The OTT gloating from the DABs just proves how much they’ve been hurting the last few years since the DD. Pleasing.

Extremely glorious and pleasing I would honestly say.

    • the state of being obsessed with someone or something
    • an idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person's mind

Whereas last night was a mere ripple in our fresh history, May 2016 is a tsunami for the Dab-chaps and will remain so forever.

I think whatever happens there is obviously the potential for the new benchmark of mockery to be set.

The relegation game and the Wighton goal is the last one. Even last night doesn't really completely eclipse that given the bigger story that will unfold over the season (a brilliant result in isolation but too early to be season defining). Whoever gets promoted at the expense of the other team has the new 'thing' to use over the next few seasons. This is especially true if the last derby in April 2020 has a say in things.

Must say I agree completely with the above sentiments for a potential fresh benchmark.

Personally I'd be satisfied with Dundee having a successful play-off campaign this season if United were to finally clinch the title at their fourth attempt.

In fairness, it probably still won't erase your past four seasons of misery and sour emotive memories though.

Remember though, a league campaign is a marathon, not a sprint.  (Source - Bill Shankly)

It was tbh an utterly bizarre game. The chalked off goal (I just wonder how different the game might have been but hey-ho - if my auntie had baws she'd be my uncle). A goal from a corner that wasn't a corner. Forster giving away an unnecessary free-kick that led to Appere's goal. McDaid completely losing his footing and giving away the penalty. 2 huge deflections for 2 of the goals. Hamilton and Marshall getting in each other's way for the first.

One of those nights where everything United did went right and our defence kept having brainfarts.

The crazy thing is that United will play far better than this and lose games. Not bitter - if you can't do the simple defensive basics then you don't deserve to win.

I have to agree 100% with the comments above, a catalogue of errors made the game a hard watch from our perspective.

The fine malt from last night may be a distant memory however our 1st half general defending is unfortunately not.

Plenty time still to improve, which we undoubtedly will but paint it no other way, the better team over 90mins won the game.

Sore one, honestly didn't see that result in the post!!!!!!

  4. Just back from a relaxing holiday and catching up on the relevant P&B threads prior to tomorrow.

Find it really hard to believe the completely unhealthy obsession of the Dabs on here with all things Famous Dark Blue.

Really must still hurt scratching and itching that 2016 scab. Pity more than most decided not to watch on that fine Spring evening.

In fairness, respect to those real Arabs who did, imho. None of whom appear to have any input on this thread unless I've missed my call.

That's just reminded me they've got that little weasel Pawlett playing for them. I wonder how many of his antics that Clancy will buy tomorrow night.

Real football men like Brian Howard Clough would not even have his like sweeping the terracing Dee Man.

Turns your stomach that sort. Aspects of the modern game I'm sorry to say.

Was pish but still undefeated this season in the league.

Twats booing at the end though need to get a grip.

Well said Crawford, positive vibes after a disappointing result.

On holiday currently so cannot comment on today's game. However as Bill Shankly said to Brian Clough, "a league campaign is a marathon not a sprint".

We'll judge our challenge to Lawrence Shankland FC in the months ahead, not before the first transfer window has even closed.

Fresh start at Lawrence Shankland Park on Friday evening. Dabs best pray his injury issues do not return imho.

We're building a football team, not a one man curiosity.

Someone please convince me not to spend £15...

PS - it was Gadz and not Hemmings that scored the equaliser, right? Asking for a friend.

Remember when ordering the above product for the match you refer to.

Underneath the BBC Ceefax screen match details, result and scorers etc it would also clearly state, probably in red capitals, DUNDEE UNITED RELEGATED.

Great gift idea and clever product.

McPake better fucking learn from that. Can't believe losing this game has infuriated me, but it fucking has.

Last two seasons or so, we could not even compete with that club, let alone get a positive performance and result.

Have faith in McPake, he knows like we do, we still lack strength in depth regarding the current pool.

The additional presence of Kane Hemmings today and the game was probably ours.

He plays his cards close he does, expect other interesting arrivals. Exciting times!!!

Yous are thick as f**k, we’re doing something about it yous aren’t!

Who’s that lying on the dens park 🤪🤪

I have to assume by the sharpness of your crayon you're not the usual local sports journalist.

In fairness you would appear to have other assets though.

I'm surprised any scaffolding was actually required to paint over the cracks in the structural support beams when you were obviously available.

I wasn’t planning on buying a season ticket this year as I think I will miss a few matches.

