  1. Game might be a total shambles on Saturday looking at the weather forecast. Strong gusts for kick off time. Can remember a few matches at Palmerston ruined by the wind. Quarters I think of the Scottish cup at home to Falkirk one I remember most where I’m sure Falkirk scored with a heavily wind assisted goal.
  2. Aye, but he was at Palmerston this morning rejecting an 18 month deal because our budget is pish.
  3. Can we get Grant Murray to f**k tonight? We were pish with 3 at the back, so I don’t know how he thought going down to two centre backs having seen how pish we are defensively was going to yield anything other than a pumping. Fair play to Dave McKay and Stephen Hendrie for two of the worst defensive displays I’ve ever seen in my years watching Queens.
  4. Anybody want to hazard a guess at our shape? 4-2-3-1 with Gibson at right back (miracles do happen), Irving left wing potentially and Connelly just in behind Paton?
  5. The headline of the article in the daily record which I assume has come from the standard is typical journalistic hyperbole, but what Gibson has actually said is pathetic. It’s not even true either. The numbers at the game were shite, but I heard nothing negative all game and the young guys were fairly vocal. Get the feeling that Gibson needs to grow up a bit. Should be feeling good after a 4 nil win, but that’s really pissed me off.
  6. Wilson was like a man possessed that second half. Was just running past players like they weren’t there and put in an excellent shift defensively. Huge difference to our team when he’s on his game (and fit).
  7. Yep, that array of defensive options we have on the bench. Agree positionally he has struggled, but no more so than young Gibson on the other side. Clinical is not one word I’d use to describe us this season, but we have been today. Fair play to Paton for taking both his chances.
  8. Lewis Gibson is a winger and that worked just fine away to Edinburgh. It worked less well against Alloa when the pressure was on us, as Gibson did get caught out. I agree we are short of a right wing back though. Most, if not all, our best performances have been with a back 3 this season. Can’t see us likely to deviate from that on Saturday.
  9. Doubt he’ll get sacked yet, but I think that’s the beginning of the end for Wullie today. A capitulation to that extent is seriously concerning, especially considering we were the better side for the first 45 minutes. It wasn’t like we were outplayed by a far superior team - the arse just totally collapsed. Defensive recruitment, and performances the key failing. The team is absolutely powderpuff and there was no leadership on the pitch today to try steady the ship when we went 2-1 or 3-1 down. Demoralising.
  10. We’ve got a black third kit. Imagine we’ll wear that for our next trip to Grangemouth.
  11. It wasn’t good, but 3 points nonetheless. We were playing with essentially 5 forwards by the end, but fair play to Gibson for going for it. The subs definitely made a difference and we showed a bit of fight the last 15 minutes to grind out the win. Particular mention for Quitongo, Bange and Gibson. Ruth didn’t do much for me, but done well to win the penalty. Performance wise overall, Gibson surely can’t be happy with that though. A return to the back 3, but it often played like a 5. East absolutely cruised it, but otherwise we didn’t look particularly good defensively. Really lethargic going forward, tonnes of careless passes. I’ll need to see it again but Currie won’t be happy with the goal he conceded either. We’ve played the two poorest teams in the league twice, so the rest of the quarter is going to be tough. Need to play a good bit better to get anything from Falkirk next week.
  12. Can we not count friendlies at NDP? If so, let’s make it two wins on the trot.
  13. There’s an article from this week where Gibson says a bit on him not playing: Gibson opted not to select himself in the match day squad for the past two matches. But he admits he’ll have to reconsider what his plan will be for what now is a huge home match at the wrong end of the table against Peterhead. He said: “I’d rather stay away from myself to be honest. I didn’t select myself in the team and that’s it. “But I believe in the dressing room in there that they had more than enough to come here and get a result. “They haven’t and now we need to have a wee re-think and see what I do next. https://www.dng24.co.uk/pressure-is-on-me-not-players/
  14. Fantastic idea for the third kit. £5 from every sale going to mental health projects in the community. Well done all involved. Cracking looking kit from the video too.
  15. I’ve got a bit of sympathy for the change in formation the last two games, although last night and to a lesser extent on Saturday, I had absolutely no idea where players were playing with it seeming to change constantly. The 3 at the back worked well against FCE and Alloa but we didn’t have the personnel to play that in the last two games with Morrison, P. McKay and Gibson out injured. P.McKay looks to be close but with East out, we have the same issue. Take the point about maybe Ryan Muir playing at right wing back as he looked capable in the league cup. Agree entirely about finding an identify and formation and sticking to it. On paper the players should be capable of at least top 4, and we are a full time side. The points return in the first 10 games is verging on disastrous.
  16. That really was a brutal watch tonight. East going off injured is also a massive blow. We could find ourselves in the relegation spots after the next two games which is a really grim thought. The substitutions weakened us and probably came too early, as we dominated the first 10 minutes of the second half then were totally stifled by Kelty thereafter. McKenna unbelievably was our best player for me tonight which gives you a good indication of the quality of the performance.
  17. He scored a cracking goal, but that apart don’t kid yourself on, he had a shocker. Was lucky not to get sent off before getting taken off. Couldn’t agree less with the comments about Wilson as well. No coincidence since he’s came back into the team, we haven’t lost a game.
  18. Good game to watch if you were a neutral. Two teams going for it, even Airdrie after they went down to ten, and defensively both teams poor. I think the shape was all wrong first half. Left us far too open, but I can see why Gibson tried it as we didn’t have the personnel to play the 3/5 at the back. Bizarre for Cochrane to start ahead of McCrory though and Ruth didn’t do enough to justify his selection for me. In an attacking sense, we played pretty well. That’s the best I’ve seen Reilly since he came back. Connelly lively and Todd had a good game. Wilson solid as usual. The most frustrating thing was how we played after Airdrie went to 10. A lesson on how not to play against a team with a man down. Passed the ball too slow. Hit the ball long. Still looked vulnerable to losing a goal, but in saying that we had a glaring chance to win it at the end. Closer to the bottom than the play offs. 4 draws now from 9 games and really need to start turning those into wins.
  19. An absolute screamer, but Cochrane has been horrendous otherwise. Lost count of the amount of times he gave the ball away. Just running around and not making any tackles. It’s an entertaining game, but f**k me we are open. It’s a lopsided 4-3-1-2 (was, looked to change it before half time) with no width and Ruth and Reilly doing not an awful lot. Score could end up anything. Be surprised if there’s not another 2 or 3 goals at least.
  20. 3-1 win for our reserves this after against Hamilton. Anybody got any idea of the queens team? Couple of names in the Hamilton side I recognised.
  21. According to a comment made by SPFL Trust on Twitter, likely to be w/c 3rd October but is still to be confirmed. Linfield vs Queen of the South in Belfast please. Every other draw looks pretty pish.
  22. I received a link emailed following the game on Saturday - https://qosfc.ticketco.events/uk/en/m/e/trust_trophy_vs_fc_edinburgh .
  23. Glad you enjoyed coming down for the game! Doing the 42 is a great way to see the country. I’ve not done it consciously, but think I’m about 6 or 7 away now. Should tick a couple of those off this season. On the programmes, you didn’t miss them. I heard a guy asking for a programme when I was in the club shop and he was told there was a printing issue. We do still usually have them I believe.
