  1. It's Chicago, it's already Russian Roulette living there AND driving to the airport!
  2. Would the Falklands War match in the UK? Plus perhaps the Miners Strike, Suez, Profumo Affair, Cambridge Five, Northern Ireland, Berlin Wall, Brexit vote, Scottish independence vote. Again, mostly before your time. Offhand, mainly in the U.S., things that dominated discussion and TV/radio: Civil Rights movement, the Vietnam War, Moon Landing, Watergate, Challenger, O.J., Clinton saga, 9/11, Obama (campaign/election), Trump saga.
  3. Assorted tarts: Lemon > Orange > Strawberry > Blueberry > Passionfruit
  4. Given that the overall opinion (in the Community) is that about 70-80% of the African-American community felt O.J. WAS guilty, but were just cheering because a Brother finally got away with killing a white person, the comparison with the upcoming Trump trials is interesting (and what that figure says about racial relations in the U.S. then is scary too). The societal and cultural impact of the O.J. trial was insane. I was in the Control Room at Fort Worth ARTCC when the verdict was released, and it was actually broadcast to aircraft in flight because so many pilots were requesting updates (because the passengers were demanding updates from them). You have to remember that there was no option for staying connected while in flight in the early 90's, other than slow updating dispatch messages and AYC radios.
  5. If you are able, be careful re: US tax rules with a lump sum. If it is allowable, a direct rollover would be the best option, assuming they’ll let you place it into a fund that lows access for you under the 59 1/2 rule. I watched an ex-spouse piss away an extra 10% + the 33% marginal rate for the amount when she withdrew everything incorrectly.
  6. Oh, it doesn't decide, but it certainly puts one or the other in pole position, IF they win. Both have still to face DU in the closing two weeks, and Airdrie have a slight advantage with Queen's Park being the extra match, while Partick get Ayr. Of course, both may face a DU team playing for fun and player assessment.
  7. For Partick, next week is a double...playing for some £90k+ in position money and the second home match in the playoffs. Not sure what Raith will play for...perhaps playoff tuning.
  8. Well, that clarified a lot... DU has effectively won the league now, with just 3 points to gain or (more likely) see Raith drop. That means Ayr are the potential lucky recipients of DU's love next weekend. Raith have locked second, technically at least, with the draw. That's bad news for Queen's Park with Raith travelling to ICT next weekend. Partick and Airdrie are fighting it out for a marginally advantageous who's home for the second match and the much more important who gets the extra £90k or so. Interestingly, a draw next weekend would leave them assured third and fourth between them. While one of the Pars or Ayr can technically match both Partick and Airdrie's 51 points, with a large GD and needing next weeks match to NOT end in a draw, while hoping the loser then loses all their other matches, it's a wee bit beyond unlikely. Both being 6 points and a GD ahead of Queen's in ninth makes their beds a wee bit softer tonight. Morton are a little less assured, but still have a nice buffer of 5 points, GD and next weekend at Arbroath. ICT have bootstrapped themselves out of ninth, but only by 2 points, where 3 would be sooooo much more comfortable. They have to look over the shoulder, but with a Raith team that's starting to look toward the playoffs, they have to feel a little relieved. Queen's Park, well, the wheels seem to have come off. With two of the last three matches against teams playing for position (and therefore £££'s), and a nasty GD disadvantage, the only good things you can say are ICT are just two in front, and you play Arbroath in two weeks. Arbroath, relegated, disheartened, and a mess. It's going to take some work to make sure the drop to League One doesn't threaten a Brechin, but the club has the fans to do that, if not perhaps the management.
  9. Delaying didn't help last time... ICT 1 - 3 Raith Arbroath 0 - 5 Morton Dundee United 3 - 1 Ayr Dunfermline 1 - 2 Queen's Park Partick 2 - 2 Airdrie
  10. So we enter the stretch run with three weeks of Friday night deadlines...next: FRIDAY 19TH APRIL ICT v Raith SATURDAY 20TH APRIL Arbroath v Morton Dundee United v Ayr Dunfermline v Queen's Park Partick v Airdrie
  11. That showed you lot...I reserved my zero points worth of picks and you all did better! This is getting right tight at the top, unlike the league... This weeks winner is @Dysart , with a solid 8 points. In first, @mcjameos moves to 105 points, but was wise to we checking his mirror because... In second, @Chapelhall chap is coming on like a steam train with 104 points... And in third, @williebraveheart is baffled that, once again, another above average week sees fall back a wee bit more with 100 points. 12. All the better for us after a last second winner today, and a string of wins, that allow us to clinch the league when you lot take down DU on the last night to get the dosh!
  13. That’s DU needing to earn just 5 more points, or have Raith drop them, to wrap up the league. Tomorrows games will likely provide a good bit of clarity all around.
  14. Down another 5%+, and now under $30 per share…and it’s only a couple of hours in.
  15. Daring having a rope access specialist sponsoring a show after Tuesday night…access to ropes is NOT prudent for Rovers fans right now.
  16. Yikes, peripheral neuropathy is problematic enough, that sounds a couple of very serious levels worse. If the meds are anything like those for other neuropathies, there is a pretty decent chance of some funky side effects for the first couple of weeks, so don't hesitate to reach out and talk (they do disappear pretty quickly too).
  17. Yea, but he's digging for it anyway...down to $32.41 today...Donald's stake now worth around $2.3 billion and falling. True value about $30 million.
  18. My immediate thought was that's him gone at the end of the year...hope I'm wrong.
  19. I declined the offer to be the official observer.
  20. I was hoping the video link was good to see what Jim Goodwin there looks so concerned about.
  21. I was wondering if you had found video of the nudist skydiving eclipse event that was to happen in Texas. I heard about it when an ex-coworker was tasked with reviewing the application.
  22. And now we know you’re either Josef or Andrew… http://people.csail.mit.edu/billf/publications/Discovering_Objects.pdf
  23. This is where the term “event horizon” becomes applicable.
