  1. No one is talking about divine rights though….but there are realistic expectations. Do Barcelona have a realistic expectation to be in La Liga? Falkirk in The Championship is something I would describe as a level we should be at, minimum (though the leagues are so small that this is now harder to gauge).
  2. This was kinda my point earlier before I got roundly red dotted. This squad is good and with a bit of luck we’ll keep the nucleus of it if we go up next season. I am enjoying the games, the connection between the club and fans is back too which is fantastic. I’m just not getting carried away in L2 (though 0 losses and an 80% win rate is a fantastic achievement by all involved).
  3. Just putting it out there (not getting carried away) but a home game against Cove (6th April) and Hartley with 5 games to go to clinch the title?? How sweet would that be?
  4. Come off it, this is surely just front. We’re in the third tier for goodness sake, a pretty weak one at that. It’s enjoyable but carried away, time to set your bar a bit higher imo.
  5. Yeah, there’s keeping your feet firmly on the ground….then there’s this.
  6. Calvin Miller will be looking for an improvement in his performance second half.
  7. I feel like I’ve woken from a nightmare and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
  8. Airdrie away last year in February/March felt like a marker at the time but yeah, slim pickings otherwise over the years.
  9. I slightly disagree with this. There was a spell of 1-2 minutes where we played in the corner but it was far too early to do that (maybe 7-8 minutes go) then we went back to being open again.
  10. The bollocking McGinn gave him before the end of the game was something else, real vein bulging stuff.
  11. Yep, but that doesn’t suit the agenda of the naysayers.
  12. Kelpies and nice surrounding walks right next to stadium. Seems okay to me for an outing.
  13. This is still hard to take for much of our fanbase.
  14. I hope we don’t start drifting….picking up 3 points against the weaker sides and then coming away with draws (with a possible defeat or two) against our rivals. Big game on Saturday against a dangerous opponent, time to hit our stride again.
  15. What would everyone 90s midfield pairing be (a number 6 and 8)? It’s tricky but I’ve gone for Scott Mackenzie for the 6 over Duffy, J Clark, Baptie, Hughes and others and (this is hard) Rice over Taylor, McCall, May etc for the 8.
  16. I was more referring to his first spell at the club and league games. He was a mixture of positions in 90/91, wasn’t an ever present 91/92 (all at centre back), played about a 1/4 of games in 92/93, 2/3 thirds in 93/94 but was put in midfield after his lay-off as there was a settled back line before moving to CB and in 94/95 player under half of the games.
  17. How did he manage 14 goals in 35 games in season 69/70? Phenomenal for a defender!
  18. Yeah, how could I forget this guy. Took him a while to get in the team, a bit longer still to win over the fans then was involved in seasons where we fell foul of decisions which kept us out of the top flight (potentially). A great team player.
  19. It’s a pity that this is what he is mostly known for during his time at the club. He did have periods where he didn’t play much but in many ways he was Mr Falkirk of the 90’s, he was there from 91’-99’. No one else came close to this during that time.
  20. Okay, here we go. In 92/93 he played 16 league games, 3 of which were in midfield as McLaughlin and Duffy were the centre half pairing at that point (the season Hughes, McLaughlin and Baptie had SIX long injury lay-offs between them). 93/94 he played 28 (1) out of 44 (another long injury lay-off at the start of the season) When he came back the centre half pairing was McLaughlin and Weir, with Duffy at right back so at this point he was put into midfield for about 12-14 games. He was eventually put into centre half for the run-in for that title-winning season. 94/95 he pretty much missed the first half of the season, had to come off the bench a few times, a little bit at full-back before, again, reclaiming his place at centre half in the run-in.
  21. Duffy and Oliver were good servants (especially Oliver) who did pretty well at centre half when called upon in successful teams.
