To answer yourself @Wee jeemie and @Fifespud, Owen Beck does remind me of a young Tosh McKinlay, in style, plus his playing application and refreshing attitude to the game. However, any of you guys, like myself who watched Tosh come through the ranks at Dens, he was a regular in our 1st team at 19 years of age. Owen Beck has two apparent poor loan spells prior to us and is 22 years old this August. Only highlighting both are and were tremendous talents, merely developing at a different speed, that's all. As for transfer values of Tosh against Owen, where do you start? Different times as I say. Regards

Back row centre I'm sure is another former JamboDee in Alan Lawrence. Signed for £25k after it took 3 games to shake off Meadowbank Thistle in the Scottish Cup back in the 80's, then subsequently disappeared into our reserves, iirc. Owen Beck's a tidy player no mistake, however he's no Tosh McKinlay as yet, not even close, imho. Merely my opinion.

Probably by his own admission even Cammy Kerr would say he's certainly not amongst the most accomplished defenders to ever grace Dens Park. However let's not undermine his actual achievement or bad mouth his commitment to our, or indeed his club, only wish him well in the future. All the best young man, we all move on.

Following on from recent icons such as Gary Harkins and Sir Charles of Adam, this signing would also importantly means extra 'bums on seats' at Dens Park. It's a yes from me, no mistake. For those of a certain age, myself included, who attended Dens Park in the late 70's through to the 80's, please can we remember Ian Redford who so sadly died 10 years back on the 10th January 2014, aged only 53. Ian was, for any Dee who had the good fortune to see him in Dark Blue a tremendous footballing talent, who at the age of 19 broke the Scottish Football record transfer fee with a £210,000 move to Old Glasgow Rangers. Disappointingly for him as it actually transpired, as he had wished for a move to Spurs, to follow in the footsteps of previous Dundee greats Alan Gilzean and John Duncan in years before him. Interested to hear the thoughts of similarly aged Dark Blues, however I'm still of the opinion we would have achieved something truly memorable in the mid to late 80's if we'd re-recruited both Ian Redford and Iain Ferguson again at Dens Park. Thoughts are with Ian's family at this time, a fantastic footballer.

A few years back I purchased online a new waxed fishing jacket, which if I'm perfectly honest was not as dark a brown as I would have liked. Okay for the River Isla I suppose, however be fucked if I'd wear it at Dens Park on matchday, lol.

The improvement on the playing side under 'The Doc' this season is, let's face it and be honest, off the scale in comparison to recent seasons for someone still learning and developing his own style and identity. If Tim Keyes can deliver what his spokesman John Nelms' is proposing, these are special times indeed for our club. Looking forward to St Johnstone's anti-football Craig Levein visit, takes all sorts after all in football. However not as much as I'm looking forward to the transfer window under 'our Tony' if I'm honest. For folks of my vintage in their late 50's, Tony gives off the same vibes as Archie Knox did in years past. A competent football manager, employed at Dens Park, WTF! Regards and merely my opinion as always.

One of these rare occasions today when I didn't see or indeed follow the game due to the young uns' being around for a family meal. No surprise in the result given the obvious difference in club finances, however looking at the league table we've now lost six league games in seventeen. Look deeper into these stats, four defeats from the six are from the 'historical financial freaks of 1887 and 2012 of Scottish Football'. The sooner they both leave Scottish Football and ply their trade elsewhere, the better for all things Scottish concerned going forward. Nowt to do with our country, either of these clubs, get rid once and for all and a healthier, more level playing field awaits us all. Merely my opinion.

Fair comment above regarding Bakayoko. I see Forest Green Rovers have just appointed Troy Deeney as head coach/manager and I'd imagine he'll want to assess what he has available. There again, he may want to clear the decks to create space for his own signings. One thing for sure, 'The Doc' will have it all in hand I reckon.

As I so eloquently highlighted on Sunday evening and having watched Scottish football since 1975, disappointingly I'm ashamed to say, nowt much changes.

Perfectly interesting draw when you consider pitching Derek McInnes against Tony Docherty, very spicy to say the least. Ties are not until 20-21st January next year and if we've not secured a goalscorer by then, just set GGH's apprentice Charlie Reilly loose, it's in the bag. Compare this seasons' team selections to only 12 months ago, the improvement is astonishing, imho.

Yeah, totally agree @Shadow Play, comparison to the best manager I've personally seen at Dens Park is not misplaced in any shape or form. Reality is, it's only going to get better, awesome thought!

Yeah shame that, they chose the wrong end to close down. Classic entrance to Dens Park that is, merely in my 58 year old humble opinion. Regards as always.

Still recall being lifted over the turnstiles as a youngster, up these very stairs, then clapping eyes upon the largest billiard table ever in the 1970's. Happy days.
