Would love to see the club go baws oot for someone like Barrie McKay. A player who would take the ball under pressure and drive at defences through the middle of the park.

Watching more Stoke City than my beloved Dundee FC on actual TV over the last few seasons, mainly due to Mrs TCM and TV companies clearly not knowing their arse from their elbow, I have to say @Mr. Alli is absolutely on the money.

Barrie McKay, when in direct opposition to Stoke City for Nottingham Forest or Swansea has always shone bright, so much so I would always pontificate that Stoke's current (ex DAB I may add) manager should sign him. Astonished when he ended up at Fleetwood Town on loan.

Serious intentions indeed if we were to sign a player of that calibre in the midst of his career.

C'mon Mr Nelms, please recruit Ash Taylor for central defence, then perm any two from Andrew Shinnie, Greg Stewart, Barrie McKay or indeed Scott Allan. The last three you could even deploy up-front if required for goodness sake!

    Regards

    Was always Bobby Geddes.

Correct Biggie and I agree whilst being a more than competent keeper throughout his career, he was no Ally Donaldson or Thomson Allan whom he had the more than difficult, if not impossible task of replacing.

Very disappointed to read on the Dundee website tonight that Bobby signed for us in 1979. He certainly made his first team debut that year, however he actually signed for the Dark Blues in 1977 from Ross County, whom at the time were very much a Highland League club.

When Robert initially signed he was only 17 years of age and whilst being of that era and moving away from home probably displayed the maturity of a modern day 24 year old.

I can only comment on having watched Robert play for the club and have no idea how good or otherwise a goalkeeping coach he was or is, however we have had a succession of goalkeeping dough-balls over the years which in fairness Robert Geddes certainly did not recommend or indeed sign for the club.

Good luck to him if this is indeed his retirement, a Dark Blue worthy of our respect, imho.

    Merely my opinion.

  3. As a mere youngster Dee of the mid to late 70's, does anyone else recall the school football bags sported by those of us lucky enough to have parents who could afford them?

This is currently for sale on ebay from a fellow Dee in the city obviously thinning out his Dark Blue collection of strips, programmes and 'all things Dundee FC' it would appear.

Recommend viewing the ebay seller "scottdfc" items on offer, very interesting collection from which I've already made a few purchases.

Respect to Scott for such a fucking magnificent collection.

Deepest Dark Blue regards to the feller.

Would be a laugh if we were back in for Ciftci

Good call that, James McPake was keen as mustard last season to bring Shifty in, wouldn't ever be dull that's for sure.

One who is newly out of contract and available is ex Dee midfielder Andrew Shinnie (31), most recently at Luton Town and Charlton Athletic.

Greg Stewart however would be the icing on the cake for me.

    Top quality PowerPoint. IMO.

Yep, average quality presentation bullshit for circa 1997 from my professional experience.

Obviously not our concern, however it's truly beyond any realistic belief the Dundee United American owners are continuing to listen and be guided by this charlatan now clown like figure.

Anyways, clock is ticking for them, that's the reality. This is merely an external observation and not a criticism.

Its this kind of wordsmithery the modern world is losing.

Straight from the tomes of old. Tolkien would be speechless.

A picture is worth a thousand words, oh my days. Check out the expressions listening to Billy Bullshit, the ex cop, lol.

Nowt changed since Robbie left obviously and Micky then told him to stick it where the sun don't shine whilst hopefully retaining his own professional reputation.

Truly deepest concerns and regards, charlatans like this can spell the end for your club.

We with Dens Park at heart should know them when we see them and unfortunately for you guys it's your turn.

    Good luck.

  7. Appears on the surface to be a healthy Charlie Adam input and influence regarding our previous signing Ryan Sweeney, obviously being an ex Stoke City colleague and now his manager in his final season at the Potteries Nathan Jones is also willing to loan a player from Luton Town in the English Championship. Coincidence, who knows?

Anyway, Charlie Adam lining up against Dundee United is not about money as per Charlie Mulgrew, this is after all what he's dreamt about since he was a lad.

We will however have to protect Charlie in high octane games such as these against Scottish Championship level hammer throwers, imho.

    Clocks are ticking, cannot wait.

Do you find yourself switching off after a minute or 2 when they go on and on and on and your just nodding your heading saying yes every 20 seconds or so 🤔

Honestly prefer not commenting regarding the above emotive subject.

Well not without whisky and the wind behind me anyway.

Ask again at the weekend, on second thoughts probably best not, lol.

Nah, you could see he lost interest. His enjoyment had clearly left and his head was elsewhere, that clearly had an effect on his game, it looked (understandably) half arsed. I don't blame him or McPake for his poor form, it was just a result of mental illness. I am glad Kano has seemed to recover from his illness.

With all due respect all I can add is the culture and playing conditions at any club need to be conducive to producing good performances.

Unfortunately this was certainly not the case during James McPake's first season in charge and indeed for most of last season after Kano had already departed.

After Kane Hemming's bravely speaking out recently regarding his well-being we all truly wish him well for his future. However I personally would welcome him back for a third spell at Dens Park whereby he would be in a better position  to replicate his previous 2015/16 form, especially with the good service and assist experts we now seem to have at our disposal.

In the meantime we wish him the best, always.

I think Kano's form was more down to his mental state. I wouldn't blame McPake for that. The boy, quite rightly, for his own health, needed to go home.

Disagree on this occasion Johnny I'm afraid my man.

Kano I fear attempted to return to his "happy place" during his own personal dark period, however the formations and football we played and adopted were down 110% to James McPake making it was impossible for him to replicate his previous form displayed during his previous tenure at Dens Park.

    Merely my opinion.

Interesting for the minority of folk that preferred Johnson to Hemmings that ultimately he only ended up scoring something like 4 more goals having played something like 15 more games for a decent League 2 side than Hemmings did for a shite League 1 side.

That and Johnson's next move has been to another League 2 side.

He definitely had his place and could have been the main man for us but Hemmings was always the better option IMO.

Yeah, agree Ludo, Kane Hemmings did his hometown team Burton Albion proud this season also.

Both Danny and Kano could have been something really special at Dens, however not how we applied ourselves in Mr McPakes fearful first season.

All in the past now thankfully though, we will be the main attraction to view football next season in the City of Discovery.

    Regards

  12. See Danny Johnson has left Leyton Orient and signed a two year deal for Nigel Clough at Mansfield Town having scored 20 goals this season.

The feller doesn't seem to hang around for any length of time at any club, albeit Orient did offer him new terms.

Having natural goalscorers like Danny Johnson and Kane Hemmings is no guarantee of goals, if they're not utilised correctly.

Thankfully Mr McPake has already crowd surfed that particular learning curve, lol.

    Regards

    Announce Greg Stewart please.

If you could step up your interest a bit more that'd be appreciated.

Good luck to the feller. Always seemed to be an efficient, hard working journeyman pro throughout his career with an outstanding attitude, imho

More than decent sub to introduce for Sir Charles after the 70 minute mark at Tannadice whilst we're coasting home. The fact Gardyne's a dyed-in-the-wool Arab makes it all the more attractive, again imho.

Greg Stewart to be first through the door however please.

    Good times for a change.

You going to be drinking it, or is it an investment?

    Thank you.

Partial to a good investment, however certainly not with malts.

Thought it could be kept for our next major trophy celebration, so in that case it will probably be left in my will in several decades time, lol.

There again you know what it's like, pissy-arsed (post Covid 19) get together evening, fellow Dark Blue in the company and bang goes the limited edition!
