  1. Championship players just voted him into the PFA Team of the Year. Lol.
  2. I agree, he's got a bad moment in him for sure but he's also made some big saves that have saved us crucial points. Most of his worst moments have come at times when our defence was decimated with injury, and aerially (particularly at set pieces) he does make me nervous, but when his confidence is up he's a decent shot stopper, and his penalty record has been frankly excellent. I wouldn't sniff at looking or getting a better option, but not at the expense of improving the depth and quality of our attack and midfield. That should 100% take precedent.
  3. Great result. Mehmet with 3 penalty saves in a row now as well. Onwards and upwards
  4. tbf, these are friendlies and the important thing is giving people minutes. I'd expect similar against NI regardless of what the scoreline is. However, the subs in general have not gone well...
  5. Has there been any indication that the change was purely tactical? My gut feeling is that, given McPake's referred to the fixture congestion in this spell, it was a move to give Otoo a period of rest. Not suggesting there wasn't a tactical tweak attempted, our shape obviously changed with the move and it didn't come off so it's totally right to question it either way, but I'm still inclined to think there was some forward thinking in there. If that gut-feeling is wrong though, and the change was purely tactical, then it's as baffling as everyone suggests it is.
  6. Yeah the game yesterday was awful. Poor performance from both sides, coupled with a bobbly winter pitch made for an eye-bleeding watch. Clean sheet and a point though. Take it and run.
  7. Personally if there's any chance to continue developing Summers through a loan deal next season I'd take it. He's shown promise, and there's a good few players I'd consider getting rid before him, or Moffat for that matter. Whether we get the chance to loan them again ofc remains to be seen. A lot more responsibility has been put on Summers and Moffat's shoulders than was intended, given the squad issues we've had. They haven't always gotten pass marks, but they have done some of the time and some individual quality from both of them has dragged us to results in previous games. Some criticism is fair sure, but I feel like 1 or 2 assessments of them I've seen here (and have heard in EEP for that matter) have seemed a little harsh, imo. As I say, there are a few other players in this team, that there has been plenty discussion on already, who's standards are far more concerning than those two.
  8. Not so sure that's true just yet to be honest. Things look grim just now there's no doubt, and we need to be a world away from that Morton performance as quickly as possible. However, I think it's easy to forget how small this league is, things can change for the better as quickly as they can change for the worse. We are not miles behind the rest of the league just yet. String a few results together and we're right back in it, and in the next 2 weeks we have an opportunity to get that ball rolling. Hard to imagine just now, and if we play like we did against Morton then of course it's not going to happen... but there's still enough football left for me to not be completely doom and gloom (although I certainly felt it on Saturday).
  9. Didn't get down for this one, but would have taken a point before the game. Sounds like we set up to be strong defensively and accomplished that. For folk who were there, what was the consensus on MFW? A clean sheet seems a decent sign but any insight would be appreciated As if on cue!
  10. What a grim day to be a pars fan it is today. At least the statement this morning was everything it needed to be in as few words as possible, but still just sickened by the whole thing. I actually found out about the video thanks to some friends from England who'd come across it on twitter, and by now it's amassed millions of views. Lasting long term damage to the club, and that's not even starting to talk about the poor lad on the receiving end. Wish him all the best and hope the club take some action in making that so, alongside the bans they've promised. Also, open message to whoever it is that chucks those smoke bombs onto the pitch. It happens every time we score in a big game, and every time it totally kills momentum, especially yesterday with the second one that was chucked. A single smoke bomb on a pitch creates 0 atmosphere, it only dampens it. Also they absolutely reek. Please ffs, stop. I should be pissed off about the game itself, not all this other shite. Thank goodness our next game is away to Queens Park these wee fannies will be nowhere near it.
  11. meh, slip of the tongue fingers. "It's his thigh again" does suggest the point still stands though.
  12. There's been a fair bit of discussion around whether we've potentially rushed players back for a while now. Up until today I've mostly dismissed it as bad luck, but we got forced into subbing Bene on only for the same hamstring to go within 30 mins. Imo that's pretty telling, unless there's a factor in the injury I'm not aware of or taking into account. Feels like, unless we get bodies in the door in January we are going to have this continual cycle the whole season. We know fine well the squad's been stretched pretty much to breaking point since we started, can only see it continuing that way until we can rest people appropriately. From the clubs output though, they've been setting us up to expect little in the window. Sigh.
  13. Probably ended up being the perfect game to have after Friday's debacle. Home tie asap against a team in a very worrying place. Only credit I can give Arbroath is they kept it very tight and left us with no room in the 1st half. At half time it looked like we wouldn't find an answer and the confidence was shot. We did though, and once we opened the scoring and forced Arbroath into chasing the game, the gulf between the sides was all too apparent. Wighton, Jakubiak and O'Halloran all had a field day as soon as they came on with the space that had opened up, and McCann improved a lot too. In the end, a routine win with a striker bagging a brace is all too welcome. Obviously hoping all the lads recover ok from another injury-fest as well. What a ball-ache that saga continues to be.
  14. Tragic performance and an embarrassing result. Midfield largely absent, lots of passive passing with no intent to break through the lines or cause problems. Powder puff in front of goal. I don't like being harsh on our players and have often given them the benefit of the doubt, but what I've just seen is totally unacceptable. Raith played well, overloads everywhere they wanted them, quicker on their feet and on the ball, and thoroughly deserve the win. Serious work needs to be done in January imo, because a few of those players need a real wake up call.
  15. Nervous about this one now. I can understand some of the apathy that has come before on this thread. 6 derbies in a single season is way too much, and whilst I love the Scottish cup I'd much prefer to get the wins in the league than here. Having said that, we have a real point to prove here. 3 losses against the Rovers in the space of a few months is not a reality I want to face at all. These games have been largely well contested and I expect another close tie, but we simply must get some bragging rights back.
  16. I meant we were lucky to get a point, but on another day we could have scored 3 or 4. To me, that's what "bagged" means.
  17. One one hand, we were lucky to get a point. On the other, a bit more luck and we could have easily bagged 3 or 4. Weird game but can't fault the effort or performance in the end. Thought ICT battled really well, particularly in the 2nd half, and given their shaky start to the season I honestly can't see them anywhere near the relegation spots if that keeps up. Kinda like Big Dunc as well so wouldn't be sad to see them do well.
  18. The big issue here is these kinds of mistakes are not isolated incidents. On their own, the reaction seems harsh. It’s been quite a common thread so far this season though, so the frustration is definitely understandable.
  19. Going to be very tough this one. Our last two performances have been well below par, and whilst some faces are coming back, the ones that are missing are still really important players for us. Suspect I'll be nervous about the defence until Bene is back either way. Not sure about Raith. They've been very consistent as far as results are concerned but I wouldn't have necessarily expected that after the two games we'd played. What I am sure of though, is that if we play like we did against PT, or in that 1st half against Ayr, then we'll get humped. Big step up required from us and it's the perfect time to do it.
  20. It sounds like a no. It looks like a no as well. I wonder how embarrassed all the other jags are of you.
  21. I don't think a team regularly being better or worse than us has any real effect on whether we fixate on the good games or the shite games. Dundee Utd in recent history have pretty much always been better than us but playing them usually has some bite or excitement even if our recent record isn't all that. Likewise, whilst we have in recent times had the better of Airdrie, I'd expect both sets of fans to consider the 5 matches in the last season and a bit to all be tight, tense and enjoyable affairs. Granted, both those teams we've played a lot less often than yourselves. I think in all honesty, at this level if you play each other enough you get shit matches against anyone from time to time, and with Morton there have been a quite a few contenders for the shittest of the shit.
