Dunfermline vs Dundee United - Sat 29th
Ray Patterson replied to D.A.F.C's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
Yes, and now they have a covered stand and two covered terraced enclosures so it should be OK to play and to watch. They used to do a discount for season ticket holders of the other Fife clubs but I don't think they do that now. It's like £6 roughly. -
I'm more of a Jacques Chirac man myself

Europa League Qualification Thread
Ray Patterson replied to welldaft's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
There was some discussion that you guys may be screwed. Livi were the only Premiership club refused a UEFA Licence, and UEFA are becoming increasingly difficult with giving special dispensation to top flight clubs. So there's a chance that your spot may be given to someone else. -
Would also be a waste of £2,000 application fee as well.

What Football is Better?
Ray Patterson replied to Barry Ferguson's Hat's topic in Misc Other Fitba Chat
English is technically foreign in a Footballing context so this question is a paradox. -
Realistically just put all HL/LL Clubs in Round 1. That provides you with 4 extra berths from the Prelim. Rounds. So you will have 11 Slots in R1 for those who get through Prelims. Which means you can up to 44 clubs in Prelims. The highest x number finishers in the pyramid with a License should be given a bye to PR2. The remaining sides should face out in PR1. Simples.

Good chance of Scotland finishing this season as one of the Top 6, or even possibly Top 5 Countries for this years solo coefficent. As of now: (7.55pm 26th Feb) England - 15.285pts (7 clubs remaining) Spain - 15.214pts (7 clubs remaining) Germany - 14.142pts (6 clubs remaining) Italy - 11.785pts (5 clubs remaining) Portugal - 10.100pts (3 clubs remaining) Scotland - 9.750pts (2 clubs remaining) Netherland - 9.000pts (2 clubs remaining) France - 8.500pts (2 clubs remaining)

Same points either way.

Rangers' Wee Spot in Europe - Season 2023/24
Ray Patterson replied to The_Kincardine's topic in Scots in Europe
Portuguese Police can't handle Braga and Porto playing at the same time at Home, despite them being 30 miles from each other, so the match with the lower ranked side (Braga) was moved. -
I would imagine the Scottish Cup would have to change its format next season? Maybe the 2nd place sides in the HL and LL would be pushed back to Round 1, otherwise you're going to have at least three prelim rounds.

Dundee United 2019/2020

Had a listen to the Courier football Pod, quite an interesting listen. Do wonder if Robbie will give the likes of Mochrie a start in the next few games. -
Squeaky bum time.

There has been a lot of discussion in the media about which one of these companies' streaming services will succeed/fail first. To be honest, they all are probably going to be fine as they're all massive companies. All these companies (bar Netflix) can afford to run their services as a loss leader. Amazon Prime - Definitely safe - Amazon are a trillion dollar company Apple TV+ - Same again - Apple are a trillion dollar company Netflix - Have a LOT of uncertainty - May just survive/thrive due to realising what's up and being the first to innovate/original content Disney+ - 100% safe - Easy win for them, especially when they get Simpsons/Family Guy exclusively. There's enough disney Fiat 500 girls to keep it going for years at a profit. HBO Now - May have some issues when they launch over here, probably safer selling their UK portion to Sky/Comcast, like they currently do. BritBox - Could work, but I'm very, very skeptical.

EOS Grounds for Optimism
Ray Patterson replied to HibeeJibee's topic in East of Scotland Football League
Won't be long until a License (or actively trying to achieve one) may become a soft requirement for the EoS Premier and future WoS Premier. -
I think Newburgh will go EoS, albeit reluctantly. Going to Tayside would be a last resort. They're probably the club in the "safest" place of the Juniors. Regardless of what they choose, they'll be playing in a League next season - Tayside or EoS Conference.

Random football tops you own
Ray Patterson replied to FalkirkBairn93's topic in Misc Other Fitba Chat
So just ordered a few more tops - my bank balance is not enjoying that. I have now: Fiorentina 1998-99 Deportivo Alaves - 2018-19 Scotland 2020 w/ Shankland on the back Flamengo 2019-20. Kosovo 2020. -
UEFA Champions League 2019-20
Ray Patterson replied to Rab B Nesbit's topic in Misc Other Fitba Chat
So good we can finally agree that the Bundesliga or La Liga is the best league in the world. It's been a pretty poor season for English clubs, all four sides look like they could be out of the CL, Manchester United still have a tricky 90mins against Klub Brugge. Misfiring Man City will probably need a miracle to defeat Real Madrid. Both Tottenham and Chelsea are pretty much out. Only Wolves and Arsenal look like they will definitely be in the next round. The absolute scenes when Scotland and England have the same number of clubs in European competition. -
I would add that if Glasgow Uni, jumped they would be joined by Strathclyde as well. Also a small chance of Oban Saints or other big Ams sides joining.

2019-2020 Relegation Play Off
Ray Patterson replied to marello's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
No not really. Highland League clubs (Wick aside) are mostly much closer than their LL opponents. Also the HL should be easier to get out of than a LL that will probably have Bo'ness, EK, Kelty, Clydebank and Bonnyrigg in the next few seasons. Travel times from Brechin (by car): -
Might use the free trial and binge Air Crash Investigation, Endgame and The Mandalorian. I assume that there isn't going to be ESPN+ included in the package at all.

Best football fan meltdowns

and the kid would be absolutely right. -
No the Welsh Premier League is effectively a pub league tbf. Alloa when they were in League One hammered the 2nd placed Bala Town on their own patch whilst playing a shadow side.

I agree with you there, the only change I would make to the League Structure is go from a 12-10-10-10 to a 12-14-10-10 and remove the playoff berth for 4th place in L1 and L2, with auto relegation from L2.
