I am not sure he wasn't keen. I am almost sure he interviewed for the job and he was the man they wanted. His recruitment in the summer was a disgrace. Even the getting rid of Darryl in his 1st day in the job seems a crazy call. He is still doing the coaching at training as well. Totally bizarre situation.

See we have forfeited next week's Aberdeenshire shield match against Keith. Another embarrassment to add to the list. Fair enough we have got a lot of injuries, but we do have a youth system which surely could have been used in this circumstance. Really do despair at times.

Heard yesterday at Darryl's testimonial that Draper told the players at training that Managing is not for him. Meant to be favouring an assistant manager/player role with Barry Smith(ex Dundee) coming in as manager.

Fear another Nathan Austin show as usual against us. Scoring goals been a huge issue so far, need to turn that around quickly

As feared by I think even the most positive Elgin fan, an awful start to the league season. Have as many strikers as you want if you don't create chances you won't score goals. Depressing stuff

I agree, a lot of positives from the game. Liam Harvey had a thankless task but battled away. The big centre half was really good I thought. I think Draper the player is going to be the main problem this season. Been absolutely hopeless the whole pre season. Looks miles off it. Very tough role a player manager. I personally don't think it works.

I also heard that about Shane Sutherland. What I heard is that it is already agreed that he will join the squad when he is fit again. Great news if he could get back to his previous self. But 18 months out by the time he's back at 33 it could be a big ask

Liam Harvey hopefully will provide plenty goals but definitely need at least one more

Liam Harvey and Blair Mckenzie From Aberdeen and Ryan Macleman from Ross County all trained with the squad tonight so should be available for Motherwell on Saturday. A good bit of progress at last hopefully.

I think that must be Drapers plan. Wait until nearer the end of the window and pick up some strong loans and a couple of signings from his contacts at Cove, Caley & County. I certainly hope he has some of plan like that. But I do fear for the next 2 Saturdays with the current like up. Caley and especially Motherwell will be extremely tough games.

Totally agree. At most times in pre season you could say it is about getting minutes in the legs. But it is the lack of ability throughout the team that is the worry. I also thought Draper was horrendous. He has been slow since he has been at the club, but he looks to have lost another couple of yards. Cooney is also hopeless. Can't see him being signed. Badly need Dozlanski and Cooper back. Does make you think the decision to not give Darryl a contract is a strange one. He can be limited but he has played a hell of a lot of games at that level and was one of very few experienced players in that squad.

If Ross Draper was not worried before yesterday's game he surely is now. That was genuinely the worst ever Elgin City performance I have ever witnessed. Truly not a single positive about that team. The Huntly old boys that came on for the last 20 minutes were still the better team. Truly abysmal, pre season or not.

A 3-1 home defeat in the opening friendly to Forres tonight. The line up shows how woefully short we are for players. Drapers comments at the start of the week also worried me. Said he is not In too much of a hurry to sign players. Looking at the fact they can take in 5 loan players before the season starts. Grim stuff.

You are right, she has. But she could well have had more ideas that were not implemented. Or should I say her husband might have. He is the silent backer that just stays in the background by the looks of it.

I believe Graham's wife's health has been poor for a while now. All the very best to them. He has been a great servant to Elgin City. But from a football point of view this has been needed for a long time. Hopefully now we will see a more forward thinking attitude and approach from Isla Benzie and her board.
