  1. Those good scalps don't matter though, only the result of the final matters. According to you. At the beginning of that very same post.
  2. Maybe, but like last time they'll have pre-tournament friendlies with the exact group that goes to the euros. The march window, unlike this one, isn't competitive games, has no bearing on potential seeding for the euros etc. If you had to pick one which is best suited to checking out any prospective additions to the euros squad, that looks the best bet. Assuming, of course, that Clarke is considering anyone else for the tournament squad proper.
  3. Doesn't appear to be the way Steve Clarke sees it. It would be good if McCrorie did go somewhere and get some game time. Might actually get an idea of how good he is, or is not.
  4. I can see the argument for trying a few more players out, but there's a window in March in which we can do that if there is anyone Clarke is seriously considering for the euros squad. I would probably have liked another keeper who actually plays games in ahead of McCrorie, but ultimately it's going to be Kelly or Clark in goals so that third choice goalie berth isn't worth being bothered by. Still enough there to win both games.
  5. Seen him before, during and after the game, including as he walked, sans moon-boot and crutches, out of the stadium.

  10. Aye, definitely. I didn't think he'd top his two penalties in the playoff shoot-outs, but he blew them out the water with that goal. A seminal moment (you can say that again, etc etc)
  11. Given the pant wetting going into the group and the game itself about Haaland, the fact they kept him really rather quiet and he only scored from a penalty would suggest that side of the performance wasn't poor at all. The defensive, off the ball side of the performance wasn't poor, from my recollection. I didn't feel under any real threat prior to the penalty and thought we ought to have made more of some first half forays (a few good blocks and Dykes being on his heels for a Robertson cross stick in the mind). The result itself, though, and the manner of it, surely places that firmly in the heroic category, even for you. Winning football matches is more than just possession domination, chances created etc, especially away internationals to your chief opponent in the group. Went a goal down, kept the mentality, kept belief, and turned it around at the death with sheer determination for the equaliser and then an excellent, excellent goal to win it. That's heroic.
  12. Yes, you actually argued that the crucial win of the group, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat with two goals in 100 seconds within the last gasps of the game, wasn't, in fact, heroic. It most emphatically was, and remains so. The winner was even arguably a proper zero-to-hero moment, with one of the most unfancied members of the squad popping up to brilliantly finish off an exquisite move and make a lot of supporters in the stadium and watching on via TVs look silly for bemoaning the sub (not half as silly as you're making yourself look here, mind you). Possibly the best moment I've had in a stadium in my adult life.

  17. You get some weird results in these friendly games at times, so that should allow some hope of an upset. Even so, I just cannae see those nations league B diddies getting a result.
  18. That move for the third goal looks better and better every time you watch it. Outstanding. Comfortably the best team in the world right now. Ever? That's not for me to say. But yes.

  24. Yeah, could well be that's what he meant, hard to tell. Whatever it took to get Frizz back, I'm definitely delighted we did it. An outstanding bit of work to retain him.
