  1. Thank you. It seems though as theirs a few young boys who watch greenstreet and think that's how to be a big man at the football. Sadly I've seen it quite a few weeks home and away. I just wonder if fans know if theirs any bother all the security cameras are reviewed after games.
  2. Next few training sessions should just work on crosses into the box. Current training sessions must involve mckay watching the ball come in. Then everyone blame each other and wave your hands about pointing at where others should be. Maybe we could find someone who can cross the ball too. Not over hit it or not hit the 1st man. In the last few games we needed guys who show a bit of dig. Mckays a shitbag when it comes to tackling. His long throw is now too predictable.
  3. Fair play rovers did the necessary for the points. Looked more like adding a 2nd than we did of scoring. McKay was shocking and manager spent more time moaning at Roberts than ever. The only time we troubled their defence was winning the ball high up the pitch but final pass or cross was terrible. Main difference was raith had a midfield who could carry the ball forward and make a pass. As usual we had a long ball. Even then as usual that didn't work. Our midfield or lack of have to take the blame today. Top spot pretty much gone and if it doesn't improve we will struggle for play offs too.
  4. That's a good shout. I think McKay will play though. Either right back or centre mid. Manager seems to like him or maybe just the long throw. In these games we seem to set up not to get beat rather than go for a win from the start. We have had success in away games from a fast counter attack but a home when teams sit in more we dont go for them from the start. I think the only way we are going to beat raith is to make them defend. Work their goalkeeper. If we sit back for a counter attack it's just asking for trouble with our obvious problems with crosses. As the saying goes attack being the best form of defence. I'd go with your line up as it wont be expected. Maybe get your name in as Murray's replacement.
  5. All his goals. messi must be looking over his shoulder eh. At least his record is better than a boy playing his first season in league football must be proud of the record.
  6. Given McDonald was one of our better players last season and I believe we got a few quid for him my only reason in replying to the post that hes the best left back in the league. Nobody knew about leon McCann until he played against us in the tea cake cup for Hamilton u21s. We won the game but i said to my mate during the game and everyone I spoke to later said how good was that wee left back. A few weeks later we got him on loan. Eckersly was the regular starter and like I said forfar know how good he is. Then eckersly got an injury and McCann came in has been a stand out both going forward and back. Then we hear Hamilton dont want him as they dont think he'll make the premier. I understand the guy saying hes never heard of him and maybe he doesn't pay much attention to other teams but leon wont be playing at this level much longer. McDonald is a good league 1 player but McCann is good enough for a higher league than this. Also edit just to say I've never heard the old boy this year shout come up here McCann. I think that says it all.
  7. Maybe that's because it's his first season in league football. Give it a year or two and everyone will know who this lad is. We had Kieron McDonald last season and and from what I've seen of him this season hes decent going forward but cant defend. If someone runs at him he backs off all the way to his box then tries to stop a shot or cross. Leon McCann is twice as good. Wins his share of headers for a small guy. Wins tackles and has a better delivery from crosses than McDonald. Adam eckersly is much better than McDonald too. Just ask any forfar fan and eckersly cant get into our 1st team. At the start of the season I wasn't happy at seeing McDonald go as he was one of the only players we had last season who could carry the ball forward but we did lose goals due to him backing off so much and allowing attackers to get to crossing or shooting positions. I'm not saying hes bad but if he was still with us hed be on the bench.
  8. So you fancy leon McCann for a goal. Bold prediction there mate.
  9. Anymore on kenny miller? Seen he was spotted at your game. I just think it would be a bit of a coincidence. He made is Livingston debut against us in league cup 1st game last season. Then thistle debut against us 1st game this season. Now we could be seeing his 1st appearance for the rovers. Funny how the football world spins.
  10. This really has to be game we win. If rovers win they really pull away from us and were relying on others to "do us a favour " . Given how we have played recently and our record against them I'm not filled with confidence. We do have goals in our team and a strong defence just cant seem to beat them. In the last month we have gone from a team looking like genuine contenders to looking they only meet at 2,55 on a Saturday. If we cant win this one then we are pretty much out of the race for top spot. A few of our players really have to step up. Will go to this one in hope rather than expectation.
  11. The last home game against stranrar we were 2 down. Today our keeper didn't have a save to make. Also stranrar didn't trouble our defence in the away game either. After the 1st home game against stranrar we climbed up the table. We never looked like losing today. If it wasnt for Currie it would have been 3 points. Good luck to stranrar for the rest of the games. They aren't a bad side. They just have to create more.
  12. That was poor. Kerr played like he was wearing ice skates. I think mckay was moved to right back as Murray thinks hes a better defender or just wants to keep the long throw. Gal played like he couldn't trap a bag of bricks. Fantastic save from their goalie at the end. Ally roy came on and was worst I've seen from him. The only time our goal was troubled was from our mistakes. Wee need to improve and quickly.
  13. It was the late goal that gave us the draw. Then we were unlucky not to win it with crightons header. Plus we are a different more confident team from then. The last game down at your place showed that.
