Rovers, (though Thistle might be a test more so). Sorry to disappoint.
  4. Usually because home fans occupy the other 3 stands at East End, No such issue for you lads, despite your recent doubling of home fans. Just seems a bit strange to move the away support half way through a season when you aren’t using that stand. But that’s your prerogative. Should be a very interesting game. I fear we have hit some form just a little too late, and a draw would suit Airdrie very well today to cement a play off spot. Been impressed by them this season and last, said elsewhere there is a slight “Livi” feel about them and matching their run into the Premier League few seasons ago from League 1. More than a few correlations.
  5. Hmm I think the £100k and a smaller sell on will be what is realised. Get the feeling that the extension triggering was done so with a promise that summer time we will assist him in getting a move. Its time for him to move on and up.
  6. I have my doubts about them digging deep in terms of going into overspend. I do think they’d look at the increase in income and invest in a better squad, but nothing daft. The strategy will not change, and why would it? They’re here for the long haul, and if we were to go up, they’d argue with some merit that the current strategy is working. I think finishing 9th is unlikely. Similarly while a better chance of finishing 4th, I just think Airdrie have enough in them to pull out some surprise results in their run in to get there. For us to hot streak into 4th, and then win the 3 sets of playoff fixtures and go up, it would be the most incredible finish to a season, ever. It’s never been done to finish 4th and go up via the playoffs to the premier league. I don’t see this Dunfermline side being the first to do it.
  7. Just matching championship only stats, Kane has a better record. That said it’s skewed by the little (relative) time he has played at this level. Be interesting to do that same exercise based purely on Premiership games? Regardless, Kane is a huge upgrade on Wighton.
  8. 0-0 draw and several red cards for both sides would do me just fine tbh.
  9. Joe Joe super Joe, super Joey Chalmers was the chant this time last year. Football fans eh
  10. Sure you’re bang on and it was Trouten. The season we had Hippolyte, Louis Longridge and El Bakh II as our forward options. Shudder.
  11. By the way, before it gets misinterpreted, I’m not advocating for searches like that. Merely outlining that it’s the direction of travel if things don’t improve and authorities decide to make it a priority. Much rather we could go to a sporting event and not have (as parsforlife beautifully put it ) an intimate search performed on us.
  12. You might have missed the search bit before the metal detector and wand, the way folk are frisked here compared to back home would more than likely stop the glass bottle. I’m not saying that’s the complete solution for Scottish football but it’s part of a potential wider solution in time, because I just don’t see self policing and hands off approaches stopping these fuds continuing to behave as such. It’s sad.
  13. Been in the US for a while now, every person regardless of their age gets searched, have to walk through a metal detector barrier and then a wand search before they get into the stadium at Austin FC. Not sure if it’s similar experiences for Txrover in his part of the state. The point is, it CAN be done, if it really wants to be done. But there’s got to be a balance there. Unfortunately every single support of every club has an element of utter wee fuds who think it’s a good thing to bring banned and dangerous stuff into football grounds. And it’s getting worse, not better. Not sure entirely of the solution, but I think it won’t be long before clubs are made to act, and we can see netting going up in parts of the ground to stop things being thrown - or increased policing/stewarding being enforced by authorities.
  14. Chalmers to Hamilton Accies would be a decent move for both. Breen could be decent at this level but injuries hamper. I’d look to move on MoH. Wighton is fine but needs competition other than McCann and Jakubiak up top. If we could in any way get Kane longer term, that’s a promotion chasing signing there. With Wighton as his back up, that’s much more like it.
  15. Ah well shows you what I know about football I thought Raith would take United. just shows United have played a blinder with the ticket shenanigans - or indeed that Raiths board and social media team have just done in their own title challenge. lol.
  16. Hmmm nah. I’m calling bull on that buddy. Like you say if that indeed is the reason (police request) then the club would be quick enough to say so, and that’s that. Then would there not be a case to allocate any other stand instead? Harking back to 1996, Dunfermline were papped into the main stand while the shed went to United fans. That didn’t turn out well for you either. It is pulling a fast one no matter how it’s spun, and if it works, good on your club for doing what’s right for their fans and their team. If not however then it’s another reason to question those running your club. In my opinion both clubs come out of this poorly. Fans being shafted is the ultimate result, all because some tubes in charge of football clubs can’t behave as adults.
  17. United pulling a fast one over tickets, but I would say it looks like the Rovers fans have only got their board and social media team to blame for that. They’ve clearly been so crass and deliberate to get right under Uniteds skin. It’s very petty of United, but then as many on here have already said, that’s their prerogative. Was listening to Shaughan on the terrace podcast talk about it and he made a good point about the Rovers statement on it all. It wasn’t a conciliatory “hope to sort out” message more of a “these lot are at it and get it up them”. Which hasn’t helped any case they would have wanted to push to get more tickets. The public tit for tat that’s followed has been lacking in class from both clubs leaderships, but it does make for a tantalising watch for the neutral. Dare I say in the cold light of day, maybe the Rovers board are more than happy adding to a “siege mentality” with this ploy? Add some more pressure to the United team with a more partisan but edgy crowd? If it backfires though, would expect some Rovers fans to be pretty quick to turn on them for causing them to miss a massive fixture. On the whole, I disagree completely with clubs charging more for some games than others in the same competition, cutting and shifting away fan allocation, and any ridiculous attempted stunts such as the one by United earlier in the season of trying to charge £27 because it was the “allocated amount for the stand given to away support” (remember that one before they switched it back to the shed for a £2 discount?). Aye as some say - during Covid clubs giving it the “aw we need you, all fans are lifeblood” yet 4 years later almost every club in this league have at some point ignored that mantra for competitive or cash grabbing aims. As for the game, Rovers to edge it. Cant see past them as Uniteds team are a bloody shambles of a lot right now.
  18. So his pre contract signing club has been confirmed as Raith then?
  19. Aye, strange stuff. The one that I really don’t understand was them not starting Grimshaw. Every time he played against us he nullified Edwards and could be a typically top end championship player that gets those around him playing better. Seeing him on the bench when the teams came out made me think it might just be our night.
  20. One of the best things about watching it on Paramount plus here in the US, is they cut off all the pre game and half time pish. Tremendous stuff
  21. It’s always the fans who suffer when those entrusted to run our clubs are negligent.
