  1. Well that’s not true. The line is still part of the anthem and it was decided, as recently as 2010, not to remove the verse in question… https://www.thenational.scot/politics/19831872.line-crushing-rebellious-scots-god-save-queen/
  2. I’d rather they didn’t do a minutes silence after seeing what happened at Tynecastle the other night. It just turns into a toxic atmosphere with fans turning on each other. If we need to do something (if postponing Saturdays game wasn’t enough) then do a minutes applause. That way people who don’t want to join in can do so without upsetting anyone.
  3. Couldn’t agree more with what’s been said above. I’d also add the highland league is probably a far higher standard than some people are giving it credit for. It’ll certainly aid his development.
  4. I don’t think Killie would be too happy at loaning us another striker if it’ll only push another one of their strikers further down the pecking order. Kind of defeats the purpose of the loan.
  5. Were there any directors in there at the time sitting with a whisky whilst discussing signing targets with fans?
  6. I’m not sure that’s accurate. I’m sure your tax code is calculated based on a years earnings. If he was paid 1,000 a week for a year (52k) he would pay the same amount of tax as he would on a one off 52k lump sum payment.
  7. I wouldn’t say the price of hospitality is particularly bad, I think it’s the experience that’s the issue. I did it last season and I thought there was a lot the club could have done better. To begin with, the Raith Suite felt too sterile. Dim the lights a bit and get some music on. The menu was something along the lines of steak pie or chicken and gravy. How about modernising it a bit and offering a burger and chips, or pizza or something a bit less boring.
  8. Although I never thought I’d say these words, I actually think Liam Dick has played quite well this season so far.
  9. Someone on loan from Killie who Murray had at Airdrie apparently
  10. Let me give you an example of why… last season we were drawn against Celtic away in both main cup competitions and won the other cup. Probably as lucrative a cup season as we could have hoped for. This season, we were knocked out of the group stages of a group we should have progressed from easily. That’s going to be a loss in revenue versus last season. Had we had our squad built in time for the cup games started then there’s every chance we would have progressed and made more money out of the cup…. Same goes for the league. If we mess around in the first few games with a depleted squad, it’ll cost us.
  11. That may be the case but given we have so many spaces left in the squad, I’d be worried if we needed to get him off the books to bring others in at this late stage.
  12. Talking politics on a football forum should be a banning offence IMO
  13. Agreed… and even if it was, so what? If the club is trying to build bridges and get people back onside then great!
  14. I was really impressed with us last night. I know Peterhead were poor but we pressed them so high up the park and didn’t give them a second on the ball. Our attacking play was impressive too from a quick tempo point of view. This was the first glimpse of Murray’s promise of out working other teams. Once we get a few more bodies in the door we will be in a very good place.
  15. 100 sheets? You better keep them hidden from the Pars fans, they will have them painted in no time!
  16. Afternoon guys, can someone help me out? Was the old Telford Street stadium where B&Q is now?
  17. Did anyone manage to listen to the K107 show today? They had an extended interview with Ian Murray. I missed it and it’s not available on catch up yet. Was interested to know what was said?
  18. It’s not worked out like that for the leagues in Wales or Ireland.
  19. Peterhead are part time and looking to sign part time players so no, I don’t think it applies to us.
  20. You’re probably right with that. I wouldn’t be surprised if we faced Peterhead with the same squad we have just now. Thankfully they seem to be struggling too so it buys us a bit of time. With regards to Jim McInally’s piece on player recruitment, I don’t think it’s remotely comparable with our situation. Theirs is more to do with geography and presumably the cost of fuel.
  21. I get that side, but you have to balance out against the commercial side of getting your business done quickly too. Season ticket sales started off really well but I bet we won’t have sold many over the last couple of weeks. If we had an exciting squad already built and had been firing on all cylinders then we probably would have sold more.
  22. While I completely agree that booing (I didn’t hear any) at a friendly is way over the top, I don’t think it’s an over reaction to be unhappy at how we have played in the last two games. While some may be happy to go with the ‘it’s just about building up fitness’ line, the club are still charging people to come and watch these games so the players should still be expected to perform to a certain level.
