  1. I can’t pretend to be an expert, but my understanding is that with most loans the ‘parent club’ covers at least some of the players wages. Obviously the Wilson loan wasn’t a typical one though. No idea why we’d agree to a contract termination if it wasn’t in our financial interest to do so.
  2. No surprise, although I did think enough 9 pointers would take the 130 odd that are left. Tickets still available though.
  3. Cat 1 (€600) and cat 1 restricted view (€480) still available from having had a look. Edit to add: There were 1500 left this morning so probable i think it could drop to the 9 pointers.
  4. Managed to get lucky and got a ticket for Hungary. Surprised it got down to 10 points so absolutely delighted.
  5. I live less than 10 minutes drive away from New Douglas Park and we’ve had pretty heavy snowfall overnight, although I'm at the very top of Hamilton and sometimes it’s a different climate here. Decent chance it could be off I’d say.
  6. That could be the most surprising result in my 23 years following Queens. I’d have put my house on us getting pumped today.
  7. I don’t believe they’ll disappear, they don’t at any level. I believe they’ll reduce though. That interview is an embarrassment. The players must be petrified of making mistakes with a manager that hangs them out to dry publicly like Bartley has. It’s not the first time either. I know that approach might appeal to some fans, but it just screams of someone lacking in basic leadership and managerial skills. It’s quite clear to me from watching his interviews why players aren’t performing for him. The players aren’t intentionally going out to make mistakes. He needs to remember he’s managing players at league 1 level who won’t be earning an awful lot. Sounds like the atmosphere he’s created at the club with his obsessive personality is the main reason for the pathetic start to the season.
  8. Alan Archibald and Neil Scally combo for me. Done well with Thistle.
  9. Both Bartley and Gibson were in the inexperienced punt category of managerial appointments. High risk, high reward. If they do well, they potentially get us promoted and they are away for compensation - particularly Bartley with the length of contract. Don’t think I need to spell out the if they don’t do well scenario as it’s came to fruition with both. The 2 year deals for players particularly concerning. Could end up with players on FT contracts in league 2. A more experienced appointment would be welcome next though. The threat of getting relegated given our current trajectory is too high.
  10. How quickly after the game till he’s sacked then? Surely can’t survive this. A 5 or 6-1 defeat might not be the worst thing to make sure.
  11. The Scottish cup is a write off after drawing Dundee United, so that 2 week period after the Kelty game next week looks a good time to appoint a new manager. Failure to win next week, and I’d be be getting rid. Wouldn’t be adverse to going with McCall.
  12. I don’t disagree with the sentiment. But that isn’t the system we are playing. Bartley’s preferred formation at the start of the season was a 4 at the back. Again though, we’re having to make up for failings in our defence and seem to have resorted mostly to a 3 at the back. I’ve not made it to the last few games, but understand it’s maybe been a 4 but with Paul McKay in front of the defence for the last couple. I’d actually quite like to see what Gibson would be like in a central ‘number 10’ or floating role. When fit, he should be starting more games than not for me.
  13. That must be close to the youngest starting 11 we’ve ever put out. Houston the oldest player born in January 2000.
  14. It’s mentioned in Cove’s match report on their website.
  15. Queens attack vs Edinburgh City defence from the 14th minute onwards. We were dominant with the ball, but until the final 15-20 minutes it wasn't as if we were passing up guilt edged chances. Walker put some great balls into the box, but no takers, and nothing really came off for Connelly, Reilly or McKechnie all game. Was looking like one of those games where we just wouldn’t score. Fair play to the subs that came on who all made a difference. Bartley instructed Gibson and McKechnie to switch wings and within minutes Gibson put in a typical quality cross and a really good first time finish from Doherty on the volley. Doherty fluffed a chance minutes earlier, but he made a difference when he came on. As did Todd to be fair. The McClelland second booking was harsh. Queens fans stupidly ran on, but it wasn’t like McClelland was at the barrier. Was barely on the running track. Held out well at the end with a 5-2-2 formation with only two actual defenders.
  16. They’ve been doing this since they went 1 up and reasonably effectively to be honest. We’ve been dominant since (deservedly) going 1 down with Harvey Walker beating Jacobs at will, but we haven’t created anything really clear cut. Need to up the pace of our build up, and could do with Connelly, Reilly and McKechnie being sharper.
  17. Our defending is hilariously bad. What an absolutely pathetic first half from Paul McKay. The lack of desire to try and stop Sammon heading in the third is unforgivable. Bartley has to carry the can for some of that defensive shitshow and leaving Ambrose out. Also, just stop football if penalties are getting given for our third goal. Obviously it hits his hand but the Alloa player is a yard away with his hand by his side. Been daylight robbery if we got anything from that game.
  18. 3 at the back with Ambrose in the middle, McKay (right) and McClelland (left) either side. Houston at ring wing back and Logan left wing back. A three in the middle of Todd, Cochrane and Mimnaugh. I’d say Mimnaugh was the least advanced of the 3. McKechnie and Reilly up top. Ambrose strolled it mostly, I’m not McKay’s biggest fan but played well. McClelland a mixed bag - at fault for the goal for me and looked uncomfortable dragged out wide. Comes across as a bit rash. Cochrane the best of the 3 in the middle, and Reilly looked sharp again. The biggest difference I’ve seen is fitness. I worried as we chased after Queens Park for long spells in the first half that we’d tire, but fitness seemed to barely tail off by the end.
  19. Add Aidan Fitzpatrick, Michael Ruth and Connor Murray to that.
  20. I’ll play the game. Stirling Albion his last Scottish club, but been in America the last couple of years. Played in the ‘number 10’ role the second half. Namesake of a former player who had a magic hat…
  21. Obviously just a pre-season friendly in June, but the poor quality of the trialists was the most disappointing thing for me (and Wilson getting injured again). Number 10 the best out the lot in the second half, although not sure even he looked first team quality. I know who he is but I’ll not name him here. Some of the new signings had decent games. McLelland looked decent next to Brydon and vocal when one of the trialists wasn’t pulling his weight tracking back. Houston played well also, as did Mimnaugh. Played a 4-2-3-1 both halfs which I suppose could be an indication of Bartley wanting to move away from the 3 at the back this season.
  22. I thought overall he was one of the worst performers in the dreadful defence we had pre Jack Brydon. He was the poorest player on the pitch at the 5-2 defeat to Falkirk just before Christmas. Surprised he’s got another gig at a League 1 club to be honest.
