  1. I’m not too sure. I would say he is better than last year with his touch and passing. Look at the Forfar away game where he created and scored for both our goals. Look at the highlights of the Montrose game, he is the only forward holding it up and laying it back to his teammates. The Watt chance highlights this. From my point of view his touch and reactions are on point. One of the issues he has is that he does too much running perhaps outside the box for others including brought fully back for all defensive corners. Playing with Smithy last year helped as he was given the ball when he made the runs. Wallace doesn’t give him the ball on time and tonks then has to check and run again and again. You will see this in most games. Don’t get me wrong Wallace is a really good player but, he does need to shift it earlier, to all the team not just Tonks. The area where the team does need rest is the midfield. This is where we are struggling just now with guys being tired and it is restricting the team and costing points. They need to shift the ball quicker and put it in better areas to allow forwards to run onto. Balls fired at head height once the run has been made are no use to anyone. For me this is the area of the team that needs help. I like our midfield, I just think they need help and a bit of a break. If Lewis Hunter could up his levels and apply pressure to the starting XI that would be a start. Also Murdoch could be used in there as an option when the manager chooses bringing Watson to right back. All this could be an option for Darren when Dunlop makes it back from injury. Not seen enough of Baker just yet but, I am sure he will be fine once he gets further minutes under his belt.
  2. The problem is not with the front line. Dowds and Wallace have the potential to be the best partnership in the league. The main issue here is the midfield. They need to move the ball quicker to the front line and support earlier. This is obvious, can no one else see it?
  3. Dowds was East Fife’s best player in the first half by some distance. He then gets moved to left wing in the second half, where he has less opportunity to impact the game? Anton is the most dangerous player when the game enters its final 20 min period and he was taken off. Was he injured? Wallace was poor today and not fit. He needs to pass the ball quicker. He moans too much to his teammates even when he causes the mistake or error. Wallace was moaning yesterday about the gaps between forwards and midfield players. He did have a point with this as the midfield did not support the front 2, especially in the first half. They did not push up and support in the first half. Midfield were poor and there were a number of mistakes and misplaced passes. Too many long balls. Balls need to be played wide and to feet a lot quicker. Montrose did this better than us. Agnew needs to mix up his corners. He chips the ball in and this is easy meat to defenders. Play the ball in at head height and with pace. If Agnew cannot do this then someone else needs to take the corners. This is becoming embarrassing. Hunter needs to step up and apply pressure to Davidson and Agnew. And push them for a first team Jersey. They are in a comfort zone and currently have no competition for their place. Wide players need to push their counterpart back up the park. Dunsmore did this to a certain degree in the second half. Church did not and is too passive and does neither attack or defend. Slattery needs to return, Church has now been given ample opportunities and has not taken them, so far. Another mistake at the back cost us a goal and the game. Sometimes the defence needs to be more brutal and empty the ball rather than trying to pass it out (we are not Man City). Long was decent yesterday and kept us in the game for long periods. The manager has been altering the formation of the team during the game on numerous occasions over the past few games. Nothing wrong with this but, when this is constant it becomes worrying and players become confused. Darren Young success in the past has been built on his team dictating the style and not having to react or change to the other teams. We were 1-0 down yesterday and went backwards in the second half. Montrose looked a lot sharper? Does anyone know if East Fife managed to train properly over the festive period or were numbers reduced like last years xmas period? Not great if this is the case?
  4. Good result Saturday Raith_Raver your team played very well. You need to get over yourself now though and move on. It’s a long season to get through and I am not sure that Rovers have either the bottle or know how to get out of this league. Time for your team to switch on and deliver. You have been underachieving for far too long with a bigger budget, full time players and large support. Your team and management have let the fans down for far to long and you have been the joke of Scottish football. Time to toughen up, deliver and do what you say you are going to do. You have been poor for far too long.
  5. Raith_Raver is lost again and on the wrong forum. Surprised he made it back from Methil on Saturday. Some boy
  6. Well said KK. Yes Murdoch’s best position is centre midfield. Although he has done a decent job at RB he is not overly comfortable moving out with the ball and starting play and attacks. Janny is much better at the RB role and links well with Dunsmore. Over the last few years the East Fife midfield have done a very decent job, they do however lack that ‘grinder’ type player which Murdoch provides. Also, his presence would provide cover and allow midfield players a break from time to time. Sometimes the midfield appears soft when they are not fully on their game and tired as we rely on them to often without giving them a break. DY tried Murdoch as CM v Cowdenbeath early on in the season. It didn’t work but, this was because he was in beside Hunter and they are too similar type players. Murdoch, Agnew and Davidson as a centre midfield 3 would work, providing legs and strength to allow Agnew to play. One further point to make - King Kebabs for Director of football, he is very tactically aware and calls it before most people see it. Baller#
