  1. I think that’s now Dick overtaken McGlashan and Sheerin as our longest serving manager since Bert Henderson. (That’s by days in the job, I’ve not totted up number of matches.)
  2. In the 14 seasons since the playoffs started, 39 points has been sufficient to avoid automatic relegation in all but one season (depending on goal difference). The 41 point mark has been sufficient to avoid the relegation playoff in all but one of those seasons. Think it’ll be higher than that this season though... maybe 43 or even 44 to be sure of 8th place. So we should be targeting 4 more wins from last 13... or 3 wins, 3 draws etc.
  3. Was really happy for Little and Whatley on Saturday, those two (and Bobby) started Dick’s first game in charge when we were not that far away from a playoff to get relegated into the Highland League. What a journey from that day! Tob’s performance was next level though, especially in the second half. Absolutely magnificent. Miko not too far behind either.
  4. Aye, by "kind of players i'd like to have seen us sign" I meant guys who can play on the wing with a bit of pace and attitude, not racists! That City-Clyde match was entertaining if only for the Clyde fans giving Craig Thomson pelters while the City fans made some less than complimentary observations about Love and Goodwillie... not exactly Scottish football's best role models. At least Kevin Nicoll came on as a sub...
  5. Clyde are decent on their day, saw them outclass Edinburgh City in the play-offs in May. And they beat QoS (with Dobbie) at home on Saturday, which is more than we managed. Chris Johnston and Ally Love are the kind of players I'd liked to have seen us signing in the summer, instead of three new holding midfielders... Still winnable though obviously (if Dick fancies it...)
  6. Surprised to see there's not more love for Jason Thomson, the Ginger Cafu. A massive addition to the team last year, in what had been a bit of a problem position for a while. Allowed Ricky to play regularly in the middle, without having someone like Gold trying to cover at right back. Great bit of signing work from Dick to get him in. Listened to that podcast JT did with Danny Denholm, and apparently JT was speaking to Ross Campbell about signing for Montrose after he'd decided to go part-time, when Dick came in and gazumped him at the last minute!
  7. See if Liam Henderson is getting homesick in Verona...
  8. Throwing out some names as potential loan forwards... Bruce Anderson (Aberdeen) - did well in this league with Dunfermline last season, but still behind Cosgrove, Wilson, Main etc in the pecking order at Pittodrie so pretty sure he'll go out on loan again somewhere this season. Remember his hat trick in the friendly last year? They might prefer him at a bigger team in the Championship but we're the nearest geographically and they could keep him in full-time training when he's not down with us. Ross Stewart (Ross County) - not going to get many minutes in the SPL ahead of McKay, Graham and Erwin. Dario Zanatta (Hearts) - not an out-and-out striker but did a job for Alloa in this league last season. Aidan Keena (Hearts) - another that Dunfermline had on loan last year. Rory Currie (Hearts) - had injury problems but scored 5 in 14 at East Fife last season (including one against us?) Craig Wighton (Hearts) - Dundee boy, wouldn't be surprised to see him out on loan at Championship level this season (maybe back at Dundee though). Pure idle speculation of course. Probably unrealistic. Any others?
  9. Was at the game, Hibs clearly deserved the win but 3-0 was possibly a wee bit harsh. In terms of the new boys, Wilson was pretty tentative in the first half and struggled to deal with Kamberi. Haven't watched the goal replays yet, but that early goal came straight through Wilson's channel, probably wasn't DJ's finest moment either, Kamberi shot from a pretty wide angle (perhaps that's harsh on DJ!). Thomson kept getting drawn infield to cover for Wilson which left space out wide for Hibs. To be fair to Wilson, I thought he did grow into the match in the second half and looked much more settled, although maybe Hibs took their foot off the gas by then. I thought the lad Murphy worked hard and was generally tidy in possession, occasionally did want too long on the ball and was caught by Hibs' pressing. Can see him slotting in alongside Whatley for away games if we want a more solid/defensive midfield. Bobby took quite a whack from Mallan in the first half (who got booked for his troubles) and was slow to get up. Didn't reappear for the second half but presumably just a precaution ahead of Alloa? Between the "penalty" just before half time and then Bobby going off, the second half was a bit of a training exercise but we competed well and Stewart had a couple of positive moments. Bobby didn't have much of a chance to make an attacking impact in the first half anyway, he was tracking back to help Hammy double up on Boyle quite a few times, presumably remembering Boyle's performance in the 6-1 game. Boyle was pretty quiet (apart from the "penalty"), Horgan looked more dangerous when he came on near the end. Also, Dick seemed to have a long chat with Scott Allan on the pitch after the final whistle, wonder what that was all about?
  10. Hi all, just joined. Any injury updates ahead of the Hibs game? Why did Thomson have to go off against Stirling? Is Stewart match fit? When is Donnelly expected back?
