  1. Division A Curmudgeon beats Mathematics by resignation. Maths went for an early attack on my king which took a few pieces off the board. When the dust settled he was on the wrong end of a nasty pin which was going to cause carnage if the resignation hadn't happened.
  2. Update on some results. Curmudgeon beats Invergowrie by resignation. A couple of early mistakes caused an insurmountable loss of material for Invergowrie. Curmudgeon beats PurpleKangaroo89 by resignation. The usual tough game against Craig, although he gave away a pawn early which helped give me an edge. Ancientnoise beats Curmudgeon by resignation. I tried to line up almost all my pieces in a coordinated attack, while leaving my own king feebly defended, which against a strong player in asking for trouble. Would not recommend.
  3. Curmudgeon beats Albinorov by resignation. Albinorov got into a bit of bother early on with one of his knights being caught after opening with the Alekhine defence. Although he then made it difficult for me and I had to exchange down and relied on promoting a pawn to force the resignation. @Aim Here looking at the table it looks like you've missed a win for Albinorov against Beef which was reported in the previous page.
  4. The release of 1990s film JFK starring Kevin Costner is closer in time to JFK's assassination than it is to today.
  5. Division A Curmudgeon beats Dandies by resignation. The game took a bit of a wild turn early on when Dandies tried the fried liver attack. The result was both kings left unable to castle and me eventually a piece up. The contest was probably over later when the king and queen was conveniently lined up on the same file just asking for a rook to attack. GG, enjoyed it.
  6. I thought this was a thoroughly entertaining game with a lot going on, I really enjoyed it. The bishop blunder was a bit unfortunate as it brought about the beginning of the end. I was particularly taken with the mexican stand off where I had pawns attacking your knight and bishop and the same time you had a pawn attacking my knight as well as your bishop attacking my queen.
  7. Division A Dearyme beats Curmudgeon A series of underwhelming moves interspersed with the occasional bad move results in Trogdor administering the usual battering that is a hallmark of our games. Well played, I was never in it.
  8. Division A Curmudgeon beats Mathematics by resignation. I managed to get a lead in development and subsequently forced Maths' to move his king to stop him castling. I got a breakthrough with my queen through the middle while the king was exposed and the end was inevitable.
  9. Division A. The_Curmudgeon gets a win against Invergowrie. A bishop left undefended gave me the breakthrough in this game. An extra piece can make all the difference, and so it proved.
  10. I've carried out a random draw for the semi finals which yielded the following results. @free beer v @ancientnoise @Leicesterlichtie v @Aim Here if you're happy with that it just leaves me to wish the best of luck to everyone involved.
  11. I suppose it's appropriate if there are visitors in the house while you're trying to silently bash one off in a concealed cupboard upstairs.
  12. In that case it's a miracle he didn't crash through the control tower.
  13. Good thinking. It seems like a waste of monkeys and dogs when we have a ready supply of referees we could use.
  14. Throbber once went to Nantucket. Where he spied a little waste bucket. He picked up the bin, Stuck his knob in, And proceeded to vigorously f**k it.
  15. In the cup @ancientnoise comes out on top with an impressive accuracy score of 98.3 which was far too good for me. Well played and good luck for the rest of the competition, although I think it might be your semi final opponent that might need the luck.
  16. Although it wasn't easy fitting square pigs in round rolls.
  17. Pfft. Shandon would've fallen forward through the window and land on a porcupine which just happened to be walking by.
  18. My first thought - "great, I avoided Aimhere" Second thought - "ahh, crap. If I'm doing this, I'm doing it the hard way" I've also changed my username to The_Curmudgeon which is what I should've set up initially rather than trying to fit in a feeble pun.
