Obviously the market is sparse for centre halves.

It’s not really. It’s like saying the market is sparse for wingers, strikers or central midfielders. There’s plenty out there.

I’m not hitting the panic button just yet as there’s still over a week to go but given we have a manager and a director of football (or whatever his title is) who’s job it is to sign players, going into the competitive stuff without a proper centre half isn’t good enough.

Lets hope this new talent dude spots someone sharpish then

Curious where the funding for all this additional support staff is coming from, must be impacting the playing budget surely, cannot see the new 'owners' bankrolling all this work and extra staff without a tangible return, if not this season certainly next term

I think that’s somewhat the elephant in the room just now. If we made a huge loss every year with next to nothing of a behind the scenes team and  a decaying stadium. I’m not sure where all the additional cash is coming from.

  3. What’s everyone’s thoughts on season ticket sales so far and what would be a successful number of sales once the serious stuff starts?

I’m probably in the minority of being a bit underwhelmed at the numbers so far given how many of them are now free, coupled with the significant improvements both on and off the park.

I'd like to see a first half back line on Saturday of Millen, Watson, Dick, Patterson.

    Just to satisfy my curiosity

I wouldn’t be surprised if you got your wish. Liam Dick is good for covering at centre half but I definitely wouldn’t want to be relying on him, Corr or Masson as a starter once the serious stuff starts. Although I’d also not be adverse to seeing us sign Patterson, I’d much rather see us bring in another proven CH before we sign a left back.

I mind the days of my auld man sending me round to the local shop to pick up the FFP with strict instructions not to read anything about the Rovers until he had purely because the information was up to date and/or with some new information/news. How times have changed.

I’ll see your FFP being the main source of news from the Rovers and raise you ‘The Raith Line’… who remembers phoning up that number for all the latest news from Starks Park?

  6. It’ll be really interesting to see how the commercial/sponsorship side of things grow over the next season or two. We are pretty top heavy when it comes to behind the scenes staff just now. If this is going to work then they will need to bring in a hell of a lot of money compared to what was coming in under Sim’s stewardship if we are going to pay these staffing costs as well as avoiding the 120k per season losses we used to incur.