I intended to just buy tickets for today’s match but as I stood in the queue today I remembered that to support Dundee - well, the pleasure the privilege is mine.

Indeed, There Is a Light That Never Goes Out,  kindred spirit Shadow my man.

He knows so much about these things.

Him and McIntyre, what a right pair of cunters.

Speaking of which, merely thinking aloud and my opinion.

It really would not surprise me in the least if Davies and Curran have gotten the nod that Jim McIntyre and Billy Dodds are about to re-appear at another club in the near future.

Why else would they both seek to terminate and ask for a settlement on what are probably quite decent contracts unless new pastures are in the offing?

    Anyway, merely a thought.

Best regards (except to those named above)

Agree re McWilliams. Iain MacDonald also seems likely. Bomber Harris - as slowcas a week in the gaol but had a decent touch about him. Who was the other tall striker we had about that - Graham Hendry? Not sure about Walker McCall - looks too young. Sexy Lexy - you might be right about him too.

    Morning Spud

I think that advert was probably around 1984/85 season, not long after Archie took over.

Re tall striker, too early for Graham Harvey, I recall we swapped Colin Harris for him, maybe thinking about a young Colin Hendry, he initially played up front around that time.

Reckon feller at the rear on the right is Walker McCall, however there was a lot of big, big hair going on in the 80's!!!!

Geddes, not sure, Jim Smith, Glennie, Zico McGeachie, Archie Knox, Shaky Stephen, the legendary Albert Kydd, Keith Wright, Tosh McKinlay, Robert Conner, not sure, John Brown, not sure (young lad - remember his face), John McCormick, Stuart Rafferty and possibly Mince Vennie.

The young lad might be Derek McWilliams. The guy at the back with the hair might be  Iain MacDonald, the car might be a Renault 18!

Yeah, spot on young guy is indeed Derek McWilliams. Guy next to Geddes is Iain MacDonald.

Colin Harris next to John Brown and not Vince Mennie at the rear, I'm sure that's Walker McCall. Not Keith Wright either though, I think that's Lex Richardson.

    Some great characters!!!

At the DAB game, McIntyre was serenaded by United as he came out smiling, draped with a DAB scarf and giving fist pumps.

In the Caley end - and United are tearing them apart. Keating's had an early chance where he cracked the post but other than that, all DABs.

Tacky, cheap and extremely embarrassing on a professional level, or indeed any level for that matter.

More a reflection on Jim McIntyre as a person and his apparent level of intellect I'm afraid.

I'm sure nearly all right-minded Dundee United followers would be equally embarrassed, this fellow is not bred and reared with our east coast blood.

Having a new addition to the Bobby Cox. Turns out she got pregnant at the same time as the whole of Scotland though. 3 girls and now a boy. That's game off the poley. 😂

Well done that man, happy days. Another Season Ticket required in time for the new stadium.

Best regards and wishes to you all.

  16. I had not attended since the Brechin game due to commitments and was not sure what to expect today following the reports from the Peterhead game last weekend.

However I was very impressed with today's overall team performance. Due to the small TV induced attendance where we were in the South Enclosure you could even hear Jack Hamilton constantly scream instructions to his back-line in the second half. Given last seasons' performances this has to be positive, actual COMMUNICATION.

That would appear to be the James McPake main basic remit, TEAMWORK. Sounds simple, however he's already starting to put the building blocks in place.

Great speed of mind going forward and also a constant awareness of link-work whilst always seeking to play the ball to feet whenever possible.

Anyway, early days and merely my humble opinion.

We’re trying to secure Jack Aitchison on loan from Celtic.

With all due respect to the young man from Celtic, we already have numerous Dark Blue young guns hungry and ripe for development.

Also, as per the Official Dundee website this morning, a very Happy Birthday to Craig Wighton today from all us Dees.

THAT GOAL witnessed first hand, NEVER FORGOTTEN.

Edit - To NEFdab, I've been a poster here for three months now and have never red dotted anyone once, whilst always respecting all differing opinions.

You would appear to red dot my every posting for your own sad reasons. As they say in make believe world, ARE YOU LOOKING AT ME???????

  18. It would not surprise me in the least if Stevie May turns up at Dens, if only on the basis of how highly rated he is by our management team.

I'm sure they were on record recently as saying another two up top were still required after all.

As long as Stevie May accepts it's not advisable to drink in Perth for a wee while, just need to entertain new friends at the Apex, lol.

    Best regards
