  1. I don't think we've seen anything like enough from Shanley yet to suggest he's going to be a goalscoring deputy for MacIvor so would also prioritise a striker. That's not writing him off, we just haven't seen it. If injuries meant we were going into games with Oliver up front then that's asking for trouble. We also need an experienced keeper in my view so would be prioritising those 2 positions and using Mackie, Henderson and at a push McGinn as CH cover.
  2. Don't really understand this one. We've plenty cover in the midfield positions with Nesbitt and Yeats able to drop in there if Spencer or Hendo are missing as well as McGinn. We need a GK and would have prioritised a Rudden type loan striker over another midfielder too as Shanley and Allan quite weak back up imo
  3. I do think we need to revisit the under 12s go free (unless its still being subsidised by INEOS) and introduce a nominal charge or keep free but locate in a family friendly zone. At the moment an adult can claim more than 1 free child seat which will be increasing attendance numbers but not necessarily bringing in extra income. Maybe a solution would be free tickets if adult season ticket is also paid for in a designated family zone or small rising charge depending on where else in the ground the seat will be (e.g £25 SS, £35 MS, £50 Prime)? I'm all for 1 off free tickets to things like schools, youth clubs etc for individual games.
  4. Oh and while I like Yeats, would have gone 3 at the back 2nd half and threw on Morrison instead. Leaving our best player out completely was just mental.
  5. Not much to add that hasn't already been covered in depth but a couple of things that maybe haven't as much. There are some fringe players that just aren't good enough (Allan, Mackie, McGinn, Lawal, Oliver and I suspect Shanley but he needs time) and a few like Ross and Agyeman who CAN offer something but it's very hard to impress when the entire team is changed like that. Play the usual formation and use Ross and Agyeman as the only 2 changes and they've got a chance. I actually thought Ross did ok yesterday but you get the point. Unfair to expect Agyeman (for example) to turn in a star performance with everything else going in in that selection and formation yesterday. The other point is around McGlynn. He's rightly deserved the praise for signings and formation that looks like its going to get us out of League 1 barring days like yesterday. Good. If we do get up, Teams and managers at a higher standard will take advantage of of our rigid formation and line up - we complained last year he didn't have a plan B. He still doesn't. That's clear and long term worrying but let's get this season over the line and worry about that later. He also rarely has a season that doesn't feature a last quarter collapse but again, let's hope we've too much in the starting XI for that to happen again.
  6. Other than those already mentioned, I really get wound up by Motherwell. Far too long in the top flight, a horrible ground and a nothing town. A club who are well overdue some financially crippling seasons in the championship. Like both Shire and Stenny but particularly The Shire. Would love them to get back into the leagues but with the set up there and no ground or assets I fear its never going to happen.
  7. The connection between players and fans is great to see. Will help with contract negotiations too, players like Morrison, Donaldson, Henderson etc will struggle to find a better option than Falkirk in the Championship with that backing.
  8. Whats the story with Fyvie still playing league 1. He's clearly a lower premier/top of championship standard of player. Without wishing to be disrespectful, he seems to be wasted at Cove (esp in L1)
  9. This could be our hardest game yet if Cove turn up. Always felt Burrell was better than the minutes we gave him and can certainly run the channels well and finish (as he's showing this season). Would have been a better 2nd striker than Allan in my view to keep but if his attitude is a problem then playing for Hartley will suit him. Is Fyvie fit for this one? At least we know we can let Mikey Doyle hit the byline as often as he wants without any threat he'll deliver a decent cross.
  10. Expecting more of a slog today than recent weeks. Would take a scrappy 1 nil - 3 points a must with Hamilton playing later and a tough test ahead on Tuesday.
  11. If he's off down south then feasible that we're getting a 6 figure sum. Would hope that if we've had notice then one or two are lined up to replace him. Still wouldn't be surprised to see us sign Gullan from Raith though he wouldn't be like for like.
  12. Maybe a daft question but are you a subscriber? If not you won't see it.
  13. Given our recent signing history I wonder if Jamie Gullan at Raith is one we're looking at. Seems to be out the team there and McGlynn will know him well.
  14. Would go as far as to say McGovern is THE best keeper I've seen with us. Went onto the highest level too shutting our Germany at the Euros. Would love him back.
  15. I also don't think he'll start tomorrow and agree that Hendo/Spencer is the better option but... He's club captain and has been a guaranteed starter under McGlynn when fit before his injury so I don't think it's an outrageous question to ask. McGlynn does tend to try and make room for his favourites sooner rather than later.
  16. This game is so important in a number of ways. Opening up a gap between ourselves and Hamilton could even help with things like contract discussions in Jan for those out of contract next year. It'll be interesting to see if McGinn comes straight back in. We somehow need to find a starting place for Ross too I think though great to have options off the bench atm
  17. This sounds more likely. Difficult to believe anyone his age (or any age) has their phone switched off for days at a time.
  18. No reason FSS benefits couldn't also be experience rather than monetary value. E.g a vote on shirt design each year from 4-5 options but only FSS members eligible, the chance to win a manager/player visit to a school, win a chance to travel on the team bus etc etc
  19. When Mungo played for East Stirling, we once presented him with a birthday pie (a scotch pie with 29 written on it in brown sauce!) Didn't realise he'd passed away, very sorry to her that. A great player!
  20. Very encouraging that they're considering additional benefits for FSS members (discounts etc). Should help push numbers up.
  21. 100% agree, Cove's form suggests they'll do much more than just have a say. They'll be looking at Saturday thinking a win brings them to 6 points behind no doubt with money to spend in Jan. Hamilton too have money burning a hole in their pocket from the deadline day sales they made. We may not be able to bring in extra bodies but we do need at least a Plan B for games like last night in terms of formation. We can't risk being 1 trick pony all season or stalemates will become more regular. A win on Saturday would be huge!
  22. Not a disaster. Need 3pts on Saturday now. Lose and could be 2nd with Cove only 6 behind despite what's been an exceptional start.
  23. I think there'll be a decent turnout for the TNS game regardless of kick off time. Unusual opponents and the chance to reach another cup final and hopefully extend our lead as the most successful team in challenge cup history
  24. Would be excellent if we could loan some out. McKay and Allan definitely but Lawal getting minutes somewhere else could be the making of him too.