  14. If you ask any airdrie fan do you expect to win the league? the answer will be no. Ask can you win it? For the 1st time in years the answer is yes. Surely it's fine for people to dream.. we haven't had much to believe in for a while. So for some to be milking the moment is fine. It's just a bit of banter as we have been the ones on the receiving end of the joke for too long. Finally we have a squad that can compete at the top of the league. Not that I expect anything but 3 points against stranrar then for the 1st time in a while a win over raith then who knows. GO ON MY FELLOW DIAMONDS. DARE TO DREAM.
  15. After the draw was made if anyone seen the results and premier league side beat a league 1 side 5-0 nobody would be very surprised. So losing against a premier team isn't the end of the season like some seem to be making out. The fact we went into this game with some belief of an upset shows how far we have come from the start of the season. My only disappointment from the game was the defending has been the same for the last few weeks. Lessons haven't been learned. Sean crighton has been a contender for player of the year up until the last few weeks. Its has not just been him though. A quick counter attacking team has to try to win the ball has high up the pitch as possible. Over the last few weeks our defence have returned to backing off and letting players run with the ball. This has cost goals. It seems more like some players wait and pretty much watch to see what the other team are going to do. If the manager doesn't like/trust roberts or hawkshaw then get an midfielder in who can carry the team up the pitch. 4-3-3 has been our most successful formation but having 3 defensive minded players in that position doesn't work. If we dont have the funds then let some of the reserve boys go on loan or leave. Sounds a bit harsh but having such a big squad and only a few reserve games left this season isnt going to help any of them. Looking at the big picture from the start of the season we are where we want to be. If we are going to challenge for the top position in the league we still have to improve. If the people making to decisions are happy with where we are then dont expect anymore players to come in. Disappointing to lose 5 but the league is where our focus should be anyway. Just hope the heads dont drop from players or fans. Some of those who came today I hope come nextweek and the players can see we are still behind them. Still a long way to go in the season.
  16. I think it's down to some players being a bit complacent. Feeling their position in the team was safe. The forward line work hard but their was only ally roy challenging for a place. Midfield knowing only hawkshaw and nat were there. Defence knowing only kerr was next. Now eckersly is back and Thomson is back. Andy Ryan will be challenging for a start. Against east fife seagal worked harder. The way nat played against forfar looks to have given mckay something to think about. The defence have been fantastic but kerr has been doing a good job in the reserves. I agree it's only really Mckays place under threat at the moment but we have good cover and a few who could come and do a good job.
  17. Great to see we have sold our ticket allocation for Saturday. I know it was said last year after the Celtic game that some may start coming to games regularly. Will be interesting to see how many turn up at the home game against stranrar the week after when the team could do with some real backing. I'd never frown on anyone who comes to support the diamonds but it just goes to show how big our support can be. Their is also a lot of fairweather fans who only look for big games. With all the tickets being sold and January payday after Christmas not for a couple more weeks for some How many real airdrie fans wont get to go.
  18. Horrible weather on the way home. Atleast it held off for the game. Frustration is the main feeling from today. Apart from the 1st 10 mins and the last 10 we went really troubled too much. The fifers scored a decent goal but the defending was back to last season. Backing off all the way into the box and allowing a shot. Got infront the same old defending deeper and deeper not pushing out when the ball gets cleared. I suppose a draw was a fair result in the end. Poor ref once again this week. Its stopped being funny. On the next week.
  19. I think the starting 11 won't change. The changes yesterday were to change the shape. I feel its good we have options on the bench to change the shape a few different ways. A few of the guys can play in various positions its just trying to keep everyone happy fit and in form with the game time. I'd maybe let goalie gal go out on loan and see how he goes. He was our first choice till his injury but has only played a few games in a year and a half. Having Hutton be as good as he has been and willison as back up is decent enough. I think at the start of the season they wanted to see how he recovered from a bad injury but now needs games to get back to where he was. I dont think hed be happy at sitting on the bench every week so maybe a loan would be the best option. I'd be sad to see him leave permanently.
  20. Funniest was the big number 6. Should really have got a 2nd yellow for pulling hawkshaw down. Basically just grabbed him when he was past him but went mental when the ref gave the free kick.
  21. That was the worrying part. His arm was up/out. Dont think it was given as bounced up off a knee but still had my arse twitching like a rabbit's nose.
  22. Looked as if hes blocked it with a knee and it bounced up into his arm. The sort of one if it's for your team its accidental but at the other end we'd all be shouting for it.
  23. Important 3 points for the diamonds. It won't go down as a classic but points on the board will do. I had to cover my eyes with the handball on the line. Just relived the ref shat it. Both defences were very organized so chances were few. Just pleased to get the win.
  24. Vital 3 points but had to scrap. Could have won more comfortably but could have been behind with McDonald handball on the line. McKay walked around 1st half watching the game pass him by. Its good to see Smith's workrate but its still not really happening for him. Crighton and fordyce solid again and deserved MOTM for McCann. Dont know how many times I've said the ref was poor this season but at least it didn't have too much influence on the outcome. Gal has to think a bit more about his position and keep an eye on the offside line. We take 3 points and move on to another challenge next week.
