  1. Agree with the comments on W. Gibson playing. He done more in 5 minutes than McKenna done all game. I do feel a bit sorry for McKenna though - he’s not all that comfortable going past somebody clearly and the feedback from thistle fans was that he looks a lot more comfortable at centre back than right back. Shouts of “your useless McKenna” aren’t going to help somebody low on confidence. Gibson can’t do everything either. I saw him pass on the message to Hendrie to put Lewis on when we were 4 up. If he’s playing, he probably needs to let Murray be more hands on. Overall, I thought it was a really good performance. The 2nd goal was crucial as Edinburgh had come back into it, but defensively we stood up to crosses really well. East was excellent, as were Wilson and Hendrie. Paton got himself in some fantastic positions, but could do with being more clinical. Its nitpicking, but Reilly looked pretty low on confidence and I didn’t think was in the game much. It also annoyed me more than it should losing the clean sheet. D.McKay was the poorest of the 3 centre half’s for me, a couple of times he didn’t look all that convincing and the foul for the penalty was very poor. Really good win and performance, but still areas to improve on.
  2. Give Hendrie player of the season. What an excellent first half from him, some quality runs from lwb. Paton could’ve scored 3/4 himself. Do feel like we are lacking a bit creatively, but been on top the entire half.
  3. Doubt it, looks like a clear cut 3-5-2 to me. Exhilarating stuff. If we are still pish defensively with 5 defenders then just relegate us now.
  4. I did caveat with an apparently. From a usually fairly reliable Twitter source.
  5. One more to be signed apparently before the end of the day.
  6. People crying out for a target man seem to have got it with the new signing, Ewan Bange. Nice to have another option. Sir Stephen still doing Queens favours, some guy.
  7. Agree about the midfield. We are looking a bit outnumbered in there at times. Really missing Wilson who can actually put in a tackle. I had the fear after the first 15 minutes, but we starting passing it a bit. Still chasing shadows at times. Lee Connelly shouldn’t be benched for another game the rest of the season, even if he is a bit of a fanny. Miles ahead of the rest of our team.
  8. Need somebody just to man mark Arfield or he’s getting a hat trick tonight.
  9. I’ll plump for stupid, looks like a 4-2-3-1. Fair play though. Dumping Paul McKay on the bench deserved - thought he might have been suspended but can’t recall the rules on cross competition suspension
  10. Yeah avoiding a total scudding tonight would be nice. I am very worried. I’d go for something like: GK - Currie Defence - LB: Hendrie. CB: East; D McKay; McKenna. RB: Gibson Midfield - CM: McGrory; Todd; Cochrane ‘Forwards’ - Connelly just in behind Paton Keeping it to 3 or less would be very reasonable.
  11. I meant to moan about this in my initial post. What the f**k is it with us taking throw ins. It wasn’t the first time we’d gifted the ball back to Falkirk from a throw in. Really is pretty pathetic from full time footballers.
  12. I think this might be the worst Queens defence I’ve seen in my lifetime. Shocking performances this afternoon. McKenna did fine, the rest were pish. McKay and Morrison being out is unfortunate for them personally, but probably good for the team. Gibson going to have to think about playing himself at right back. Special mention to Cochrane for spending 45 minutes chasing shadows and not putting in a tackle the full second half. Was it Paton that missed that chance at 2-1? Needs to improve his finishing. Connelly needs to start from next week. Fair play to Falkirk though. We had our tails up and deserved our goal, but they totally dominated the last twenty minutes and looked really composed. Really professional performance.
  13. Defence is absolutely powderpuff. That was pathetic from Stuart Morrison - no idea what Gibson sees in him. Not much better from McKay and East for the second goal, totally bullied.
  14. The £2k a week we spent on Dobbie was worth it for Peter Houston’s meltdown alone.
  15. Well played. Hopefully this is a result that kick starts our league campaign. When was the last time we won a game from behind? Feels like ages.
  16. We certainly have a fair few centre halfs, but we don’t have any natural wing backs. Quitongo excepted maybe. I agree with the comments about Connelly coming straight back in. Does feel harsh if it’s McKechnie that misses out though, thought he had a really good second half last week.
  17. Agree about the programmes. I imagine with printing costs, it’s likely a loss making venture to be honest. I think I read that Morton have done away with them entirely this year, I imagine others will follow. A digital version might be a good alternative, but clearly doesn’t cater to all. @Fae_the_'briggs makes a good suggestion on the prize draw tickets though. We should be trying to maximise purchases of these.
  18. They were getting sold in the club shop when I was in about 2:15.
  19. I thought Airdrie looked good in the first half. Ballantyne and Jamieson both getting joy out of Quitongo and Frizzell getting in behind Cochrane and Wilson. We were dreadful though. Somebody mentioned that we looked ok defensively, couldn’t disagree more with that. I thought Morrison was horrific, slashed at everything, wanted far too long in possession. McKay was pretty poor the entire game as well. Airdrie just put balls onto his head or in behind him and you could guarantee he was putting it out of play high up the pitch. No composure at all. Credit to East playing beside the two of them and still managing to have a good game. Gibson needs to get the 3 at the back in the bin, or the support will soon turn against him. We don’t have the personnel for it - both Quitongo and McKenna were too deep and we were stuck in our own half. The second half was better, but still not good enough if we want to be challenging for promotion. Return of 2 points from the 3 games we’ve started with is poor.
  20. Conditions going to be challenging this afternoon. 29 degrees at kick off - assume we’ll see water breaks?
  21. Happy to add my name to the list of those willing to help out. I’m lanarkshire based, but aim to get to 2-3 games a month. Happy to send updates out via Facebook or Twitter when I’m at the games. Thankfully missed the horror show today.
