  1. Don't really see how we'll find out about the latter tbh given that the boycott hasn't notably impacted our home gate. We'll probably take something close to 800 through, normally travel well for the local games and there will be plenty who couldn't make Peterhead choking for an away game
  2. Just think, if the board hadn't acted like an absolute gang of self-serving charlatans and announced him as the preferred bidder in a ham-fisted attempt to save face for the remainder of the tenure, we'd all be none the wiser to any of this nonsense. If he actually gets knocked back now due to not being fit for purpose then this is the biggest single failure of their ownership. If he does take over, then I'll be willing to give him a very cautious benefit of the doubt, but again it's a failing of the board that there's now so much dirty laundry from the guy up in the air. Because of that, even in the absolute best case scenario, a significant portion of our support will take years before they come round to him.
  3. Honestly don't think this will be as one-sided as Clyde fans are fearing, we're still finding our feet and they'll be well up for it. Then again, this was my mindset before Dumbarton and we were 5 up before HT
  4. It's stuff like this he was (fairly) slaughtered for not doing before. He clearly has his limitations in comparison to Gomis and like Bairnardo, I'm not sure he's the player for the one-man holding midfield role. But he's obviously worked hard on his game and, to my eye, put in an admirable shift today before being overrun the 5/10 minutes leading up to his substitution
  5. Didn't think he was too bad at all but I seem to be in the minority. Misplaced pass or two but got stuck in and did the dirty work off the ball that allowed us to take control of the game for the most part
  6. Not what you'd call convincing today but three points against a decent side that keeps the momentum kettle boiling. Will take it at this stage in the season Can almost see what McKinnon's trying to do with the system with the high midfield diamond. In theory it should never work and in practice it often looks haphazard but we seem to be getting better at using it as the weeks go on and the players familiarise themselves with it. Doesn't look like it suits one or two of the players though, particularly Tidser (who I thought was well below par today). Thought McShane was our best player til we were in the lead, but didn't quite have the dig for the battle that ensued - that's where it's huge to have Gomis on the bench. Plenty to work on, two away games coming up from which we'll learn a lot about where we're really at I reckon Top of the league for now though. Box office [emoji41]
  7. Finally we're onto the real issues. No real change to the scotch pies I'm sad to say but the new steak ones are terrific to the point that I've shamelessly jumped ship
  8. If you think that's disappointing wait until you see what happens to your team on Saturday
  9. Being run that close by a Colts team is a riddy on the face of it but looking at their lineup, 5 of those players are probably just about premiership level. As a team probably as good as anything we'll face in L1 Some way off the pace from us but decent run-out for some of the 'fringe' players, and through to the next round. Meh. Bigger fish to fry this weekend anyway
  10. Out of nowhere we've signed Gary Miller. Hopefully decent with his left foot
  11. 4,131 22 less away fans and an extra 93 home supporters lured in by the sexual football on show at the weekend
  12. Is this another marshmallo esque windup effort? I really hope it is
  13. Haven't forgotten anything my man. Don't entirely see the relevance of it tbh, but to indulge you: Peterhead away, arguably the toughest away trip we'll face all season where we were a good yard or two off the pace. Believe the general consensus was very poor result, and we better respond against Dumbarton to make up for it. What I don't recall, however, is you having this 'let's wait until we've played the first round of fixtures' outlook on things after that match. Surely, with it being a new group of players, that one should work both ways. For what it's worth I'm not getting carried away either, agree that we won't get a fair assessment of the team until we've played everyone. But until then I'm happy to judge the players week to week.
  14. I understand not having faith in the manager, but you voiced that plenty prior to the match and, over the course of 90 minutes, his team put on a performance that shows progress away from the 'dirge' you've been moaning about since before a ball was even kicked in pre-season. Yet rather than genuinely acknowledge that you've decided, out of the blue, to use loose comparisons to Jim Duffy to belittle him. No-one's gonna dissect the thread looking for examples of your negativity man, anyone who's kept up with proceedings over the past few hours knows we'd be here all night - but if you don't think that's the case then there's no point butting heads on that one any further. Feel free to log off and enjoy the rest of the Saturday night you're clearly so excited about in peace x
  15. You're kidding yourself on man. The vast majority of your posts since FT have been backhanded digs at McKinnon and the one morsel of positivity was punctuated with 'but it isn't a turning point.' It's not for me to tell you how to live your life but if you insist on being miserable then at least own it x
  16. No-one's asking you to 'wet your knickers' (do whatever makes you happy chief) but given you were vocal in criticising our negative style of play prior to kick-off, a bit of credit where it's due would be nice to see. Otherwise you give off the impression of being needlessly cynical and devalue any merited criticism you dish out in future. That aside, thought we were excellent today. Could obviously only beat what's in front of us but we did a good bit more than just beat them. How many times have Falkirk teams in the relatively recent past come up against terrible teams and gone away with an unconvincing 2-0/2-1 etc? Ruthlessness was a nice change of pace and hopefully something we'll see more of. Hopefully acts as an impetus for putting Montrose to the sword next week, and then taking that attitude into the rest of the games. Could certainly sense a change of atmosphere in the south stand today when the fifth goal went in - we've now proven how good we can be so it's down to Ray and the players to drive the point home over the next few months.
  17. Have to assume we'll be sticking with the 4312/4132 that we've opted for so far. Longridge seems suited to playing between the lines but unsure if he'll be fit to start, if not it'll likely be Connolly Bell Doyle Toshney Buchanan Dixon Telfer Gomis Tidser Connolly/Longridge McManus Sammon
  18. Sounds as if he'll be a decent squad option then, really all we need for the time being. Can he play left-back by any chance...
  19. McKinnon saying we're in talks with Hearts over a young player who plays on the left hand side of the park. Will almost certainly be Lewis Moore
  20. 'Can' and 'will' are different things. No idea why people seem to think we'll be playing with 1 up top either btw, very clear from pre-season that we'll be playing with 2 strikers and 1 in behind for league games at the very least Longridge is a great signing, will be interesting to see if he's evidence of some of the Campbell money filtering through or if he's a replacement for Johnston
  21. Entirely, this one in particular. And the nature of it means I get to be passive aggressive about it when it gets as tedious as this one has been recently Brilliant, eh?
  22. So what have we learned from the 200+ posts on this page today? Mark Campbell either is or isn't genuine, and the BtB guys either have or don't have substantial new information that could discredit him. Very glad this is being debated at length by a lot of people who don't have a clue about the subject
